I have an old Philips VR6560(bought in 1983?):For the past 6 month the sound have started to go bad (Disturbance so loud that I cannot hear the real sound)and I have had to "heat"/run it for 10 min before the the sound is OK again. Obviously this is very anoying and I would like to do something about it.

I know only a little about electronics but I guess some of the electrolytic cappactors have gone bad but I do not realy know. (it is worth noting that sound from a prerecorded tape is OK without "preheating")

I do not have the circuit drawings (Where can I get them?) and do not know if this will be adifficult task to tacle.

Does anybody have any idea what is wrong and what can be done about it. I do not want to throw away the best VCR I ever bought and I think paying for a repair would be to expensive for an old recorder like this.ThanksEric

I have a Siera 20VR22 that I want to get rid off. If anybody wants it you can have it. Sometimes the tapes got stuck in the machine but I do not know if this was due to the bad state of the tapes or not. Otherwise it works fine.I live in Belgium and as I'm giving it away for free, I don't want to pay any shipping cost. You can mail me directly; if I don't get a reply within 2 weeks it'll have to go.

Hi Video 2000 fans,

internet official for CVC detail: http://bidouille.dyndns.org/~bruno/technicolor.htm

Epilog : CVC Technicolor VCRs have been largely marketed in Germany under the Quelle, Grundig and Uher brands as well. When the Video 2000 standard has been launched by Philips and Grundig, it was once planned to re-use CVC system as a Video 2000 derivative portapack format. For those who ignore it, Video 2000 was a system that used only the half width of a 1/2" tape to achieve video recording. So, as the audio cassettes, Video 2000 cassettes had two usable sides for recording and playback (no autoreverse machines were built). If you only use the half width of a 1/2" tape, that means that you record on a 1/4" width. The big idea was then to use a modified CVC system to record a Video 2000 compatible video tape that could have been played back on conventional decks with an adaptator (like the VHS-C). No further development occured... Well, where are we now, after all that babbling ?? But right here, I'll say..... Finding a CVC VCR today is quite an impossible mission today in France. But more, I ignored that other models than the portapacks existed. I don't think that the VCR pictured below ever existed in SECAM and had been imported here.

Bye Sergio

Can anyone advise on alternative formats ?I have just found the most amazing stash of old video equipmentI am familiar with Betamax & V2000 (just picked up a BIG box of tapes) , & have heard of U-matic, but I've seen some items tonight which have really baffled meSome of the equipment is ex-Grampain TV studio - would I be correct in calling it "one-inch video" ? It uses heavy metal spools - there are several cased systems + tapesAlso, which shape is U-matic ?There are several boxes of tapes, some square, like my school used to use, but thee are also some huge oblong cartridges - any idea which format they might be ?

I'm unfamiliar with v.c.r. parts terminology,so I apologise for asking simple questions.I have a Grundig Stereo vcr dated 1982 inside. The picture became poor,so I took the lid off it to see if I could improve it by fiddling about inside. Well, I ruined two small parts inside the spinning 'capstan'-like thing. I don't know what they're called, but they are about 1.5cm long,0.75 cm wide and 1.5 mm thick. They were set 180 deg. opposed to each other with their curved ends inline with the circumference of the 'capstan'. I deduce from reading up that they are a peizo-electric micro-adjustment device for keeping the reader/writer in line as tracks on the tape. I'm not bothered about a decent quality picture, so can these parts be replaced with something bodged up at home,as I don't want to spend anything to repair it. Thanks in advance.

I have stored a Philips PAL N1500 VCR and tapes since when they became obsolete, checking it occasionaly over the years, but now it is finally not working. I had a look inside and all the rubber belts have perished. Does anyone know if it's possible to find replacements?...and if so, can anyone supply information on just where and how the belts should be fitted. Failing this, is anyone interested? I have a lot of tapes of TV transmissions from back then.

Sorry for my english...... I have an old Philips VR 2840, bought in 1985, unused since years because of two problems... and maybe someone resolved them.

1) Since the very first times, it had a record problem: if you press record(or even when it starts from timer) and the heads aren't running yet, the recordings are corrupted in a strange way, you have b/w images, but not color, and with a noisy flashes (crominance information?) that corrupt all with a frequency of about 2/3 of second. It is difficult to explain with words but, if you have already seen it, you can understand what i mean. The records are ok, almost all the times, if you play the tape, that is running, and AFTER you press record, so that it seem to be a problem of tracking/speed?

2) It is years that I don't use it, so the memory backup is gone...... when mains fail, you have to reprogram all... and it is a bit boring.Which component i have to change?

Thank you in advance, if someone can help me, I wish to use it i a control camera vcr system.

Everyone.

Though this is not related to Video 2000's I have to mention this as it's important.

My mate Doug in Victoria Australia whom has a collection of vintage video equipment is getting rid of three 2 inch Quad VTRs as he needs space for some LMS machines. As there's virtually no marketing in 2 inch VTRs he's going to get them destroyed for scrap metal unless someone is willing to take them off his hands. The 2 inch VTRs are: RCA TR-61, RCA TR-70 and an Ampex AVR-2 all in PAL format. These are very few remaining 2 inch quad VTRs left in Australia.

Anyhow I was wondering if anyone here is interested in these VTRs or know of anyone who is interested in them? If so then here's Doug's email address for you's to contact [email protected] . Also contact me too at [email protected] or [email protected] . I'll be asking around on various message boards and groups and emailing various video companies to see if I can find anyone who's interested as well as I desperately want to see these VTRs go to a good home instead of being bulldozed and used as scrap metal.

Lastly a few things to mention, the suitable environment for these machines would be a room with a tiled or carpeted floor and air conditioning is preferrable too especially in hot weather conditions. Also Doug uses 60 psi of absolute dry compressed air when operating these VTRs.

For Sergiolatino. Mysterious 2x4 the super stereo-reverse of which I spoke to you I have seen it leaf through an old review of video of 1982 where they introduced mini-v2000, the models vp200 and vp300, the portable adapter wma2000 and the only vr2200 v2000 (cassette standard) PHILIPS sold also from Grundig and others. Consideration: the minivideo2000 it has not been launch on mercatoper the two reasons: 1): LOSS OF TIME WITH SYSTEM CVC FUNAI THAT HAS CONFUSED THE IDEAS TO THE CONSUMERS YOU SEE MODEL VP100.2): the Philips was it participated in the study of the video8 together to SONY HITACHI MATSUSHITA JVC, but that last the two worked also for the Vhs-c. FOR this reason to Grundig (controlled from the PHILIPS) abandoned the plan.

For Anton George Rossi and Marco NL and Forum Video 2000

I know all that I have read your email. Creed that the portable models VMC sold only the distributor Italian Grundig joint-stock corporation to Trento (North Italy) and impossible to find all the storees Italian. The models of Grundig 2X8X (4 figures) mean the double speed and models 2X0X (4 figures) mean single speed with 4 hours for side also the Italian brand Minerva OEM. But I do not have article or specialistic review for model Grundig prototype 2x4 super reverse stereo noalso to search forum Internet Video 2000. Just for multitrace PCM: The 2 traces of the inclination of the recorded tracks have one audio trace PCM and one trace video like video 8 PCM. To think next to VHR 2000 = Video High Resolution 2000 (high band with video analogic) and Data 216:9 (high definition 16:9 with digital video), but I have made the design logo original Data 216:9 and it is in order to end to calculate new length duration (also meters and speeds to the tape) for video digital like D-VHS (Data VHS) D-Theater Region 2 and Data Beta (I have made the design logo originatel) in my computer, also it is my dream.

For sergiolatino and all the friends of the forum. The models vp -200, vp-300 as the relative video cassettes calls mini or baby and the adapter wmc120 are alone prototypes or at least in Italy never have not been commercialize to you. but to me it would appeal to to be contrasaid. Grundig in the same period was in order to produce a v2000 with autoreverse said "2x4 super-reverse stereo" which it allowed not to extract and to turn the video cassette, perhaps this plan was abandoned because of chasing stategia of the VHS and proposed the versions LP (2080 - 2280 -2280a)con 8 hours for side. To think to a super video 2000 to extended band, with longplay (XL), stereo for the audio-testine linear, Hi-Fi stereo for the digital trace them PCM, (with the possibility of multitrace PCM like in the video8)., and at the same time to a Camcorder to three ccd with the V2000 minium-video cassettes. All the compatible one with the standard of 20 years ago, but with extensive band like Hi - band- Beta or Hi8, and tapes to the evaporated metal... this is my dream... Product from the PHILIPS GRUNDIG SONY. When it touches to me to use my VHS and to see those lines in the fast search and to regulate the tracking, anger attacks me one.

Oh, grazie.

Oh, thank you. I have mistaken the duration VMC-60 instead of VMC-120 that is right. I knew for the fair of Photokina in 1982. Before fair CES, a portable videorecorder rare and prototype of Grundig was CVC (like Funai and Technicolor) in United States then the later months VMC in Europe. Videocassettes CVC and VMC are not compatible between they. But 2 models portable videorecorders VMC of Grundig VP -200 and VP-300 that have put to sell in Europe. I have a review of almanac to photograph year 1983 that is portable 2 VMC.

Per Anton Georg Rossi

Va bene così, posso fotocopiare tutti i diagrammi schematici? Quanto costano?

To Mike. Check your actual SCART connector. These connectors may be convenient compared to the old BNC/Phono type but are pretty flimsy by comparison. Check that non of the pins on both ends have come loose and been pushed back. I have had this happen many times. Also, when you put the vcr into place, make sure the connector doesn't get forced out. When this happens, generally you lose the picture, but not the sound. Rich..

To mike [above]

The SCART output on the VR2324 is standard configuration. If it isn't outputting anything then it's probably down to a dry joint on the PCB. Philips were the pioneers of such things like SCART. At the time everyone said 'oh no, you can't use something like that, you need proper phono and BNC connectors' and they snubbed VCRs without such connectors - how wrong were they? Where would the general public be without SCART? Admittedly it's not the best of connectors, but it's frightening the amount of people who ask me how to hook up a DVD, VCR and Sky/cable box to their TV.

VicRe head replacement. Maybe Philips can supply details of service engineers in your area and one may know the machines and be able to fix it. For sale: complete PHILIPS VIDEO 2000 camera

Haven't got the exact model number but it's a PHILIPS portable from 83 with everything included. It was working fine last time I used it (albeit some years ago) - for filming, viewing and connected with a VHS for copying.

Camera, microphone, normal lens, wide lens, 2 batteries, battery charger, recorder in its original case with shoulder strap, cables and manual (in Swedish) as well as the receipt.

The best that money could get back in 83 :-)

Goes to the highest bidder. The camera is currently in Sweden, but can be taken to Belgium for pick-up / shipping?

A short and simple question, maybe not so simple to answer: Who is the inventor of the V2000 system. Is it Philips or can it also be Grundig. Does anyone have some information on this, that can be tracked. The reason for this is that I (dutch) had an argue on this item with a German. I don't mind if it is a German invention, but I have always thought that it was an invention/devellopment from the "Philips Natlab" at Eindhoven.

Hi, can anyone help me find what is wrong with my Philips VR2424?

In fact it works very fine .... when it works !!I mean it is very hard to make it run in play or in fast mode. The only mode that starts easily and continues to work is the rewind (both ways are ok).I noticed that when making it play without any tape works and it helps in making it work for a while with tape inside, but after a few minutes, it will stop and disable any function. It then needs to be switched off and on again to clear. The front panel switches give the impulse but the motor stops after trying to turn for a very short time (same result with different tapes). It looks as if there was not enough power to drive the tape and the system stops automatically.Where can I check if the power supply ouput? I think it should be 5.1 volts but not sure.

Has anyone some technical manual for this model?I have a large quantity of these PAL V2000 and Betamax pre-recorded tapes and can may be help someone; if looking for something, just send me a list of what you are looking for - tapes are in english, french, dutch and german, including some Walt Disney, Warner, etc...)

Does anyone know the equivalent Philips machine (if there was one) to the Pye 23VR33. I have seen an image of it in a service manual and it looks like a VR2334 or VR2324. If you apply the normal conversion 'rules' it would suggest a VR2333 - but what is one of those?

I'm in the process of adding photos of some early VCR machines not just from Philips but also from Grundig, Loewe and hopefully sometime the USA Norelco if I ever get any pictures of those machines. I'll try and make the group as exciting as possible with adding pictures and even video files of what I've transferred from VCR cassette. I've got stacks of pictures of these old VCRs from various websites especially EBAY. Anyhow enjoy.

Cheers

Troy
