I recently bought a Sony Betamax SL2710 HiFi stereo machine. It works fine, but there was no manual or remote control. Can anyone tell me what the unit originally sold for in the U.S., what it is worth today on the used market. If anyone has a manual and/or remote for sale, I would be interested in purchasing/trading.

Nice to see an australian tracking down a sony hf150. ..rather rare here only ever seen 2 and they werent for sale...a few hf100 's about tho

as for the remote, I cant remember, but I think it was Tandy had one for 70 dollars that learnt commands, rather than being preprogrammed, thus if you can borrow a remote you can get the new one to learn the commands

but why cant you get an orriginal, speedy spares in kensington in melbourne, I have gotten a slhf 950 remote, and 2 sanyo remotes for vtc-m40 's. So there must be someone near you who can get one. By the way, the sony shop in melb said they couldnt get the remotes, about 2 days before I ordered them thru speedy spares.

Thanks john.

PS: trying to get stk power regulator chips of the smaller board in the power supply of the sanyo vtc-m40

John, for your application most any newer uni remote should work. I do know that mid 90s Zenith/Allegros won't. They don't have a code number for Betas. In otherwords they list, under Sony, per se, Sony and Sony Hi8. Neither code will work my Betas as well as won't work for Toshibas, and Sanyos either. I've tried. At the moment I use either a Sony 3 for 1 or a One For All (tm) 6. I've even got a generic TV Guide 3 for 1 that works the afformentioned Betas. Pepse.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows if modern Universal Remotes can be used on Sony Beta machines from the mid 80's era. More specifically on a SL-HF-150?

I have tried a few remotes, but all they do is turn the VCR on and off, can't get it to play, record, change channels etc.

Any advice from anyone out there would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Has anybody got a Betamax video recorder stuck in the loft or garage they would like to sell. Not working C5s would be ideal. UK only and preferably the South Coast area. Grateful for a EMail direct. Somewhat urgent as I need to transfer some 70s/80s tapes and I'm told that the problem with my C5 is dropping out on the capstan lock circuit, if anybody understands that.

Many thanks

Betamen,Several years ago my band left a recording studio proudly clutching ourlatest songs digitally mastered to Betamax tape. I'd now be really happyif I could get these copied to CD (or any other current format). Do youknow of anyone who could do that for me (preferably near Sheffieldarea)?

Thanks for any response,Graham

My Sanyo VTC-M40 is in for repair - 200 - it needs new heads, quite worrying. But it is 11 or 12 years old. But as I have over 200 tapes (possibly even 300) and only 2 HiFi decks I suppose its worth it. My other video is a Sony 950

Hi all I have recently received two BetaMovie cameras ( bmc -200 bmc-220). I'd like toadd a video output if possible.. Is that even possible to do considering the record onlyabilities of the machines?

As well does anyone know where a schematic for the above could be found?

ThanksKarel.

I'm a genuine Beta fan and have visited this site a lot aswell as this chat page. What gets me is that this is a PAL site so why is there so much chat all the time about NTSC? For the first time ever, does someone want to contribute/answer my messages? BTW, I always seem to go for Sony machines (as I collect all Beta items), are Sanyo also good?

Sam...

Control S, Control L, control T and Camera Remote jacks on VCRs are used to synchronize operations between two VCRs for automatic edition. Refer to user's manuals for more details.

Required cables are available from Sony.
