Timmy;

As far as I remember I just told that I did repair a VU meter and never told how to do it nor offering to guide or help on doing it.

I did telling that 2 or 3 years ago and no one seems to have any interest, now all of a sudden you appear to be so anxious.

I also explained yesterday, that I cannot described how to repair by words only and it is imposible for me to guide someone by words and possibly could lead into mistakes.

Sorry I can't published the HOW-TO, maybe someone else could do it for you.

Hope this will satisfy your couriousity.

Thank you for your interest.

Boby from Indonesia

Did you or did you not tell us Beta people that you would tell us the details of the repair?

Now you seem to want to turn it into a money making proposition for yourself.

If you previously said you never told us you would make known the secret, I still have that post where you said you would and will include it in my next message.

Don't make yourself out to be a liar.

Do a good deed for this chat page, we all share a common interest, don't try to seperate us blokes from our hard earned bobs, quids and pounds.

Hi Timmy, amazing too that you know my place.

I cannot describe how to fix that as there's some mod to do (not easy to tell by words)

I can help on fixing that LED if you can send the item abroad.

US post Priority International is around 18.5$. Express is 25$USPS PMI will arrive in 10 days.

Sending back with Expres Mail 18.5 (less than your country fee)

Repairing will cost you more, rather than if you buy a new clone.

Cheers, Boby.

Hi Noel,

I find myself thanking you once again! it appears that ABC are rather different from the BBC when it comes to selling anything. BBC Publications are bywords for astronomical prices. They produce some beautiful spin-off books, but 35 or more a time?

My partner works just round the corner from BBC Portland Place, and she occasionally goes into their shop to boggle at their prices. She did buy a dvd which I wanted and wasn't available anywhere else - a one-hour programme at 20!

For a set like you describe, I doubt it would be any less than pounds for dollars - more than twice the price! I can't imagine shipping from your homeland costing a fortune.

Thanks again, I'll try not to bother you again for a bit.Regards,Bill

Craig,

Supply and demand plus effort dictates price. I have quite a few reconditioned SLHF100s but not many working SLC9s and I have just about run out of original remotes for the SLC9. In general there are more isues to check on an SLC9. I still like them even though they are not HiFi. The mechanicals are fantastic compared to other machines but a little fragile around the load mech.

I still have one only original SLHF100 head but yes I am using SLHF150 heads. The difference is an additional magnet on the SLHF150 head. Compare the old and the new and remove the additional magnet. I forgot to on one I installed and it throws out the alignement on a HF100 because the servo circuit is getting an extra pulse when it does not expect it. Sort of causes tearing at the bottom of the screen.

I wont be in Brisbane any time soon. Check your SLC40s load mech with the machine facing you and see if the drive gear on the left hand side is cracked through. The white plastic gear has a D shaped hole and if the cassette jams this gear can crack at the flat of the D. If that is the problem I can supply you a reinforced gear to fit or you can mail me the mechanism for repair.

cheers Noel

Hi Maggie:No problem.I could help you with the Sanyo machines ( as i used to work for them and have a lot of experience). If it's the earlier models ( 9300, 5400,5600 0r 5300 parts could be difficult to source).Let me know the model numbers of the Sanyo only machines.I would need them to be posted out though.I've helped many like this and i'm very thorough with what i do.A lot of 'professionals' don't bother with certain items or checks just the main ,idlers/belts and a lot won't touch a Beta now either sad to say or maybe even a VHS).This site has quite a few who are compassionate with this format and will help all they can.Feel free to e-mail myself anytime.....................Kevin

Noel:

Thanks for your reply; I thought HF 100 heads were no longer available. Are these in fact HF 150 heads on your HF 100? What are the technically specific diferrences between the HF 100 and the HF 150? Let me know the next time you are in Brisbane so you can have a look at my faulty C 40 loading mechanism!!, Cheers, Craig.

Craig,

Sorry I miss-read your comments. I remember now it was my friend in Adelaide that sold him an SLHF950 cheap. You probably did buy yours from WA. I have never sold an SLHF950, I have just repaired them for people.

I have quite a few as parts machines - might sellsome one day.

cheers Noel

Craig,

I dont know him that well so cant comment really. I sell machines for that much as well but I give three months guarantee and my machine (just listed SLHF100AS) has new video heads. He is also on the chatpage sometimes. I think he did get your SLHF950 machine for a good price and he has sold them for as much as $890. His comments make the SLHF150 sound better than it is though I am sure there are less around as he says. I still think the SLHF100 has the best picture but they do have problems with the VU meter leds. Fortunately that does not affect the SLHF100s operation.

cheers Noel

Bill,

The Sony SLC5 and SLC7 machines had electrolytic capacitors which went faulty with age.

Replace the bright blue sanyo brand capacitors on the base board around the drum and capstan servo area of the board.

Noel: Who's the bloke over in Perth that always seems to be selling top quality, well maintained Beta units? What do you think of the price he has on his HF 150 "Buy it Now?" I think he's the bloke I got my HF 950 from a couple of years ago, Cheers, Craig.
