I live in Sheffield and have a number of faulty Grundig 2x4 Super and 2080 VCRs, and full service manuals (and 200 plus film library). Is there anyone in the area who can repair the machines. Please phone me on 0114 2686058.

I have been given a Philips Vr 2022, Video Cassette Recorder. It came with 13 cassettes and uses the V2000 format. However it has not been used in a LONG time and now I cannot get it to work. After turning the machine on, all the lights, clock, counter etc. lights up. The ejecct button works, however if you insert a V2000 cassette and try to Play, Record, Fast Forward or Rewind the machine makes a hammering noise and the tape moves VERY slowly. After about 20 - 30 seconds the machine gives up and ejects the cassette. I hope soolmeone can suggest a fault, and / or a solution, as I wish to copy the cassettes over to Betamax (not VHS!!). All the Best. Luke

Great site. I have a 2x4 Super and a Pye 22vr20 portable all owned since new. The Super picture is jumpy in picture modes (any ideas?). Trivia - PD Magnetics sold a VCC540 tape (4hours 30 mins a side). I picked one up in a department store in Amsterdam a few years ago.

If you want any information on the portable V2000 (Philips VR2220) and it's Tuner/Timer Unit (Philips VR2120) for the V2000 PAL Website, then let me know as I have all the service manuals etc for this machine.

Keith.

PALsite have just added the full details of the 22AVS530 Video In/Out Adaptor. There are full circuit descriptions and alsosimplified versions. The adaptor was used to allow audio and video in and out connections to the V2020 -> V2023 models.

Wrong model number in above message - the portable I want heads/contact bridge for is a Philips VR2220 with the VR2120 tuner/timer unit.

Thanks again.

Does anyone want any parts from a PYE 20VR22 that I'm breaking up ? This also suffered from the head drum problem I meantioned earlier but since I also have a Philips VR2022 with a similar problem.

Also does anyone know a source of Video heads and contact bridge for the portable V2000 ( VR2022 ). It's still working at the moment but the head are looking a bit worn and it's recordings contain a lot of drop-out.

...and finally a problem with a ITT VR483 ( VR2021 clone) , the tape runs very slack after it leaves the drum and keeps getting chewed up around the pinch roller.

Thanks,Keith McHugh.

Anybody out there interested in a Philips VR2021 (I think) V2000 VCR?My parents have had one in their attic for years and they might be planningto junk it - I reckon it would be very cheap (or maybe even free), foranyone who wants to ship it (it's heavy though!)Last used in 1992, when the TV tuner (and playback) has a flickeringhorizontal band going up (or down?) the screen....

Hi Keith,

are you able to scope the connections to the motor. It would be interesting to know if the motor is stopping because it is brokenor because the singles to it have stopped.

Does anyone know a cure to this fault that seems to happen to all the early Philips V2000 machines I've had in the past.

Sometimes the machine starts to lace up but the head drum isn't spinning, or is only spinning slowly or spins normally then stalls either at the end of the loading sequence or a few seconds into playback. This seems to happen mainly with the VR2022 machines I've had - one got this fault after having a head change.

Any thoughts ?Thanks,Keith McHugh

Whilst developing this new site, it definitely brought back some fond memories. I never owned one of these units personally but a number of my friends had them. They always looked like a superior system, as usual that simply means it won't succeed. Just imagine where we would be today if this system had stayed strong!

Good Luck with the V2000 site. I'm too young to remember the format but it was very interesting reading about all the early features that Philips thought up and how they were adopted by the newer formats so much later. I was also intrigued by a reference to an earlier video system made by Philips. Any plans to do a site for this Alan?
