Setting the timer on a NV1500 machine

These early VCR timers were accurate only to the nearest minute as they used a crude mechanical timer. In comparison, modern video machines use electronic timers accurate to the second.

The term given to timer recordings on this VCR system was blind recording.

Turn the central knob of the timing device in a clockwise direction until the correct time is registered.
Turn the right-hand knob in an anti-clockwise direction until the beginning of the red sector is at the time that the programme you wish to record commences. Carefully study the diagram.
Pull out the right-hand knob. Turn it in an anti-clockwise direction until the end of the red sector is at the time that the programme you wish to record finishes. Carefully study the diagram.
When the left-hand knob is at "12" the recorder will start immediately the set time is reached. When the knob is at "24", the recorder will start when the set time is reached for the second time (i.e. 12 hours later). Set the knob to "12" or "24", as desired.
