Seems messages keep disappearing here and I dont think it is a problem with the server. wondering how many messages of interest (non squabbling ones weree rased)?

I am also willing to bet that the people who are complaining about someone else making £ or $ providing them with a product or service they desire do not go to work every day and not expect a pay cheque. If you do not want to pay for something no one is forcing you to. The profit motive is what makes things happen in this world. Sony made lots of money in the late 1970s and early 1980s by selling Betamax decks. In fact it was their biggest profit center for a number of years. Do you think they would have stopped making Betamaxs if they could still make money by selling them? In a like manner if the pople providing goods and services to a small niche market can no longer make enough to make it worth their while they will then stop doing so and you will be left with nothing.

Ed Beta you're deceiving good and honest people, what's your problem. Noel is selling repaired Betamax machine on Ebay with personal guarantee/warranty so he got 100% FB, his cutomers are happy with the purchased so what seems to be the problem ??.

That's their approval to buy or not to, there's nothing that Noel can do on that.

What's bothering you ??

I've been whatching you along, you're the one who's deleting this pages NOT Mark.

Sorry NOEL, but when you do what you did to others in the past it always comes back to haunt you.

You have a 100% on eBay, so that makes you honest..LOL What a great indicator to show if if your honest or a crook. ENOUGH SAID..

I wonder what kind of Feed back you would have if the owners of the Betamax's you sell could leave you feedback. Its not the feedback , its what you do on this site to others and how you prey on people just asking question to pick their pockets clean of money and machines.

Don't come on here and tells us about your eBay Feedback, some of the biggest crooks on ebay do exactly what you do on this palsite.

MARK, stop shouting, that website you have will do just fine. We have no control over this site and if you want to SELL your products, just email the web master.Your scamming the wrong people.

YOU guys notice that the 2 biggest crooks on here NOEL and MARK are shouting and protesting the most..

Ed - you dont like my answer - you clear the page - fine.

ED,

The concept of someone helping other people for nothing but the personal satisfaction of being able to does not register with you and that's fine but really its none of your business anyway.

I sell through eBay to people in Australia - simple as that- not ripping them off. If they have a problem then they are free to say so here or anywhere (I have 100% positive feedback) but you - your just sad little person who likes to stir up trouble by mouthing off.

Thanks to the chatpage owners for fixing the last problem.

JOHN,

Noel HAS to make money?

So your saying that the questions he answers to sucker people to his website and clean the pockets of his clients is proper.

I posted the back issue of the customer complaining that he was selling their Betamax on eBay and telling them he put the Betamax in the bin.

Taking pounds and not delivering the goods.

Let him get a JOB and not use this SITE as a picking grounds for poor slobs just asking questions and ending up with empty pockets.

This message board doesn't require any SQL databases. Chris,

There is a poster on here called NOEL.

He will talk you into sending your OLD betamax to him.

Then NOEL emails you he cant fix it, also will cost you a certain amount for looking at it and the shipping back to you.

He will also give you the option for him to bin it.

Then 2 weeks after that email from him , go to his ebay site and you will see your machine up for auction.

Bid on it and youll have a great Betamax.

Hope this helps

To KEN the last poster about his TTF1 tuner dying. The power supply fails. Repair is possible but complicated. You will need a Sony service agent who has the right service manual to work out the repair. Transistors and capacitors are generally all that is needed.

Otherwise you need to get a replacement tuner from someone. I am guessing you might need the tuner for its AV in/out connections.

Another option is if you have the separate AV out adapter lead, then you can use the F1 players battery charger as the supply instead. They are a bit more common to get than the tuners.

That's not a dumb thing but I would say intentional by sony. You don't want both connected at the same time normally. The fix is to add a DC socket to the old tuner lead so that it gives power as well. It is starting to sound like you need a scan of the tuner connector pin layout/ functions so you can tackle this project. I have a service manual. Two dead tuners! Your not going well. I have fixed one, but I did not write down what was the problem, I think it was just transistors and a couple of capacitors.

Ken,

On the Australian version of the F1 you can watch the machine on its UHF TV output. Though not ideal because the signal is being remodulated to be demodulated again, possible reducing picture quality, so you may find going RF into a DVD recorder tuner or via a TV to get the signal at its AV outputs to record on a computer does the trick. The machine is only mono anyway.

The output adapter lead is purpose built. I have only seen one and I sold it to a collector in Perth. If your not likely to get your tuner fixed you could pinch the plug/lead from the tuner adapter and use that to source the AV signal, being careful not to short any other lines out because the F1 is full of CMOS that is sensitive to "accidents".

cheers Noel

Ed,

Heres an idea, email me direct and I will help you to solve your meter problems and you can stop being FORCED to give the chatpage people grief.

The reason I have not bothered to look at this problem before is that I have enough SLHF950 machines with good displays and I am not really fussed by a few dead leads in the others. It does not stop them working.

cheers Noel

Sorry, I should have added if its not ED problem it does not exist.

They are a bit more common to get than the tuners.

cheers Noel

Noel, I appreciate your speculation on what to do

to affect a repair. It makes good sense, though as you

admit it is untried.

Rather than have me experiment and possibly do damage,

perhaps Boby can explain in simple terms (as you did) how

he actually accomplished the repair.

Unless Boby wants further altercations and hatred to flare

up on this board once again?

ED,

Now that's a much more sensible way to conduct yourself. Not just just demanding people do what you want and putting up lies about them. I have no idea what I did that made you start attacking me. I guess you really thought I just go on this site to sell machines. As I said I sell through eBay and have a 100% rating.

I have never sold a 950 to anyone yet but I have fixed quite a few for people. I have never actually bothered to pull apart an SLHF950 meter but I think what BOBY indicated to you in one of his posts was that the LEDS had a mean time before failure. I have pulled apart an SLHF100 meter and I assume they are similar construction. The active chip components on those are surface mounted on the board for space reasons and protected by a layer of black gunk.

In observing the action of the fault it looks like the drivers of IC op amps get overloaded as the third LED in each segment of three lights up. As a test, I would try replacing those three with more modern surface mount LEDs but adding a surface mount resistor in series to each to both drop the brightness (as modern LEDs are much more efficient) and therefore decrease the load on the circuit. I don't know if that works but the modified meters that I have seen in pictures from boby seem too bright for me anyway so it cant hurt.

cheers Noel

Noel , you finally came out with the truth.

You are saying exactly what I have been saying..

I read post from the past about you taking machine for repairs from people on this site and telling them the Betmax's were not worth fixing.

Then many of these victims saw their Betamax listed on eBay.

I personally don't care what you and Boby do to the poor people that just come here to ask question. BUT when I ask BOBY to tell me a little about the LED'S and he tells me to send money to some 3rd world Country, PLEASE

Boby came on here and told this board that he would tell us how he was able to repair the LED'S.. He thought I was one of your SUCKERS and tells me to send cash to the pit where he lives .

NOEL, Boby and the others, If your going to use people to make money.. Do it so no one else can see it.

Easy to clear eh ED.

OK ED, I give up. YOU REALLY ARE THAT DUMB! I will try and explain it for you in simple terms that even you might understand. OK READ CAREFULLY. I have a website - BETAHEAVEN.COM and I live in AUSTRALIA. (NOT AUSTRIA OK) THAT SITE says some things about me, MY HOBBY and what models of Beta were sold IN AUSTRALIA and ALSO what a machine in excellent condition might cost. I SELL BETA machines through EBAY and GUARANTEE THEM so I don't see how I am RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. The hints I give on PALSITE are just that. If SOMEONE does not have sufficient technical skill, then they are of no use. I would not try and explain to YOU for instance how to fix a SONY SLHF950 VU meter for example. NOW CONCENTRATE IF YOU CAN, YOU MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING. This is a UK WEBSITE and the TV tuners of the machines I sell on eBay for AUSTRALIA, do not work in THE UK, because the TV channel and sound system arrangements are different. Also CHECK A MAP! Australia is not very close to the UK even if someone did want BUY a machine off eBay just for playing back tapes. I don't list my machines on eBay as available outside Australia in any event because there are too many hassles arranging shipping. The PALSITE was set up by people who are interested in BETA and want to HELP each other keep their machines going. ( a concept you don't seem to be able to grasp) I like to fix stuff, and I am happy to give hints to others on how to do so, because it is hard to get anyone to fix a beta in our constantly growing throw away society. THERE YOU GO ED, now you might understand what everyone else already knew. OH, and in case you didn't already know. If you are in the USA as you SAY you are then they use NTSC not PAL so you are wasting your time here on PALSITE anyway. UNLESS you admit that you really just like upsetting people and that's what your hobby is. cheers Noel
