William,
A bit of an after thought on the HF750 problem. Have you checked that the load ring is not cracked?
Hi Ron,
Good to hear from you. I drove through Beaufort (near Ballarat) yesterday and stopped at a converted garage called strangely enough "The Garage Sale". He didn't have any beta machines but he did have lots of mint beta tapes and lots of eight track prerecorded tapes, other tapes and an eight track recorder/stereo Hifi machine.
Funny what you can find. He had lots of older stuff such a L/P record players and paper rolls for pedal powered pianos as well.
Expected to hear from you about the SLC40AS by now. Good to hear the SLO1700 is working well. I still haven't built a new power supply for my other unit.
cheers - Noel
Yes, Noel is interesting that there are still some 'no throw away" people around. As you know I still use and enjoy Betamax .. incidently the SLO 1700 is going like a treat!! ..and I recently lent my 16mm H-16 Bolex to my youngest son's best friend so he could experience using what is almost a camera equivilent of a Swiss watch. He had a lot of fun and the camera performed well. He returned it with a copy of Australian Cinematographer which had a feature article on the H-16 and noted that a recent e-Bay posting for a sale opened at A$3800 !! . I decided to clean it up and offer it for sale. However, my second son who is a LD at channel nine said he wanted to keep it and when my youngest son's mate also heard about my selling it said ..don't - please keep it! So a couple of young guys are thinking the right way !!!wWill e-mail you with news..Best from Ron
William,
Regarding your SL-HF750. I have just read your post and though I am not familiar with them I assume they are similar to the PAL SL-HF950. I did not follow your comments about the AFT because that has nothing to do with channel up/down selection on a 950 at least.
Regarding loading problems, I have had problems with the capstan relay which have two coils, one which is fused internally. The pull winding requires more current to pull in the capstan roller, then the hold winding takes over. (which has the fuse in line) I have also had units which have power supply problems affecting this function. I think power supply problems actually take out the fuse. If the fuse were blown then it would not function for even one in eleven times!
It sounds to me that either the machine is not getting the capstan roller into lock position properley OR it is not sensing that it has done so.
1/ I suggest you confirm that the power supply is not dropping voltage under load. It seems to me that you may have power supply problems.
2/ Check that the limit micro switches are not intermittant or mal adjusted. Sometimes the switch can activate then move back to the non-operated state. General wear of the actuator might mean that they are not being held on. I thing the main one to check is the load ring end sense switch.
3/ Control circuit problems. Dry joints and breaks can create such "intermittant" effects. I have had this happen on the SLC9 SS-11 control boards and with cracked tuner circuit boards on the Sony VHS 777 edit machines. (due to people, including myself, stacking to much equipment on top of them.)
Good luck William and get back to me if you have any further questions. Having that service manual means that there is always hope.
To others - Some comment on the rights and wrongs of how to pursue the beta hobby.
It is better just to accept that people are different and while they share an interest in the same hobby, they can do it just about however they like. I only have problems with people who actually lie or mis-represent a machine's condition. I think the buyer/seller issues look after themselves. Olive and others can say what they think a machine is worth and to advise others on this page, but is up to the buyer what they want to pay. I personally don't like the old top loader, push button machines, but to an older person who has poor sight and is used to such a machine they are worth more that the newer style with the more complicated controls and harder to view displays. They may only want to continue to watch old tapes. The older working machine is of more value to them. (The way they are built they take more effort to fix that is for sure) They do produce a good picture when they are working properly.
It is good to see that we are all interested enough in Beta, in todays "throw away world" to be even be discussing Beta and how to repair or aquire these machines.
regards Noel.

Hello everyone. I need some help. I have a Sony SLF-30UB beta vcr that has got a faulty head motor. I can't seem to obtain one anywhere in the UK. Does anyone have either a complete head assembly or just the motor for sale? I also need a capstan motor for a my old Sanyo VTC5400P, and I need a head alignment tape for betamax, so the repair man can do the Sanyo properly. So if anyone can please help me I would be very, very gratfull.
Thanks for reading.Regards.Richard Sleeman.
Hello everybody.I am looking for either a head motor or complete head assembly for a Sony Betamax SLF-30UB, the vcr went in for repair a few months back and the chap said that the field in/on the motor had gone, and the motor is now a discontinued part. The head goes to spin, but it looks like it is getting caught in some kind of magnetic field (wobbles)then the machine switches itself off. If anyone in the UK has this part for sale please get in touch. I am also looking for a capstan motor for my poor old Sanyo VTC5400P and a head alignment tape for the betamax.
Thanks for reading.Richard Sleeman.

You pick shipping cost as you wish as per lable cost. Or come and get them free of shipping cost. Then just $50.00 cash!
JSP - I have been in contact with Noel a few times after he sold me the T9-ME. There were some issues with it and it was not an 'as is' sale and therefore fixed it the the two occasions that it went down. The machine is down again so I will need to get in contact with him in a few weeks when I am not so busy. In the meantime, I can enjoy the luck of the other purchase, and keep my eye out for any other Betas that may pop out of nowhere (especially a multi standard!)
Moonbod...it is easy...just connect the Video Out and Audio Out RCA jacks on the back of the Betamax to the Video In and Audio IN RCA jacks of the VHS VCR (or DVD Recorder). Hit RECORD on the VHS machine (to get enough of a leader on the VHS tape), then simply hit PLAY on the Betamax and your off and running.

Gonna be in Lawrence Kansas anytime soon?

"He's attacked other monsters and terrorized Japan for decades. Now Godzilla is confronting academics who want to wrestle with his legacy. The University of Kansas plans to pay homage to the giant lizard later this month, organizing a three-day scholarly conference for the 50th anniversary of his first film. It's not just about celebrating campy creature features. Planners want to provoke discussion of globalization, Japanese pop culture and Japanese-American relations after World War II."
The conference that begins Oct. 28 will offer speeches, panel discussions and free screenings of Godzilla films, including Gojira,'' the Japanese movie that started Godzilla's career in November 1954.
does anyone know how to transfer a betamax film onto a vhs or dvd?
chickasmith, I was lucky enough to have Noel over for lunch and dinner today and impress him with some of my gear, he's a great bloke who has helped me out over the past 5 or 6 years more than he knows, but he dropped in conversation he has a pair of multisystem units, as he knows I am looking for one, but I am after an sl-800me, and he doesnt have one of those. I currently have a sl-t7me, which with Noels help over about a 3 year period I have rebuilt the power supply, but alas it needs new heads and in general has little faults making it not worth fixing up. I keep it for sentimental value, have had it for 24 years.
So put the hard word on him and he might be able to fix you up with a front load unit, I know he doesnt see them often at all and may not wish to part with them but you never know, and he accept's tradeins.

Nice shilling for Mister Betamax there. How much are you getting from him? And it's nice to see you complain about the discourse of this site in a way that takes it even deeper into the gutter. No law requires you to be here and no-one gave you the title of Imperator Maximus so there's no point in your dispensing orders like they were sermons from Mount Olive. (sorry Olive, I couldn't resist).
Your kind is as tiresome a presence on the internet as Nigerians and penis pill peddlers. I sentence you to fully peruse http://www.lileks.com and don't come back till you've osmosed enough of his witty writing style to use 'craptacular' in a sentence with a straight face.
It's funny you should rant about snails given that the only snaily presence left in these posts is my innocuos little bug-eyed gastropod. I suppose we're all gonna hafta post those ASCII snails just to cheese you off now...
_@_oo~ - spblblblblblt!
At any rate I'm not all that impressed with his site, his prices or his 'expertise'. Total Rewind does a better job with navigation - although I wish they'd designed the site for 800x600 computer screens - and presentation as do PALsite and The Ultimate Betamax Info Guide. Even my piss-poor attempt at a Beta page packs more info-tainment value - and if you're on a Mac doesn't even assault you with banner ads or nuthin! You don't even have to take a stupid tracking cookie for the high privilege of looking at a bunch of murkily photographed 20 year old electronic fossils.
Mister Betamax has about one of the most impersonal Beta pages out there - and given he's presumed to give himself the title of "Mister Betamax" one could've hoped for something better than a pack of cliparty-looking .gif images of Beta product devoid of contextual surroundings. At least the guy on eBay with the $ 200 SL-2400s has the decency to pop the top so you can make a cursory inspection of the rich beta-ey goodness inside. Who uses .gif images for anything other than cheesy animation loops anymore anyway?
Even the short bus riders have figured out how to use jpegs nowadays...
ThinkMink...Something tells me your last post had a touch of sarcasm (lol). Firstly, I agree with you that "Mr. Betamax" has a very nice, very informative website. Clearly, he knows more about Beta than just about anyone else out there in cyberland. The ONLY issue I was raising about his site is his prices, which one could easily argue are inflated. However, I would MUCH rather deal with "Mr. Betamax" than with Absolute Beta, which is simply a rip-off. Secondly, it's not Ray Glasser's fault that "Mr. Betamax" has a great site, and Ray is not obliged to do anything about his site...it is what it is, and many people have found it helpful. That's the great thing about the WWW, we can all share the information. Finally, I fully agree with your comment regarding the format of this site. The serial posting format is awkward, not user-friendly, and not conducive to the more helpful threading that could easily be done. The question is, what do YOU think are the best sites for Beta enthusiasts?
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.c¿m
"Mr Betamax" has an impressive looking website but only if you allow him to install tracking software onto your hard drive. Looking at the prices he's asking for VCRs that go for under $50 bux on eBay - like an SL-2000/TT-2000 outfit that he wants a total of $1100 bux for - you can see why he'd have to slap together an impressive looking website to fool the rubes - i mean his customers.
It seems to be working as I've seen auctions quoting his prices and info like they're sermons from the mount. Usually those items get relisted again and again as noone wants to pay $500 bux for an SL-3000 with no power supply that "needs a lube and adjustment and maybe a head cleaning"....
GhostDancer...there are several reasons that the machine would stop in the middle of the tape. Of course, the first thing to do is make sure it is the machine and not the tape, which I assume you have done. Machine causes include tape misalignment, problems with the tape sensor, abnormal tape tension, and mechanical problems with the reel table. If the Betascan (forward and backward) work properly, the sensors and reel table are probably OK. In any case, it sounds like it could use a tune-up and alignment.
I have a sl-hf300 it sometimes stops in the middle of a tape any known causes for this
Thanks for that information JSP.
The beta looks to be in very good condition and it also came with the remote control which works. I thought I picked up a good deal as i have been looking on Ebay for the past 6 months or so just to see prices and to see if I can pick up a multi standard beta (unlikely) as I have some NTSC tapes that I would like to play. Noel from within these chatpages has provided me with a T9 ME about six months ago but I would like to 'upgrade' to a more modern looking multi standard. I guess if it was found, I would need to shell out a reasonable amount of money for it ...
I'll keep looking and thanks for the information ...
chickasmith, if the unit is in good nick then yes you got a fairly good buy!
the average going rate for a good condition HF100 / HF150 / HF77 is around the $250 - $400 mark, with sometimes getting as high as $400 on ebay in rare cases.
Price I believe is simply going up because good working units are getting quite rare in Australia, and heads soon wont be avaialable for the HF150, so it means no new hifi heads for any PAL machine.
I have seen quite a few sony HiFi's sold for around the $300-$375 mark, but thats in good condition, with remote and a 3 month warranty.
I'm sure it's unintentional, but this Betamax web site makes both the betainfoguide and absolutebeta sites look like pure bush league: http://www.mrbetamax.com .

Would anyone here be interested in a semi-functioning Toshiba V-X340? It's the rare B5 chassis which only Toshiba released in the US. During playback, there is intermitten static bars all around, and it only plays back in B&W. It can't seems to record any legible picture, either. Fair cosmetic condition. If so, I'll provide a link for a possible auction.

Why not try to find something with PLL + IR Liniear.
Noel you seem to have some in-depth knowledge of the Beta machines.
I own an SL-HF750 SuperBeta Hi-Fi VCR. Intermittently, I have had difficulty loading a tape or having a tape eject occur when not desired. As the tape is thread by the shuttle block assembly to the FE head (next to the L motor assembly), the Function Cam (S) is supposed to rotate under the Rotary Encoder Switch and lock in position by action of the Lock Arm Assembly. On my troubled deck, the Lock Arm Assembly repeatedly tries to lock in position and the Function Cam (S) rotates but stops after about eight trys and ejects the tape. When the L motor is rotating the Arm Assy Pinch Roller presses repeatedly against the Capstan pinion. Sometimes the deck works fine and then after a few stops and starts it acts up again. It is also possible for me to get it into a condition where it will not unload the tape. Again the L motor just rotates and does not stop. I have two SL-HF750's and am able to view normal operation on a good deck. I also have a service manual. I checked the encoder signals and they seem to be working. The tape end sense signals are not needed to load a tape because I know that on the good deck I can fool it into loading without a tape by pressing the cassette sense switches. Another problem I have is that the channel up/down controls don't work on the deck or with the remote. The direct channel entry from the remote does work. I am trying to decipher what the decoded signal names are for this funtion in the schematic. I think that they are AFT-UP and AFT-DOWN from the tuner system control IC that feed to the DEFEAT UP/DOWN section in the tuner circuit. It confuses me because I know that AFT means automatic fine tuning but there are no other up/down identified signals in the schematic. Do you you have any troubeshooting ideas for me?
Just an interesting tidbit...last night at the UWGB "debate watch" (students watch the Bush-Kerry debate on a giant projection screen, then discuss it), there were some crews from a local TV station there...and they were shooting with Sony Betacam SP cameras. First time I've ever seen one in use.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.c¿m
What's good about a HiFi VCR is you get better (near CD quality) sound from it than you can get from a monaural VCR. Though I don't really know the Australian Beta market I'd say you got your Beta SL-HF 150AS for a reasonably good price - not a 'steal' but nowhere near being taken to the cleaners.
Hi all from Australia.
I was just reading the information posted earlier about that S600 and how someone has (stupidly?) paid $US360 for this vcr and its not hi-fi.
What is so good about a hi-fi beta (please inform me in unintelligent form!)?
I was lucky to 'pick up' ($AU100 = $US72 = GBP40) an sl-hf-150AS (hi-fi)over the weekend from a person who had just stored the Beta for ages and it was really just going to stay there until it would be part of their estate. Did i 'pinch' a 'steal'?

Am I to understand Cheryl that the Beta VCR you have isn't running? If it is working you have all that you need to transfer to VHS - well you need standard A/V cables and a VHS VCR.
If it's not working it might be fixable especially if it's a Sanyo and all it need are new belts.
I have an old betamax recorder and player. I bought it in 1984. I have elderly parents and a daughter who does not remember the tapes (most home videos). I am a single mom and cannot afford the process of converting my betas to either vhs or dvd. Are there still machines that work (I don't trust ebay) or is there a machine I can buy to transfer my tapes myself? thank you
I remember giving one of those SL-S600s away to a friend. It's about on a par with my mom's old Shintom VHS VCR only with not as good a tuner.
And Orson Welles is a 'genius' of the cinema, Tom Cruise is a disposable pretty boy.
A couple years back some guy bought one of these for the ridiculous $600 BIN. He humbly re-listed it months later, candidly explaining he didn't realize it was not a Hi-Fi machine.
If the 2710 is the best Betamax deal for the money on eBay, the S600 is close to the worst:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39830&item=5724040872&rd=1
Though it may be a tossup with the 2300's people inexplicably buy for at times over $ 200.
Can anybody give me a couple of reasons as to why Tom Cruise could be described as a 'genius'in cinema terms for my school project? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
Homer,
Sounds like the tape did not load correctly the first time and was substantially off path for the ACE assembly. (audio/tracking/erase heads) Maybe something was stuck first time around. If this happened, The tape would be creased near the edge also. The sound is allong one edge and tracking pulses along the other with picture info placed diagonaly by the video heads. If the tape is off centre the sound might pick up less magnetic info from its track coupled with the picture info. On the other side the tracking pulses dropping out would stop picture sync and eventually counter info if it uses a real time counter locked into those pulses.
You machine might need a light mechanical clean and lube service. A worn/dirty capstan roller can contribute to such a problem. Check its condition also.
regards Noel
P.S. About the SLF30 in the other post that is unable to be fixed, is that down to a drum motor only fault. I can supply a second hand unit for a reasonable price if no-one else can help you. It is just that Australia is a long way to post from.
Possible issue with SL-HF1000 ???
This afternoon I turned on my vcr after a couple months of inactivity. It was connected to mains but I didn't use it in quite a long period. Upon trying to play back a tape, I would get only the sound muffled by a strong hum and no video. After about ten seconds the tape counter would stop counting as well.
So I disconnected the thing to bring it to the test bench where everything went back to normal. I let the deck play for about an hour and it worked ok. So I brought it back to the living room, reconnected it to my setup and everything still seemed fine.
I am perplexed as to what happened and somehow afraid because I really don't want this machine to go down. Any ideas about what might have happened ?
West Yorkshire, UK. Hello all - looking for a reasonably priced Sony PAL Betamax. My Sony F30 now declared as being beyond repair. I need a working player to play my 80's home movies shot on Beta, to finish transferring them to digital before it's to late. I have a few feelers out, and am hoping to pick one up sooner or later. Can't hope for an F1, or a HF950 I suppose, but it would be nice. Anyone?
I meant bucks,
Sorry
Think I'll let go the faulty SL-K95 for a couple box.

Hi there i have a BetaMax recorder model Sony SLHF950 (PAL) for sale. I am based in Portugal but will send Worldwide. Anyone that is interrested make me an offer !
Regards
Ron,
About the lines on the picture. There is a problem that can occur with a circuit the back of the main tuner board. Top board right hand side when the lid is off. I checked the circuit and i think this is the problem component.
Check resistor R302 is still 6.2 kilohm. If not replace it. What happens is this resistor can go open circuit and allow the oscillator circuit driven by the nicad backup battery to operate when the machine is on, which it shouldn't do. This DC/DC convertor creates the interference.
Sadly I cannot source those gears either. I currently repair them if they are not totally cracked in half. If we (on PALSITE) could find someone to make about a hundred, I am sure that there would be many takers. I would want 10 pairs myself.
Andy, do you have a source for those gears in the NTSC equivalent?
regards Noel.
The SL-2500 is the NTSC version of the SL-C9.
just a quick P.S. to previous chat message does anyone know if the SL 2500 is theequivelent NTSC m/c to the SL-C9AS m/c out here in australia?thanks ron
g/day Noel Higgins - interesting chat/info on sl-c9 's has got me wondering if you or anybody knows of availability of the small nylon gears or the modified metal gearsthat go on the end of the small shaft at the front/top of the load mechanism [the ones that are prone to breaking] needles to say I have one good one & onethat is broken - also seem to have a problem with recieving TV stations m/c [machine]actually picks up the sound ok but the picture has lots of horizontal lines spoilingthe reception - when I get a tape into the m/c [which isn't easy with the above fault]all the other functions of the m/c seem to be working fine - any info/ideas would bemost appreciated - Ron
A lot of Beta NTSC machines I meant. We don't have many beta machines on ebay.com.au.
Boby,
I spoke too soon about fixing the SLC9 capstan problem. It is intermittent. Maybe heat related. Dont know if its a mechanical problem (friction load) or a component change problem from aging electrolytics. Might have to try some instant freeze and see if i can locate the culprit.
Well Olive, the search above was interesting. You seem to get a lot of NTSC machines for sale on Ebay.

The cheapest went for $26 bux, the most expensive went for $150 bux. Of 21 listed only 17 were sold with the average price at $94.
I have a beta vcr sl-hf300 that I would like to sell. Can anyone tell me what it might be worth? Thank you for your time. It is in good condition. Still attached to our TV and all in good working order
To Boby,
Thanks for the vote of confidence on fixing the Sony SLC9ES but there are many things that could lead to such a problem.
For Bernt. Start with a service manual.
First, check out the supply voltages from the power supply. If they are not right then yor chasing a ghost.
Next check the load microswitches and associated cables. You can see some gathered by a spring to keep the them out of the way of the cassette while its loading. Make sure the metal arm at the base of the load mechanism is linked to its associated rod in the machine base.
There are two micro switches which sense that the tape is in place and both must be closed for the control circuit to comence its sequence.
Looking at the front of the machine check the gearing arrangement of the load mechanism towrad the centre of the front panel inside seems OK. There is a slotted arm that has a pin which moves along it and this also relates to a microswitch to sense when the tape is in. The load ring microswitch toward the back of the machine can also play up confusing the control mechanism so it locks up.
Good luck, it could be any of those problems.
Actually Boby, I just spent two hours today fixing three problems on an SLC9. Tape path and tracking, load rear alignment and capstan free speed settings to overcome an intermittent out of lock problem.
cheers - Noel.

Finally got my new Betamax page up! No longer is it bound by the constraints of the prefabricated GeoCities photo page. Now I can include thumbnail images that you can actually see, as much text as I want, and links to other sites! Check it out! http://www.angeltowns2.com/members/sphs/insanity/betamax.html

Whoops! I meant Beta movies AREN'T worth a whole lot...
Actually if you can find them on eBay - they eliminated their specific Beta movie catagory - you can get pretty good deals on favourite movies from the mid-90s (Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible was one of the last titles released on Beta) and earlier.

To Joe. Beta movies are worth a whole lot - maybe $2 to $10 on average depending on titles. Most of the movies that were big sellers in VHS were also big sellers in the Beta market and till the mid to late 80s most video stores kept Beta and VHS titles.
Beta rental movies seem to not have survived as well. I think it's because their VHS copies got replaced every so often but rental stores hung onto the Beta ones till they stopped dealing in Beta.
Make a list of what you have and post 'em to the Betamax Videographer.

I'm specifically looking for the Star Wars or the Amityville Horror trilogies. Change the ¿'s to o's in my address.
Hello everyone. A few months ago, I asked for help on this chat page to obtain a head motor for a Sony SLF30UB beta vcr. I had quite a few replies, so I got in touch with a guy who said he would sell me a complete head assembly for said beta, however, he did not come up with the goods. If anyone in the UK has either a head motor or complete head assembly for sale I would be very interested!! Could you please let me know the price p&p etc.
Thanks.Regards.Richard Sleeman.

I have a number of prerecorded, NEW Beta tapes of "Popular" movies. What might these be worth and how can I get these sold?
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.c¿m
For $300 bux you can get either an SL-2000 or a TT-2000 at this place...

Or for the same $300 bux you can get a Coke machine...
I own a Sony SuperBeta SL-HF750 that has an intermittent problem of not fully loading a cassette tape. The tape is threading to the correct position but the arm locking assembly does not seem to lock it in position and the tape is retracted. When the tape is thread in position then Function Cam (S) does not stop and continues to rotate until the LS Assembly automatically retracts.
Has anyone else experienced thids problem? I have a service manual but it does not discuss problem troubleshooting.
In which betamax-players will this head set fit?
MODEL : PS 3B CODE NO. DSR-08R, DSR-10R, DSR-11R & RSV-3B
I know nothing about Beta, folks: What I have is a 2-tape Gone With The Wind on Beta that is in great shape. It is in its original cases, beautiful, movie art on front. I love the film, but no one around here seems to have a player, so I would just like to sell it to someone who will use and appreciate it. I am not out to make money by any means so a little something plus whatever shipping is will be fine.
I can be contacted at [email protected]. Thanks!
Lets just consider the HF900 in upstate condition (with pic of course),400$ wouldnt hurt so much. I did 700$ on similar item, feels like a flame but worth buying.

This snail expects to sell an SL-HF900 (no remote, manual, or box) for $350-$400 and doesn't even show pics! I bet he bought it for less than $150. Olive, where do these guys get the nerve?
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.c¿m
Condiser yourself lucky to get channels 37 & 38. My Sony Betas at the most can only get up to 36. The SL-2000's tuner only really gets from 2-13 on the VHF frequency which translated to up to channel 21 in cable.
Hi everybody. Haven't posted in awhile (been busy at UWGB) but thought I'd check in. I brought both my RCA VJP-900 VHS and Sanyo VCR-4030 Beta VCRs with me to campus, but the VJP-900 was somehow knocked out of whack in transport, and when I got it here, it would no longer play tapes. My trusty 4030 survived the journey just fine, and my room-mate and I are now both enjoying the superior results of BETAMAX whenever we record a show. The only drawback is that, presumably due to differences in cable TV technology now vs. 1985, its tuner only recieves channels 2-38 and 61-99. I cannot use it to tune in channels 39-60, and thus cannot tape anything off those channels.
Boby/Olive,
Surely the only thing that creates a daughter board is the fact that they are hanging off a motherboard. Don't know much about where fathers and sons get a mention.
regards Noel (A 950 in the bank I like.)
Daughterboard somewhat identical to old saying 'piggyback card'.
Hello, i am after an original service manual for a PAL SL-C9 betamax machine. If anyone has one they want to sell, let me know. Thanks
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.c¿m
VHS HiFi decks are practically being sold off of drugstore blisterpacks at 45 bucks a pop nowadays. The video world has pretty much moved to TiVo & DVD-R now...
Tell your friend to hang on to that SL-HF 950. In ten years if (s)he makes sure it's still working every six months or so to keep it limber, (s)he'll be able to put his (grand)kids through college with it.
HI,IM LOOKING FOR HELP, SOMONE IN MY FAMILY HAS A SUPER BETA-HI-FI SL-HF95O PAL VIDEO RECORDER MADE BY SONY, I SAW IT IN HIS HOUSE AND TOLD HIM IT COULD BE WORTH SOMTHING. IF ANYBODY CAN HELP WITH A PRICE THAT WOULD BE GREAT. HE IS VERY OLD AND I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO HELP BUY HIM A NEW VHS MODEL! THANKS ROSS
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.c¿m
Boby. I think it's only a daughterboard if it's attached to the motherboard by an edge-bus. A lot of Betas have a small board held under or over a larger board by some plastic legs with various connections throughout the system besides any to the board their quasi attached to.
tjtjtyj
Usually it's called daughter board.
I don't have the service manual and the T7 I have is the low man on a VCR totem pole so it'd be a lot of trouble to look for board numbers. If I recall the HiFi board was the middle board on the right side. Board has a subboard on it.
Does anyone have (or know how to make) an RM59W, the wired remote for the SL-2300?
Thanks Das-Imp...that is helpful. I don't have a Service Manual for the T7, so can you tell me what the board number is for the HiFi board? Maybe I can get someone to copy the appropriate page from the service manual....Thanks, Max
