Regarding changing the character output on the BVW series there is a switch marked S1 on the top of the VO-18 board that will make the background either white on black or black on white.

Error 02-403 on a UVW series betacam means slack tape has been detected. Sometimes just powering off the machine and repowering with the eject switch held down will free the tape. However,sometimes the reel motors themselves can fail or there can be dry joints on the motor driver board or bad connections on the ribbon cables.

I just ran across an old TV studio equipment storage site. All is BETA. Editing equipment, Monitors, consoles, Tape untits. Color adjustment stuff. These are all in console units, heavy racks. This is a treasure place for Beta people. It is all going to the "Earthen Grave" (landfill) if nobody wants it. This is not an Ebay thing. It is going to get dumpstered.

I inherited a Sony Pro Betacam SP from an uncle. I looked at the model and it is a UVW-100. It has a Canon VCL-713BX. One battery and that's about it.

I've searched on the web & found a few links for similar cameras but, all on rental sites with little description. I am not a professional camera man. I have been playing around with a Canon XL1 and am comfortable with it. I'd like to know what I'm getting into with this camera.

Hi Does anyone know of the details of an intermittent sound fault in Channel 2 on the Sony Beta SP BVW-400. I've heard a very faint rumour that Sony recommend a replacement for a multi-connector that went from the back to the front of the camera. However I'm unsure of the connector they meant or whether our camera was effected by it? Anybody know or can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi, I am using a couple of DSR 500WSP cameras on a job and wish to get component vid out of the 26 pin connector (sometimes called a 24pin connector!). The manual says " when no external VCR is connected the camera does not supply any signal".

How does the camera know there is a VCR connected?

To Seymour Watson-Grant:It's more easy Editing with Pentium/PC based machine with high end Video Editing plug in than using Mach/G4 based machine (Mach cannot be upgrade easily/hardware dont have many compatiblity).

From what i know there's no such Betacam capable of Firewire.

You can use ordinary RCA/analog/MiniDIN line IN/OUT to and from Betacam through Editing card port in most P4 Based machine.

You can use your G4 with MiniDV/DVcam for video Editing.

I've got a problem with my Canon EX1 whereby when you put a tape in it it refuses to do anything other than flash eject after about ten seconds. It won't play, record, FF or REW. I did have it working earlier in the evening before this occured but the picture on playback was very distorted.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Also, can anyone recommend a decent shop who will be able to repair this model (I've been lead to believe that people who can repair the EX1 are increasingly hard to find - hope I'm wrong).

ERROR 90 on a bvw-75p is a system error and is usually because the SY61 board has worked loose. It is at the front of the machine under the control panel and probably just needs pushing home.
