Please help...

I've been trying to repair my old Philips N1502 video recorder since I have some tapes I'd like to play.

Does anyone have one of these VCRs, in any condition, that I could perhaps buy and repair or just use as spare parts for my own machine?

Thanks in advance

Marie

Hello. Probably the only time on here.... Have been keeping my Grundig 2x4 Super and 2 dozen tapes for many years. Always intended to copy good stuff such as Beat Club from German TV, and some other music I recorded in late 80s.Unfortunately, now I have finally decided to do this, the set lasted about 30 minutes, when it suddenly started belching acrid grey smoke....! RIP. So - Does anyone want the tapes? Mostly bought new by myself and only used for personal TV recording. Mainly BASF 480s. Although I did aquire some 2nd hand Grundigs. I m sure the BASFs would still record fine. Don t want anything for them, although if anyone who wants them could do me a favour.....? One of the tapes featured Heartbeat - A charity music concert from 86. I was watching that when it went up in smoke. I d love to have a copy of that. Anyway, tapes are free, but must be collected from Stourbridge, which is near Dudley - West Midlands. Anyone interested, please mail me.Regards,Mick farmer

Hello

I'm auctioning a fully working Philips N1501 on Ebay in excellent condition, please take a look if that's of interest, item number 300366765292

It's quite unusual to find an N1501 model in any condition nowadays, so thought some fellow collectors reading this page might like to hear about it.

Best wishes

Hello!I just bought a Radiola 20VR23 V2000 VCR, the French equivalent to the Philips VR2023. But when I plug it in, it goes fast forward for some seconds. During that, no button responds, no fonction is available. Then it goes in standby mode and a little dot lights up in the bottom-right corner of the band counter. No fonction is still available. I cannot even set the clock. Help me please! Thank you in advance.

I have just been given a 'Grundig System Video 2000 (2x4)

There is one tape in it.

I notice when I pull back the top plastic cover on the tape I do not see any tape going over the brass rollers...is this normal.

When I place the tape in the machine I hear a flapping wing noise and then a sudden motor whirl down and then silence.

When I try to play the tape I hear the same noises.Taking the top cover off the actual tape playing area has another steel cover over it so I can not see what is happening.

Any ideas?

Cheers Jim

Du Pont produced a longer V2000 tape called a VCC540. This produced a tape length of 9 hours (4h 30 mins per side). I bought a couple in Holland, not sure if they were available anywhere else? My Grundig 2x4 Super used to think it was a 4 hour. Much later a similar problem with VHS 300 tapes and the ATTS system (although at least with my VS660 Nicam you can adjust and enter the tape length via the remote) Also Grundig produced (towards the end) a really good looking VCC with a much larger tape window(during the maple leaf shield period - I guess when Philips had a share in the company).

Hi everybody,I wanted to reactivate my Grundig 2X4, which was stored for 2 years after working absolutely fine without any problems. Now it does not run the cassettes (run, fastforward and reverse) any more. What can happen in the retirement (in my dry and clean cellar) with the system?Does anybody know a technician/TV service in Nuremberg (or close-by) who still repairs V2000? (should be, since Grundig produced in Nuremberg-Langwasser).

I have a fully operational Phillips VR2324 machine (V2000) for sale. It has recently been fully overhauled, and has a new pinch roller and memory battery. I have just finished copying all of my old V2000 tapes on to DVD using this machine. It is a European spec. model with a PAL B/G tuner. It will play all V2000 tapes, but will only record in the UK via the SCART input. This works fine. I can provide photos of the machine by email. Offers please.

I also have a quantity of used V2000 tapes, a mixture of VCC360 and VCC480. These have various old programmes and films taped during the period 1980 - 1987.

This is not a technical question in any way, but I am looking for one or two programs from the eighties - and because these are the video recorders from that time, just maybe someone here can help me. I am looking for the Noel Edmnds Saturday Roadshow from 1988 (sorry, I have no specific date)? Did anyone perhaps record this on their vcc (or VHS or betamax or Umatic etc., I have placed this message on other forums as well)? There was an item on there called "clown court" that I am trying to find. Thanks.

If your VCR only needs new pinch roller, any engineer should be able to fit new one as same as VHS machines. Early Philips VHS models (maybe even later ones) probably used same rollers. I bought VHS parts (rollers and drive belts) for my Grundig V2000 videos and fitted them myself - a while ago but if memory right, roller just pulled off spindle.

I recently bought a Philips VR2424 Video 2000 vcr. Unfortunately it damages tapes during playback. Picture looks good, although wind back and the damage done is clear to see. I'm told it may be due to a Pinch Roller problem.

Anyone recommend a UK based Engineer, still capable of handling the format?

Hi, Love the site. especially the V2000 section. I just wonder if anyone can help. I have a Pye (Phillips?) 23VR33 machine, but it does not seem to be listed on the site? There is a 34 so is this it by another name? I am also in the process of transferring V2000 tapes to dvd via lovely Sony MC3 without need for PC. Thing is there is on some tapes a central band of interference across the picture. is there any way of removing the band? Should I try another machine if I can get one? Thanks

Hello all!I bought a Grundig Video 2000 machine in 1982. It came with a add on remote control unit, and it cost me a total of 685. When you consider that I only earnt 65 a week in those days, that was quite a lot of cash! It was a fine machine when it worked, but it did have a few problems with drop-out, etc. Even the tapes were very expensive, with a 8 hour (480)tape setting me back around 24 a time. Madness! It's good to see that the old format is still being talked about. I still have loads of tapes, and 1 machine, (not the original though) this one cost me 25 about 15 years ago. Not sure if it still works. Must try it out one day.I will return to this site soon, but for now, cheerio.

Have aquired 2 tapes of ebay of FIRST BLOOD AND RAMBO FIRST BLOOD PART 2.

I am looking for a service manual (the electrical and mechanical parts) for a Grundig 2x4 Video 2000 machine - the familiar brown and gold finished beast. Ideally a printed copy, but a photocopy or scan would be close second choices. Any advice or pointers in a useful direction would be very welcome - thanks in advance.

Hi all,

My Philips VR2350 Matchine V2000 VCR (in the UK, a specially-imported model) has developed a fault - it hasn't been used for a while. On powering up, the clock display is blank and the beeper is switched on permanently. Meanwhile, all of the segments of the function display are lit up. There were a few dry joints, which have been resoldered to no avail. I've also replaced the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply - but this made no difference. Does anyone have any idea as to what's wrong? I've tried looking for a circuit diagram or service manual on-line, but to no avail. If a kind reader (probably resident in Europe) could e-mail be one, that would be terrific and I would be eternally grateful! Kind regards, Martin

Hi

This is the latest in a line of requests for someone who can service/repair a V2000 machine (and an N1700 as it goes). I know there have been other requests and I can't find any replies but I am ever positive and hoping that the rest of the exchanges were private and all these people now have fully functioning machines, hmmmmm.

Otherwise, there is a solution but not an cheap one that I am on the cusp of using. There is a guy in Holland who services, repairs and sells V2000/N1700 machines. He sticks them on Ebay on a regular basis. The ones he sells were built for the european market and I believe there were some compatibility issues when playing into a UK TV. He did explain it to me but my tiny non-tech brain could not take it in. However, he is prepared to service and repair my machines but I, obviously, must shoulder the cost of shipping. It depends entirely on how much a working machine is worth to you.

I am here exploring the alternatives. If nothing comes from this site I will go ahead and let you all know how it works out.

I have sent an e mail to the Dutch guy asking if I can give out his details on this site. It may be that he is already known to this community. His Ebay handle is Charly_Rackslider and you could track this down by searching on Ebay for these machines.

Hopefully more later,

Phil.

Re Grundig 2x4 drive belts. Try Grandata in Wembley, tel 020 89002329, part ref BK 94, or Visionaids tel 0195 2273130 (if phone number still same - or look for website to check) part Konig 7535.10 - Grundig fitted same belts in many early VHS machines so were still plenty about but not listed under V2000 models.

I have recently rescued my Grundig VR2000(2X4) from the attic, with the intention of transferring my old tapes to DVD. Unfortunately internal examination of the machine revealed a broken belt for the cassette mechanism....anyone know of a source of belt kits for these machines? Dimensions 112 x 1 x 6 mm.

Long shot, thanks for any tips/advice/etc/

VR2023 CTR board wanted:

I require a CTR (processor) board U20 for a VR2023, or a whole scrap machine. Can anyone help? I'm based in Devon but also visit Bedfordshire sometimes so may be able to collect.

The battery leaked all over mine, and though I was able to bring it back to life for several years, it's now expired.

Thanks for any help.

Happy New Year,I have a Philips V2000 video circa 1987 that is in good condition and has been stored in my mother's attic for several years. It appears to work perfectly well, but I only have one tape that says "faulty" on it, so I'm not 100% certain. It definitely is electronically sound.....I would like it to go to a good home and suspect that there is a market for these wonderful old machines. If anyone is interested, just let me know at [email protected] Thanks,Roy

I really wish I'd seen the ad above when it was posted - I'm in East London and a stash like that is what I've been waiting years for! (And I haven't even taken the plunge vis-a-vis a machine yet!) I haven't visited PALsite for a number of months and just took a quick look on Christmas Eve - and ended up totally kicking myself!

I have just inserted an ad on ebay this evening, selling a batch of 5 Pye/Philips V2000 VCR's and with over 300 Pre-Recorded tapes!! The starting price is low with NO Reserve. All units have some kind of fault, but Service Manuals are included! The only downside is that the buyer has to collect due to the sheer weight of the whole batch. Searching for Philips Pye V2000 VCR should easily find this 10day listing. It may take a few hours yet for it to appear. Thanks for reading. Please see the ad for more details and pictures. A hobbyist could have a field day with this lot - wish I had the time
