Hi everyone!

I've got hold of a recently made low-band recording (on SP tape) to try out the VP-5030. When the tracking knob is in the 'fixed' position I get a regular flurry of white tearing across the bottom of the picture. When I turn the knob all the way to the left it instantly clears to an absolutely perfect picture. Is the deck just badly off bonk and in need of a line-up or should I just leave the knob to the left? Cheers.

We'ge got a HDW-700a WSP with an Agenieux lens on rent for $ 1250 an hour. With a depost on it of a $4000 as a minimuim. I dont thank anyone sells these things second hand yet. You can only get these HDW machines new from your local Sony Broadcast and Professional reseller.P.S. These machines are not you're everyday ENG-camcorder machines, their high-preformance high resolution digital movie camcorder For conversion to TV broadcast you'll need a full size deck with an AD/DA mapper and a conversion board. The output from the portable HDW machines is good for previewing but not broadcasting

Help wanted - I need a service manual and a users manual for a sony VP5000 player. Copies or scans are fine. I'm looking for info on the sync connectors and the remote connector so I can use it in a cable station.

Thanks,Troy

ROLF!......

Don't worry about it; My Mother never got used to it either, fortunately my wife is rather more tolerant; at the moment my edit suite's set up in the living room ...... The Triumph Herald having taken my dad's business unit over. ....some day I'll get round to building office space in there <g>

...I BVH in the living room Hmmm ....

I'll take a look at the site you mentioned Tom, thanks.

BTW ..when you pass your test what you really want is a Morris Minor van <g>

'Ello there!

I'm getting the BVH from the BB-list (www.bbist.co.uk) there's loads of great stuff being offered on the site, most of it at pretty fair prices. BB-list offers an 'escrow service' so even though you're buying blind you get 48-hours to try the kit out after it's been delivered.

I'm taking driving lessons at the moment so by the end of the year I should have a car of my own to load up with as much old gear as I can get my hands on! My parents have never quite warmed to the large pieces of roaring machinery that keep appearing in my room and getting in the way of the hoover...

Tom, Tapes in Hilversum , Holland still suplies one inch. They sell both types, the B-tapes (as used on the Bosch BCN-series) and the Sony C-tapes as used on BVH and Ampex machines. you can find them online at http://www.tapes.nl , i don't know if they ship outside holland. The've got a lot of tapes in stock for fairly good prices. Recently i bought some new M-II tapes for a bargain!

Good kick eh :-) ...It's knowing where to kick I suppose.

...DOn't tell me you've found a 1" machine???

The tape is expensive; too expensive, best seek out some second hand ...I think Stanleys do new stuff.

Hi Matt, and all,

Sure is a dodgy connection somewhere - I resorted to giving it a good kick and it came back to life again. All seems fine but I'll search for the cause anyway - there's nothing worse than kit you're never quite sure will work the next time you go to use it. I've cleaned up the heads but they're very tired - loads of sparklies and streaks but not bad for a freebie machine.

P.S. Anyone know of a supplier of 1"C format videotape?

Hi Tom...

.....God! 1982! year you were born! ...scary!

..anyway, enough of my mid life crisis rehersal .... Clean the heads Tom, then , with a wooden dowel or somethng wequally non-conductive, start GENTLY proding components..

Electrolytics are my favourite ..the often 'go' sometimes piddling down their own legs, but it might be something as simple as a connection which has become oxidised

...but the way to go is a gentle examination of the said beast looking for dry joins etc ...it's quite possible the heads are gone or just badly choked ...does that model mute the video 'till there's a stable rf signal off the heads?

Howde!

Our clients turned up on a location shoot today with a beat-up 5030 lo-band player from their boardroom (they got it in Jan '82 - when I was born!) and wondered if we wanted to take it off their hands as it was just gathering dust. Why aren't there more people like that?

The tape laces perfectly and all the transport is remarkably still very quick off the mark and acurate. When I first hit play I just got sound - the video was absolutely blank. After a while it flickered into life, kept a good picture for a couple of minutes then dropped to black again. I've left it playing tapes for a few hours but still no picture - just absolute black. Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

Reply on 1 Inch Machines. Sony also made the BVH 3000 series on wich they based their DVH digital 1 inch machines. Wich also has players and editors with the same type number

Does anybody know what value the capcitor C10 on the PW1A board has inside an Philips BTS LDK6 CCU module, i know this one is tricky since it's a single (one phase) mounted needed for the 12.5 volt stabilisation.

Hi everyone!

I've just been looking around for one-inch VTRs, I don't want anything too old so I've been looking at Sony's BVH series, pretty damn sexy looking machines if you ask me! I'm interested in the BVH-2000. It was said by someone to be "One of the best broadcast tape machines ever made". I've found two at the right price - The first has a pretty bare control panel with little else but a PLAY button on it, the other has edit controls and a RECORD button. Why is one a player and the other a recorder when they both share the same model number? I know it's not a U-matic related question but I'd be grateful to anyone who could explain it.

Also I noticed that one-inch machines output a loud one second 'rumble' on the audio once they get up to speed. Anyone out there have any clue what this is? Is it an indicator they're up to speed or what?

Cheers.

Does anyone know the differences betwee the BVU-150 and VO8800 Sony SP portables? They seem almost identical in features and specs, is the BVU-150 a more high-end pro model (higher-priced)?
