_@_v - eeee! i'd take 'em both!!!
HelloI am looking for several Specials that aired on TV in the 70's. Does anyone have access to the Natalie Cole Special that aired in 1978, also I'm looking for any Natalie Cole footage during the 70,s, 80's especially Natalie on Mike Douglas, Midnight Special, Solid Gold ect., Please e-mail me at [email protected]. will pay for footages including Live performances
ThxRonald
well does anyone have old tapes of local newscasts or All My Children episodes taped? I want to start a collection of old news jingles, and would like to see AMC from the very beginning. LOL, find the U-mie masters! awwww!!! VP-5000 would be a very happy deck! Is it true that in the 70s ABC reused u-mie master tapes from some game shows instead of buying new ones because they were so expensive? :( I found some L-830 UHG tapes @ the flee market, and 1 virgin Ampex 30 min Betamiecam tape. The Pro8amie has an ENG look to it, right? Or the CCD-V8! That's the one I want!!!!
Is it all right to laugh @ people who set RIDICULOUS start and BIN prices for silly items such as this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3027791044&category=39830 :( I feel soo sorry for them.. I'd feel bad if I did laugh at them, like I am tempted to do @ the flee market when they tell me they want $150 for a Powerbook 150C!
Here's the same dude selling a PDmagnetics tapes for the same rediculous price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3027791078&category=39830
Even more ironic is the fact that eBay created a Beta VCR category (39830) but replaced the Beta tape one for an "other formats" one.
Jeez, Madness, and he can't even spell. What is this world comming to... the tape has "FOOTAAGE OF A PARACDE" on it, whatever that is... :)
Yeah, I noticed that myself. Makes me wonder just what he'd been smokin'. ;)
Hello everyone,Can anyone help me? I'm looking for high quality pictures of the following videorecorders for a book I am producing:SL-6300, Sony CV2000, Sony Umatic (any model), Sony ED Beta Pro 9000.
If you have this, please let me know. If not, any hints on where I can find it is appreciated.
Peter
Hell, I'll sell him every tape I have for $5 each... :) Someone really should tell him that ßeta tapes run around ~$3.00 each...

_@_v - my nomination for the stupidest, and certainly the most pointless product ever put out by the Japanese electronics industry...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3028240826
Teac "o'casse" open reel cassette system. You got 4 reels of tape cassette and a takeup reel to thread into an itty-bitty cassette housing. The whole point of the compact cassette is so you wouldn't have to be bothered threading tape...
well leave it to the meanie Japs to make something like that; I've been LOOKING for cassette tapes that have those little reels in them! You know how when you buy a walkman or something it comes with a paper insert that has a cassette printed on it? That's how those tapes look, and I want some tapes that have little reels like that, LOL!
teacy tiki tiki!!! [(O)(O)]....**__@__ threading is such a pain.... [(O)..............___@_**....(O) eeeeeee! get back here!
_@_@_¼¼ - what the ?!? i grow an extra shell?
_@_¼¼ - I used to have one of those tapes with the little reels in them (not the o'casse type with interchangable reels) but it got eaten or something and I bent the reels tryingto threads some new tape in them.
Having squished the JVC deck the SL-10 settles down in his easy chair to a night of television with the remote by his side...

hey, I'm looking for a name of a movie that was only for betamax. it is a movie of a boy, an gigantic snake called dana and a black man, can someone help me with the names of these movies? tnx
My toshiba VW80 8 head VHS VCR has digital noise reduction and alot of the tapes i buy from the USA are linear stereo and encoded in dolby b type NR. My toshiba also has HIFI and NICAM digital hifiSo VHS ain't that bad, i watched the unrated version of pitch black yesterday and the quality is awesome but of course i have never used or seen an NTSC betamax recorder and original movie. Does NTSC betamax have 220 lines of chroma vertical resolution. I found a website with information on all the formats and VHS PAL has 140 lines, VHS NTSC 160 but BETAMAX PAL 200.
I notice that the C6 sony is not very popular here. Is this model hard to find or is it just too old. The machine is only mono but all tapes i play are played back with crisp,clear and loud sound , much better than some hifi vhs tapes i have. A great machineIf i could afford it, i'd buy a digital beta machine and record off TV with it.
I have put a SL-C9E up for auction on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3027999654
It is not in working order but could be useful for spares. It comes with the original manual and remote (RM-212). The unit is in Sydney, Australia. Email any questions, just remove all numbers from the address
Anyone have any info on the SL-HF 560? Saw one on offer on eBay and was wondering if it's a PAL deck or multisystem or just a multivoltage unit?
I recently came upon 2 Sony SL-2000 BetaPak portables (original boxes and everything is still wrapped up and untouched)
I'd like to sell one and keep the other but I might be persuaded to sell both.
So for now I've got 1 uber mint condition SL-2000 with everything! Email me if your interested. =)
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
Is that just the SL-2000 or did you get TT-2000 tuner modules with them? They're worth a little more with the tuners but not by much. $35 to $75 is about the general price range but you can get them for less and they've been sold for more...
Here are some pix of the SL-HF 560 I'd found on eBay. It seems to be a multivoltage version of the SL-HF 350. I don't think it's a PAL unit because it has standard US A/V and RF connections. Any other opinions?
http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/thebetamaxvideographer/lst?.dir=/SL-HF+560+pix&.src=gr
Actually it's a SL-2000 and TT-2000, my friend was mistaken both are brand new nothing has been taken out of their packages.
Well if you or he wants a working beta VCR then you'll need both units and obviously can disregard my message...
Olive: I've seen some "off" models like that before, perhaps you've heard of the SL-HF-780D??? I've got photos (bad ones from Ebay) but none of the back panel... The manual, however, is in English and some other language... French, Spanish, Italian, Esperanto, who knows... I'm not good with languages.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - yeep! got pix of the 780 from the samE-bay source....

_@_v - I love the dumb things people say in eBay ads...
_@_v - an ad for an SL-300 overanalyzed ala James Lileks ( http://www.lileks.com/ )....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3028448638&category=39830
"Considered by many to be a very rare model."
_@_v - and that holds what significance? Is that supposed to be an opinion on the merits of the VCR? Does that mean it was an unpopular clunker that nobody wanted the first time around? Or that people think it's rare on account of their stupidity or they can't count or something? Did you do market research on people's opinion on the rarity of this?
eeeeee! Hey evol how much do you want for the SL-2000amie?????
nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2417967509&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1
I am here in the US and would like to purchase a Beta PAL tape. Can I play a Beta PAL tape in my US Sony Betamax ? I really don't know the difference between a NTSC and a PAL tape, if there is any difference. Would appreciate any insight on this !
The only thing you could do with a PAL tape is record over it. Unless you have a multisystem machine, you can do nothing with a PAL tape but record over it. PAL is a different system from NTSC so you won't get a picture or HiFi sound, and the linear sound will be the wrong speed.
Sean,
That's what I needed to know... Thanks for the info
You're very welcome.
Dammit.. We've had a bunch of power fluctuations (because of "storms") and I've had to keep resetting a week's worth of programming (AMC, hehe :D) on the 300. I wonder what modifications would need to be done to it so that it has about 5 seconds or so of reserve power to keep the memory intact in event of a power failure; the Spamsung can be unplugged for up to 15 -30 seconds and still keeps its memory. The SL-2000 also stays on for about a second when you unplug it. The 300 just loses everything even if it's just a brownout. I suppose now's the time I should buy new batties for my Smart UPS 1000 and connect my Media Centre to it instead of that lousy surge protector. Also, can brownouts and ugly power events (power browns out severely, goes out, tries to come back and browns out again before failing!) gauss a projection TV's tubes? My parents' Toshiba has a bit of gaussing that goes away after it warms up, it looks like the old Mazda logo if you look at it. This is also why the convergence keeps drifting, too, right?
SUPER LOW PRICE HF 950, VERY LOW ALMOST NEED NO MONEY TO PAY...BUT YOU KNOW...THE SHIPMENT COST.........CANT IMAGINE......
Well Jesse I don't know anything about projection TVs but I do know I'm happy... VCRgary was supposed to send me a non-running SLO-420 (For free) but he didn't and I asked him and he said he forgot and he'd get right on it... so guess what shows up today... not a non-running SLO-420, but a running SL-2700! It sounds like it's tired (Grindy load) and the back outputs are flaky, but it runs just like a Beta should! So I called him, and he says "Oh, well that's where that went. Do you want it? Keep it!" So of course I kept it. He's sending me the book. It's missing all the front panel buttons except the play/FF/Rewind/Record/Dub cluster, so anyone with one could please tell me what the other ones are!
Sean,
I think I have a SL-2700B front panel lying somewhere. I'll look for it tonight.
Jesse:
Invest $50 in a small (500 VA) UPS.. best money you could ever spend.
:( :( I know, of course I want to buy a UPS for the Toshibatron but they're just so darned expensive!
The 2700 has the same problem my 900 does... but instead it's on the baseband outputs. If you turn it off and let it sit, some solders cool down and when you power it up the audio hums and there's a rolling line through the video. If you wait it goes away.
Is it a slowly rolling line going from bottom to top ??
If so it may be a power problem. If it tends to get better with use then it could be a bad capacitor. I'm thinking about that big 10,000 mfd can in the power supply section.
Yes that's it, a slowly rolling line from top to bottom. It gets better with use, continuous or otherwise. My 900 used to do it a lot but I left it on for a couple months straight and it didn't do it so bad, but it was only from the RF outputs and the RF units in those Sony's tend to be flaky as all hell. It got better when the unit was warm, so I'd think it's a bad solder, but I don't know, not being a tech...
time to do some tapping with tha soldering iron - _@_¼¼==|====-____[,,,,,=== ] - eeeee!
Thanks, Brenda Ann, but there is a compatibility problem. Unlike all the other variants, French SECAM L uses negative modulation, so a tuner has to deal with that as well as the different audio subcarrier separation. While SECAM shares the 625 line format with PAL, the colour setup is quite different. 3 frames have to be received and stored before colour can be displayed - originally in a glass tube delay line, but now of course electronically. The other SECAM variants all use positive modulation, so the Middle East SECAM VCRS readily available in the UK can't receive SECAM L.
My SLHF950E was imported from Germany, and can be switched to use VHF and the very slightly different mainland European channel frequencies, but it can't do SECAM. So I would be very interested to find a Beta machine capable of SECAM L. There are analogue converters available here for around 50 pounds, but the quality is terrible. A decent digital converter costs more than ten times as much!
Well I'm sure the 900 only has a thermal issue because the problem is ONLY on the RF output, the straight video is pristine from power-on. The 2700 is another story altogether, I'll keep you posted.

_@_v - eeee! got my PAL tapes and remote for that sl-t50-amie from brenda today...
_@_v - my NTSC tv can show the b/w part but not the color part of a PAL signal...
_@_v - guess i'll need to get a converter box...
flegh......

Olive:
It's actually cheaper to buy a nice little 13" color set that will display both PAL and NTSC anymore than it is to buy a convertor..
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
Trouble is I have a very nice stereo 20" TV set and no room for a little 13" multisystem set. If they sold a 20" stereo multisystem at a reasonable price I'd consider it but I also want to be able to dub tapes from PAL to NTSC or the other way around...
Here's a nice JVC Multisystem set.. haven't really looked at the auction yet, though..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3027506006&category=15083
OK.. I looked at it now.. it's brand new, and even right in your neck of the woods.. you might even be able to pick it up and save the shipping. :)
Ack!.. ship out only... $35 for FedEx Ground.. kinda silly if you live in or near the city.

_@_¼¼ - i'm gonna hafta be late paying the cable bill to be able to afford this but i'm finally gonna have an SL-HF 600 with full cable capability - assuming it survives delivery...
_@_¼¼ - and the seller is tossing in a VCR-100 Betamie - I already have one so now I'll have twins!!!!
_@_¼¼ - to clear house i'm gonna have to sell off few sundry beta items in case people have a use for them.
$25 + shipping on any of the follow items
A Trinicon camera (HVC-2xxx series) viewfinder assembly
HCV-2200 carry case
BMC-550/660 carry case
BCC-300 NP-11 triple charger
AC-M110 Power Adapter for Betamovie series cameras
VRP9852 12v power supply for SL-2xxx series portable Beta VCRs
If anyone is interested replace the .gastro.pod with .com
Somebody mentioned a while ago needing parts for an SL-2400. I have two carcasses on hand if you have a parts request. Both are missing their system control boards and I've already sold off one of their loader assemblies.

ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT BETACAM RECORDER THAT HAVE FIREWIRE COM/PORT..>>>

_@_v - eeee! you got off easy on that SL-HF 600...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3028594532&category=39830
_@_v - they want $699 bux for a used SL-HF 600 with a 'retail value' of $999. i bet they think they're doing you a favor too...
_@_v - if any Betacam has firewire it's likely of the Betacam SX or Digital Betacam series.
nnils: You got a nice remote. I've got one, Standard Issue with an SVO-140. All you'll miss is a few obscure funtions and the jog dial, but it's got the ring.
Olive: I'm not sure as to Macs, but with the A/V inputs on my PC, I can eat up any flavor of video except British 405-line and 875-line X-ray, and either watch on the monitor or output any other standard! Yipee! You might need to look into such a video board.
Brenda & Olive: Hey that Soadv character makes even snaling look cheap! He'd charge, say, $425-$575 for that deck, I'd say, while they ask about the low price spectrum of an HF-1000 and the high end for an HF-900!!!
Has anyone actually seen SOADV SELL a ßeta??
Not to my knowledge... Although they get the ocasional nibble on that SL-HF-2000 they have up. I think once they had a 2100 but that might not have even sold, surprisingly, as it seems to be the most valuable deck, but not the actual best.
I'm interested in a "new" betamax (PAL) VCRIt doesn't need recording capabilities. A player will do.
Hello my friends, it's me again, I'm not the devil, but not a heaven send.I'm really glad that this page is still up and running. I finally got a Umaticmachine, JVC, home model, nothing special, but sadly, I forgot the model number.It works really good, but finding standard 3/4" tapes is a pain. Only Umatic SP tapesto be found. Well, gotta go, -Derek
Hi, can anyone help me ? I have the Sony Betamax SL-F30 VCR which stops after a feel seconds when Playback, FW (everytime) or REW(Sometimes).I tried to clean the glude of the head motor but it doesn´t make changes, my question is : How can I do the modification sugested in repair center to change resistor R2 to 33kohms on panel RD20 if I don't know where is this panel ?Thank youMauricio Martins from Lisbon, Portugal
Ever thought about finding out where it is ??
You could consult a service manual for that matter..
Sean, don't worry about British 405 line, it mercifully died about 25 years ago along with VHF!
Can anybody tell me whether or not any of the assorted SECAM capable Betas people have mentioned can do French SECAM L - 625 lines, negative modulation, sequential colour, no PAL or NTSC compatibility?
Silly me I forgot that there is no more VHF in GB.... we've still got it here, and all the major chanels are on it. I'm not worried about 405-line. I was just naming the obscenely obscure standards my video board won't touch, Just for a lark.
Sony codes their boards by their function. The RD - 20 should stand for "reel drive". An "FU" board would be a Front Unit board like a button panel.
Some codes I've found..
"SS" = System/Servo
"SA" = Servo Audio
"SY" = System "DT" = Timer
"YC" = luminance/chroma
"PS" = Power Supply
"TR" = Power Transistor
"DS" = Drum Speed
"LA" = Lamp/Switch
"TU" = Tuner
"TS" = Tuner Set
"IF" RF Modulator
"CN" = Relay
"FG" = Capstan Fly
ANYONE INTERESTED IN B&W 2 INCH SONY CRT PORTABLE/WALKMAN TELEVISION.......????????????________________________________________________________________________________________

OK got it....i'll keep in mind...kinda very busy nowadays........i'll get in touch soon,,,,,,,,,
So many thing goes up these days......include that damm idiot stupid War and so on and so on
Is the B/W watchman burnable? I mean, can you burn an image onto it like you could with a CRT?
I was wondering if anyone out there who owns an SL-HF750 with an intact RMT-143 has programmed any of their buttons into a Philips Pronto/Marantz RC5000 ? If so, please drop me an e-mail, as I'd like to get the code sequences off of you. My RMT-143 died a while back, so I can no longer perform my Timer programming using the on-screen menus. I cannot find any other remote that has the "Timer Set" and "Clear" buttons that function with the 750.
Many advanced thanks.
Jesse:
Yes, the B/W Watchman is "burnable" just like a CRT, because it HAS a CRT. It's a really strange configuration, but it's a CRT. I like it better than an LCD set, if only for the fact there is no pixelization. I have one here, as well as a Casio color hand held TV.. the Casio has it's good points, but the Watchman is better overall (more sensitive, better on batteries (believe it or not) and easier to watch.)
Yeah Sean, I appreciate the gag. "Obscenely obscure" is a very good way of describing the 405 line format. I guess it was the price of our being the first in the world to start up a broadcast service in 1938, and probably looked good after the Marconi 250 line system which had been tested in closed circuit for a couple of years. I'm sure it delayed the public acceptance of larger screens here. You could see the lines on a 17 inch screen from 20 feet away! Even in the late 60s/early 70s a 21 inch screen was considered huge. I don't know what they would have made of my 32 inch widescreen!
So you still use VHF to a large extent? The only place in Europe that I know for sure it's still used is Belgium, and only for a couple of channels. I used to get VHF from Portugal, Italy and Spain across to Russia, Yugoslavia and Greece, but it all seems to be dead now. It may be used on low power in the Paris area for the pop video channel M6 - there are what I think are hybrid VHF/UHF aerials on many roofs - but that's outside my DX capability.
Can I get back inside topic and re-iterate that I would be really grateful for any info on SECAM L on Beta.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - The SL-T50ME I have gets SECAM 1 or SECAM 2.Can't say how that relates to SECAM L.
_@_v - Sleeched a nice big fat VO-5600 U-mie VCR at a garage sale for only $2 bux!
_@_v - best of all it actually works... kinda... sorta... needs a guide plate replaced and the usual tuning and adjusting but right now I can record and get a stable playback and the heads are still good...

eeeeeeeee! Well for some reason I thought that the B/W watchman had a different type of display, LOL. I thought it had a CRT but wasn't sure.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - when the frist 'Watchman' came out i can remember how popular science was talking about how innovative it was in it's flat screen design. before Watchman CRT tubes shot the image from an electron 'gun' behind the phospher screen in a straight line.
_@_v - like this...
electron gun -> -((((====c(_@_v)<-screen
_@_v - the Watchman's phospher screen was tilted at a slight angle and the electron gun shot from below the screen and scanned across the angled screen, reflecting instead of projecting the image.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - eeeee! stacks 'n stacks of §etas!!!!

No ...it is real CRT...just like the 60's TV when you turn it off.......F2D is the type......really cool, I only use once in a while in very spare time.
I'll enabled the Photo very soon ,what I worried is the shipping will it be on the appropiriate place or is just barnish in the ocean. I'll start "bidding" on this page at 500 bux ((since the $$$ decreasing it's value))including shipping worldwide.
If you feel the price is too high try to negotiate.This is not real bidding.
_@_¼¼ - is this the 'Watchman' you're talking about?

flerbah! Well, I wonder if for any weird reason a Watchman has been burned. Also, how long do you think it would take to burn? How about a new modern TV? How long would it take? Also, how do they make CRT's "burn resistant?" My ViewSonique monitor claims to be burn-resistant, and probably is as the Windoze login prompt was on the screen all night and all morning and it was fine. (had disabled screen saver and forgot to re-enable)

Hi: I have a beta VCR Model #SLHF-600. I have been advised by Sony that a repair requiresa new disk assembly. The part number by Sony is: 991099931 DSR - 50 - R. I would appreciate any advise on where to get a part or to get repair service. Sony states that the part is no longer available. Thanking anyone in advance.
Thanks, Olive, I'll research further on that. There are only 3 main varieties of SECAM plus the African B/G.
can i chat with my friends?
It depends. Guys, do we know her?
