Fault and repair guide

VCR is sluggish in or fails to wind

Internally the VCR contains many drive belts which are used in the mechanics of tape transport. With age these belts become slack causing malfunctions and when this happens the whole lot should be replaced.

Strange behaviour of capstan or drum servo

The first thing to check is the tantalum capacitors in the servo circuit.

Faulty tracking adjustment and loss of CTL pulseReplace on the Servo board,
all Sanyo Blue light electrolytic capacitors.
VTR go in autostop in play modeAfter replace all belts and clean all idler,
the VTR don't go in playback, check the Capstan Motor.
If Stuck it, need a another one.
the motor is a BHF-1100D.

Loss of CTL pulse after, replaced capacitor on the servo boardCheck the back tension arm (and band) and re-adjusted.
If necessary replace it the back tension band.
Fast Capstan MotorRe-Adjust RV7 (Capstan Free Run) to have 5.5V +/-0.3V
on TP5 to the Capstan section. If not possible to have a steady ready, is probably suspect the tantalum capacitor on the Capstan section.
CAPSTAIN MOTOR SEIZED!IT IS POSSIBLE TO FREE OFF THESE MOTORS WITH A HAIR DRYER FOR THE TOP BUSH..GET IT MOVING WITH A DROP OF WD40 THEN REMOVE PULLY AND USE A DRILL TO GENTLY FREE IT OFF..ONE OR TWO DROPS OF LIGHT OIL TO FINISH AND OFF IT GOES..IT'S THE SAME MOTOR AS ON THE C7 BHF-1100D
