FREE! I have a Sony VP-5040 player which I am happy to give away free to a good home. It is in good working order, and includes the user manual and remote. Note that the cable for the remote is missing though.

I am located in the suburb of Marsfield, in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Please email me to arrange pick up details.

Regards,

John

Peter, SVHS taps cannot be played on a VHS machine this is due to the increased bandwith wich is used with SVHS. And when you put a Metal SVHS (i.e. JVC Professional S, Digital S)tape in a older type of VHS it could damage the life of your recorders head

I have inherited a pair of National AG6500 and a panasonic remote panel and Sony VO5630. Unfortunately no instruction books. If anyone has a book for either I would be grateful for the info.

Also can SVHS tapes be played on a VHS machine?

Hi all!

There's been a lot talked about using NTSC U-matic kit, America's full of clapped-out ex-community TV stuff going for loose change. There's literally thousands of items in ebay's video section on their US site (I looked at ebay's UK site but there's almost nothing video there at all!) Shame, because it's a great way of buying used kit on a budget.

Interestingly, unlike other video formats, U-matic cassettes last for the same length when used in PAL or NTSC because it's the drum that changes speed and not the tape - clever little gimmic. It's worthwhile remembering that many NLE capture cards just won't handle intercutting PAL and NTSC material and will usually output in the standard captured i.e. NTSC in, NTSC out. If the kit hasn't got a transformer that can be swithched over to 240v then that's going to be more hassle.

On another note my, well my employer's, new system is arriving from Freehand in Guilford sometime within the next couple of weeks. Discreet edit*, paint* and effect* on an IBM Intellistation M PRO. Phwoaarrr!!!! Can't wait!
