_@_v - eeeee! an american §etamax somehow managed to make it's way down under!

_@_v - aussie seller with SLP-305 industrial 3 speed player-only unit...
_@_v - poor thing prolly wants to go home...
Does that KV-27V1 console actually have a vertical-loading beta deck built into it? Certainly looks like it.
Oh yeah, also got "Die Another Day" duping to a '750 as we speak. That'll complete my "Bond-Beta" collection. ;) Lesse, "Star Trek: Nemesis" to beta? Make it so #1!
Virus of the week Bugbear B (W32_Bugbear_B@mm) seems to have grabbed email addresses from old Yahoo Groups postings and pasted them into the "from:" line. It grabs the posting message and sends it to another address from the same thread (free inside: bugbear.B virus). My inbox contained 5 bounced copies of these with my address spoofed into the "from:" line, even though my computer was off the day they were sent.
lol... poor widdle virus babies... They'll never be able to get in on MY computer!
To Paul
Try another HF600 deck wich has a good Rotary Head and then Cannibal 'em.______________#__________________
Poor barbie Viruses never know how to get in my Window..pity pity little viruso.....
Love to have Nemesis got into Beta, but how about the DTS surround mmmm.....maybe Pro Logic isn't such a bad idea.....
I am looking for an idler for a sony sl-t7 multi system vcr.Can anyone hlp?ThanksEric
You probably won't need to limit your search to another SL-C7ME in finding a spare idler. Just about any Sony large chassis model from the US SL-5xxx series and PAL SL-C5, C5 MKII , C6, and C7 VCRs and SL-3000 VCRs will have the same idler.
If you just need to replace the tyre you can get away with a few years more use by rubbing of the top hardened crust of the tyre with sandpaper.
Re: Bugbear.B -- Even though it can't get into your computer (or mine), it grabs [email protected] off any Yahoo (or Betamax) chat-page visited by some_other_guy's unprotected computer. It then pastes [email protected] into the "sent-from" line and any chat text following becomes the new body. Now friends of [email protected] get a virus that appears to come from [email protected] and are mad at you instead of some_other_guy.
Disguising your address does help but if some_other_guy visits the original Betamax archive there are plenty of good addresses there...
I may be paranoid but they still are out to get me.
I occasionally get e-mails, some with, some without attachments, sent "back" to me that I know I never sent out. I keep the e-mail viruses at bay with a good anti-virus program, which I also keep up to date (sometimes several times a day), but there isn't much that can be done about address "harvesting" unfortunately.... people just have to actually LOOK at headers..

_@_v - eeeee! sl-2005/tt2005 combo unit on offer...

_@_v - this is one of those VPR-9800s that sony had to buy back from zenith when they quit the beta biz...
I'm selling my SL-3000 /HVC-1000 setup. Any takers?http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3029942810
pooor 2005 and 3000amies! I like that cam, lol. The 3000amie looks very well taken care of!
Hey Jesse, I saw your other auction, the one for the oddball camcorder. I know what the deal is with the oddball sockets like RCA sockets, they are on some camcorders and you could put some items in line with the video recorder, I think there was something that went in and that went between the camera part and the recorder part, if that makes any sense, so the signal looped out of the camera, into whatever was plugged in, and then back to the recorder.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - i was wondering what was gonna be the big nostolgia item from the 1990s? the 80s has like §etamax, commodore computers, parachute pants, pop-rocks etc...
_@_v - what do you suppose people are gonna feel all nostalgic about from the 1990s?
_@_v - the grunge movement?
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - eeee! that CCD-V1-amie you're selling does actually have playback capability if you have the wired remote for it!
_@_v - i think it also had record line-in capability as well...
Personally, I'm all teary-eyed and nostalgic about when I could get on a plane without a strip search, or go to the library without the CIA wanting to know what I read.. but I digress..
I think the big nostalgia craze for the 90's will be.... (at least by the end of this decade).... Remember when your television used to pick up channels??
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - sony offered A/V line ins (and in the case of the CCD-V8mu an outboard plug-in tuner module) for many of their earlier 8-amie units in case you wanted to record off-air stuff with your 8-amie....
_@_v - they hadn't figured out where the 8-mm format might be going and they weren't alone. Kodak's Kodavison 8-amie had a base station that you could plop the camera into and use like a home v.c.r. ....
_@_v - from ray glasser's page....

_@_v - remember those big clunky black "videotape" doohickeys you hadda put in those "'v.c.r." thingies?
Jesse:
Those funny little quasi-RCA jacks are Sony's way of making it to where you have to buy their adaptors. I have a few Sony 8m-mies that use them. The little modulator for output plugs into one set, or alternately a viewfinder. The inputs have an adaptor that plugs in to use standard RCA connectors. I don't remember if I have one of those or not.
Yeah,... but it's pretty bad when even VHS ELP/SLP/EP mode looks better than the newfangled digital television they're trying to foist on us. HDTV is almost a joke, since no TV station is going to use all that bandwidth for just one channel when they can put 5 crappy channels in the same bandwidth and make you like it.. I'm extremely disappointed with digital satellite TV, with all it's pixelization and nasty looking motion artifacts. When it's finally gone by the end of the decade, I'm really going to miss analog television, which, to my eye, looks better than bargain-basement digital any day.. :(
Hey... what was that 'VHS' format all about? I see a lot of their tapes floating around but I've never seen one of the players...
Think they make an adapter to play them in my Beta VCR?
How about this... I've got digital cable... The picture is nice, the audio is good, there are hundreds of channels, but what you cannot do it tune quickly. It takes a good few seconds to sync to each channel, and then you can move to the next... The system also has gobs of bandwidth... we get the telephone, cable TV for several sets, and internet access through one little wire...
About that KV-27V1
http://members.aol.com/frannywentzel/frannyladen/KV-27V1.jpg
I checked the latest conversion rate for the Yen and the price in USD works out to $4,646.82
http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/m3?a=548000&s=JPY&t=USD
Still a bit on the much side. With only the picture to go on I'm wondering if it was at least a linear stereo model for that much money...
EEEEEEE Brenda I SO agree with you about the crappy digital satellite TV!! I agree with the VHS EP comparison. I cannot STAND the MPEGgy motion artifacts that it has! I also hate HDTV and DVD because it looks that way (sometimes). Sean, I also have the same exact problem (we have Slime Warner digicable w/chan 2-66, 77-78, 98-99) of slow tuning, but it only happens with the beta decks and their old tuners. The Spagnavox does it too! Why do some TVs switch almost instantly and the others take their time about it! Also, I don't think I'll feel nostalgic about ANYTHING from the 90s (ok, ok, maybe old Macs :D)...
eeeee! lol my "second family"! http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/cbsbuzz/AMC30THCAST.jpg

I sent you my address, I am waiting for a shipping quote. That's all.
The source of this funds is as follows: During thelast military regime here in Nigeria, this committeeawarded a contract of US$400,000,000.00 (Four HundredMillion United States Dollars) to five constructionfirms on behalf of the Petroleum Ministry for thesupply, construction and installation of Oil Pipelinefrom Warri to PortHarcourt. During this process mycolleagues and I decided amongst ourselves todeliberately over-inflate the total contract sum toUS$431,500,000.00 (Four Hundred and Thirty One MillionFive Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) with themain intention of sharing the remaining sum ofUS$31,500,000.00 (Thirty One Million Five HundredThousand United States Dollars) amongst ourselves. TheFederal Government of Nigeria has since approved thesum of US$431,500,000.00 (Four Hundred and Thirty OneMillion, Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars)for us as the contract sum, and the sum ofUS$400,000,000.00 (Four Hundred Million United StatesDollars) has also been paid to the foreign contractorsconcerned as contract entitlements for the contractdone, but since each of the companies is entitled toUS$80,000,000.00 only, we are now left withUS$31,500,000.00 balance in the account which weintend to transfer abroad into a safe and reliableaccount to be disbursed amongst ourselves, but byvirtue of our positions as civil servants and membersof this panel, we cannot do this by ourselves, as weare prohibited by the Code of Conduct Bureau´ (CivilService Laws) from opening / operating foreignaccounts in our names, making it impossible for us toacquire the money in our names. I have, therefore, been mandated as a matter of trust by my colleagues inthe panel to look for an overseas partner into whoseaccount we would transfer the sum of US$31,500,000.00(Thirty One Million Five Hundred Thousand UnitedStates Dollars), hence we are writing you this letter.
My colleagues and I have agreed that if your companycan act as the beneficiary of this funds on ourbehalf, you or your company will retain 30 % of thetotal amount of US$31,500,000.00 (Thirty One MillionFive Hundred Thousand United States Dollars), while60% will be for us (members of this panel) and theremaining 10% will be used in offsetting alldebts/expenses incurred (both local and foreign) inthe cause of this transfer. Needless to say, the trustreposed on you at this juncture is enormous. In returnwe demand your complete honesty and trust. You musthowever, NOTE that this transaction will be strictlybased on the following terms and conditions as we havestated below, as we have heard confirmed cases ofbusiness associates running away with funds kept intheir custody when it finally arrive their accounts. Avery good and recent example is the one of Mr. PatrickCetera, the President of Mileage Trading andInvestment Company at Number 121, West 55th Street,21st Floor, New York 10022, and former Chairman ofOMPADEC (Mr. Olympus), who we were reliablyinformed that after the agreement between bothpartners in which he was to take 15% of the money, while the remaining 85% for Nigerian Officials. Withall the required documents signed, the money was dulytransferred into his account, only to be disappointedon their arrival in New York and were informed thatMr. Peter Hopwood was no longer on that address, whilehis telephone and fax numbers have been re-allocatedto somebody else. This was how they lost US$18.5Million to Mr. Hopock. This is a very recent storyhere in my country and everybody is aware of this, some of the officials decided to cry out and face thelaw, because they felt they had lost too much to astranger, while the Chairman of OMPADEC is hiding in a foreign country. So right now we are taking all precautionary measures to guard againstre-occurrence of such act in our case. This is why wehave decided that this transaction will be basedcompletely on the following:
(a). Our conviction of your transparent honesty anddiligence.
(b). That you would treat this transaction withutmost secrecy and confidentiality.
(c). That upon receipt of the funds, you willpromptly release our share (60%) on demand after youhave removed your 30 % and all expenses have beensettled.
(d). You must be ready to produce us with enoughinformation about yourself to put our minds at rest.
Please, note that this transaction is 100% legal andrisk free and we hope to conclude the business inSeven Bank working days from the date of receipt ofthe necessary information and requirement from you.
Please, acknowledge the receipt of this letter usingmy email address. I will bring you into the completepicture of the transaction when I have heard from you.
Your urgent response will be highly appreciated as weare already behind schedule for this financialquarter.

Hey brenda, does that mean you sold the '1000???
:( :( :( and my 300 was so looking forward to meeting it! :(
LOL, anyways, I'm sure more than one of us has done what I did today; I was watching All My Children and went to the kitchen, but got distracted and left the 300 playing it; when I came back to watch it the next commercial break came I watched like 1/2way through it before remembering that it was taped and that I could FF through it! I mean, I swear I couldn't tell the difference, LOL!!
Yeah, I've done that, WITH THE REMOTE IN MY HANDS! Espsecially BIs and Umatic will do that to you... I've got a laserdisc of News, and it has commercials in it! It's a real weird item, it was sponsored by an umbrella company, and all the ads are for their products.
That meanie Sony made everything for Including a aluminum stick Made in Sony heuheuehuehueehe erhm
LOL, bobby using one of "my" words, LOL! Eeepies... Our ILLwill (lowercase ill looks too much like "lll") has expanded its electronics section... More broken Laserjets and dot matrix printers with ribbons partway ripped out of them... :( I hate seeing that! Esp when they break the scanner glass on purpose and leave shards of it everywhere. I saw that poor pathetique Spamyo that got puked in again... I suppose no one is going to buy it.. They should put it out of its misery. Saw a LDP-1000 Sony LD player (HUGE!!) without its remote.. fleggies...
I got a shoulder trap also Made in Sony..........I just wonder someday Sony made my underwear maybe Bra too.....hihihihihi......
To Sean Meskill.
You get to know me better, dont worry I'll manage myself.
I have made a contact to the Fed Ex Officer at my local 'State'.I said that I want to send an item to USA weigth about 1 KG priced around 71.9 USD.You dont need to send me any fund......you know why........
my Favorites categorized as DANGEROUS GOODS............LOL.....
Yes, well I won't send any funds because it's obvious that the price is rediculous. No worries. I can find TVs like that, and you can keep that one for a local sale, I guess....
I'm looking for a program that will crack codes to get to all paysites for free. I hear that there is a program that will use keys and automatically once activated crack codes by using usernames and passwords. Just looking for the program.
thanks,
poor u-mie.. Looks like UPS got a hold of it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3029748308&category=21168
No I change my mind I dont sell it. It's yours come and get it happily.
Bobby,
Why not post it instead of FedEx?? FedEx are ridiculously expensive (I was going to send something to Greece by FedEx... cost would have been over $500, by US Post Office only $125.. )
Hello all, in need of of a bit of help: My Sanyo beta machine, model VCR-7250, went on the fritz two days ago. It simply will not play tapes anymore. Happens like this: Pop in a tape, press play, it makes a "whirrr" sound then enjects the tape back out. It will still fast forward or rewind, just won't play. This is the first trouble I've had with this old boy in the 12+ years I've owned it. So what could be the trouble? I have a huge collection of movies on beta.
I'm guessing that the tape isn't lacing up so probably the loading gear belt has gone bad. Easy fix if you have a source for VCR belts...
http://www.iglou.com/studiosound/index.htm#video
like these people...
I'm not in US.....too many risk if posting by ordinary delivery. I cant risk a good item.
You can have it also for free if come to my place.......heuheuheueu
Even you pay twice of the common price the FedEx wont allow TV to be sent overseas.
Electronics contains Tube specified as 'Explosives/Flamables'
I havent check others and I dont really trust other than the FEDex.
I heard that common Air-Ground Parcel services lost someone Ham Radio and cannot do anything than apologize.
what kind of telly is it? Is it a vintage one? eee... I want oneadose old BW ones!! Has anyone seen "Pleasantville?" Eee hee hee, or one of those with the rounded screen, instead of the [ _@_** ] kind it is ( _@_** ) with a straight horizontal line at the top.
What kind of picture do you think it would produce if you hooked up a DVD player to it?
eeeee! one like this one!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2178768526&category=3638 hahaha!! It'll crush the 300!
Everything works out but in B&W
Ya I know but will it be sharp, or blurry like I see in the pics on ebay? Is it possible to make a B/W screen really sharp? Or is it naturally a bit blurry due to the phosphor arrangement?
Good B&W screens are sharper and have better contrast than color screens. You should see the old Capehart set I've got... unfortunately it's in New Jersey and needs repair.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3613329536&category=846 this is a bad picture, it's the upper one...
EEEEEEE! Is it that one where the lady is sitting watching? THAT'S the kind I want!!!!!
Yep, that's it. It's been in the family for a while and I can't make the decision to sell it. Sorry.
No I didnt want to buy it lol,, I just saying thats the one I want. Dubbing Sum Of All Fears to beta right now..
The different between common B&W TV and watchman;
B&W TV you see in front of the Tube.
Watchman you see the pic from inside the Tube.
(cant imagine you watch TV inside the 2" size tube......heuheuehue)
None of the small LCD TV can beat the sharpness of Watchman.
I think Watchman sharpness is comparable to a High Res VGA monitor, if I may say so myself.
Bobby, what do you mean by seeing the picture from inside the tube? Whatever CRT I watched, the picture always appeared on the front of the tube.
The old B/W Watchman TV's used a very strange CRT. The "front" of the CRT is clear glass, and the picture you see is actually the back of the phosphors which are painted on the back inside of the tube. The deflection angles are really radical as well.. I would hate to have had to develop the yoke in one of them.
Some older television sets that used an electrostatic defection tube, I think, the coating did not go all the way to the phosfor on the tube, so if you took the case off you could look at the back of the image!
readvertised sony slhf950 pal super beta, requires psu unit, complete with remote, trade for svhs system, high end analogue cassette deck, hifi seperates, large tv.sorry to all who replied before my mailbox was full with spam.please state model No's.uk only.thanks
Jesse:
Drop me an e-mail before you relist your 3000 -amie..
Alright... I'll take it in the shorts on these, but if someone wants to buy my Sony and NEC ßetamovies, each has a good NP-11, and an NP-11 in need of repacking, I'll let them go for $35 each plus shipping. No cases, just cameras and batteries. Both in good working order. The e-mail is good. Drop me a line. It's just not worth the effort to put these on fleabay and pay them listing and final price fees, and then pay PayPal fees on top of that.
Well I just spent the evening in the basement with a jeweler's screwdriver, a test tape, and a monitor, and I got three working VCRs out of it. My SL-HF-600 is now back in action, as is one of VCRGary's SLO-1400s (Which got knocked around a bit in shipping, needed some belts and pulley's cleaned, and some tweaking) which turned out to be very good with solid heads and lovely picture performance. My SLO-323 just needed the re-spooling (For eject) mech. cleaned. I can cycle some of my lesser VCRs to other places and put my better ones to work for me... Next on the list of repairs is the SL-340 (Loading trouble) and the Sears 562.53442350 "Proformance" which can play back but won't wind, rewind, or do Betascan. Lower on my priority list are an SLO-260 that can't seem to eject the carriage and an SL-2000 with an odd hall-effect motor issue...
Oh, and also for Jesse, let me know before you relist that handicam thingy...
Good going Sean. :)
I wish that Andy would have sold me that SLO-1800 he was going to sell me... but it's like he's dropped off the edge of the earth.. :(
Well, our Spurs just won the worlde championship... Got the trusty 300 taping all the WOAI coverage but I'm getting a lot of crosstalk from those cheap $1 store cables... :(
A store near me called something like "Preferred distributoros" had 5' gold-plated A/V stereo cables with the video going on Coax for about $3. I couldn't believe it. I have to go get more!!! Yeah, Andy does seem to fall down the rabbit hole now and again... I even had some bussiness for him. Just as well, the local tech needs business too.
Also TV stores tend to sell them for less than Radio Shack...
I'D SELL AV SWITCHER BRANDED SONY 6 CHANNEL IN/OUT AND ONE SCART CONNECTOR,VERY RARE AND VERY NEW.COMES WITH REMOTE AND USER MANUALS ALSO ORIGINAL BOX.PRICED 2000 US$ EXCLUDED SHIPPING;NEGOTIABLE.SUITABLE FOR PROFESSIONALS OR BROADCAST.

_@_v - a sanyo vcr-8700gm - looks like a sony sl-300 with a rejiggered faade.
_@_v - i guess towards the end sony was making §etas for sanyo just to keep the illusion that there were a couple companies selling §etas...
_@_v - musta hurt when aiwa - a sony subsidiary opted out of §eta. i'm surprised sony didn't try and make them sell §eta....

Ugh! Tried to change DSL packages. The amateurs deleted my account and then couldn't re-activate it. Been running 33.6k dial-up all weekend (something from the 90's I will never miss - even worse than VHS).
yea... die-alup is a pain; hope I never have to go back to it. Once you use rocketsnail there's no going back! lol!

_@_v - musta been a temporary glitch cuz it was acting funny...
Hi I have a couple of beta machines from my Dad's estate and don't know much about them I am going to try and sell them but have no idea what they are worth any help would be great. I have a Sony Betamax portable sl2001 and a sony betamax slp303.ThanksLisa
Nopers, Brenda... you do seem to get the fuzzy end of the Ebay stick a lot, don't you? Kinda sad.
erh......no one seems to know about Switcher.
LISA that can be worth 1000 Bucks if you got boxes,Remotes and user manuals.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - of the two units, the sl-2001 is the most saleable. if it includes the tuner and (especially) a camera it should go anywhere from $20 to $80 or more.
_@_v - the slp-303 probably won't fetch all that much as it's a §-1 speed player-only model. not a lot of people have §-1 speed tapes to feed that model as virtually all consumer §etas recorded in the §-2 or §-3 speed and it can't play tapes recorded in any of the other speeds.
_@_v - however somebody with an industrial §eta recorder might find that a useful item to add to their system.
Anybody got a Sony NP-22 (or equivelent) battery they'd want to part with?? The one for my Kalimar Vidoe Light ain't holding a charge for more than 7 to 10 minutes. I unnerstand some Sony and some Sanyo camcorders used them. Or if no one has one to spare where besides Rat Shack or Batteries Plus+ could I find one?? IIRC Rat Shack wants $ 30 or $40 for one. They're 6Volt 1600mah bats.
Later. Pepse.
Pepse:
Check out this ebay auction... just what you need.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2935660171&category=43447
I am a lucky man... my CCD-V110 came with a huge 12VDC battery pack that goes on your belt and will run the camera for ever, nearly. Takes 12 hours to charge but it's well worth it. Yessir, it is.... I have an NP-22 you can play with if you like, Pepse; I'm not sure what it's problem is, but it will appear to take a charge and then not actually put out...
Brenda, thanx for the link for the NP-22; funny tho I did a search on Ebay and only came up with one that was 7.2v and IIRC NOT a NiCad.
Sean, if you still have my addy send it and I'll reimburse you fer shipping.
Later. Pepse.
