I'd found that site a while ago. Pehaps if anyone has a relative in the Armed Force currently stationed in Japan that would act as our buyer...
That should've said Armed Forces...
This pesky post is to bring attention of an address change to my little Beta clubsite it is now a Yahoo Groups site thanks to a wrong headed merger by the yahoos at Yahoo. The new club URL is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheBetamaxVideographer/
I really hate Yahoo Groups and didn't want to be folded into their crappy pop-up spam ridden system but it what can one do? Unless somebody can clue me into a less obnoxious host site I can move everything to I'm stuck. Screw you, Yahoo!
I have a SL-700 that needs the head replaced. I have seen some aftermarket heads advertised on the internet for about $32 each. (From company like RNJ Electronic, Fixer Corp., Truminco) It sounds like a good deal to me, however, I am wondering has anyone ever tried those aftermarket head? How are they compare to the OEM heads from Sony (in terms of quality and durablity)?
Olive: What about MSN Communities? Yahoo Clubs were OK, but I absolutely hate the Groups layout. But MSN's is much better than both.
To Madness what's their URL?
What is the URL for the "German Guy" who did the S-Video jack modification as discussed last week (my eyes hurt from scanning the archives in vain)? Ten lashes for those who called them S-VHS jacks, although I do have some on my JVC. By keeping the chroma signal separated they eliminate rainbow effects on the newscaster's tasteless neckties.
Found this on an '80s trivia quiz...
7. Which of these popular '80s items became obsolete by the '90s? Ê Betamax recordersÊ Commodore computersÊ Record playersÊ All of the above
I had(have) all three of those! And in the '90s!
I'm new to this site and am impressed about the knowledge I've already gained in ten minutes!I have a Sony BETA SL-2400 which has been diagnosed as having a bad reel motor stator board and was wondering if I could repair it, since it seems impossible to buy the part. Reading the archived chat messages I found just the information I 'm looking for- the parts are obtainable and the board is removable-thanks for the help- I'll be monitoring this website from now on! Ray e-mail: [email protected]
Where can one purchase battery repair kits such as for the NP-1 Sony BETACAM?
Correction: I'm looking for the repair kit for the Sony NP-11 battery pack.
Here you have a URL that goes to that auctions of betamax equipment.
http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp
If you find someone who ships internationally you can try to get an ED-beta at a good price.
1 dollar = 128,658 yen
PLEASE HAVE IN MIND SHIPPING PRICE!!!
If you need an ID to bid, access or something, I could obtain one, but I 'll only provide one only by e-mail because I must know who gets one. Have in mind that it's at your own risk. I'm thinking to get one of those ed-betas although I use PAL (with a tranformer from 100V-220V/240V...)
Anyone interested in a fully working Sanyo VTC-5000 top loader Betamax. Offers ?
I have an HVT -3000 slide copier with a Sonoptor 55mm close-up screw-on lens that is identified with a marking of: f=115. This attached to the lens of my HVC-2400 (58mm lens) camera for use during the copying process. I want to use the slide copier with my Sony Mini-DV (37mm) and need to know if this means that the closup magnification value is 1x or 2x in case I have to (or should) purchase a new 37mm close-up lens if I can't get a 37mm to 55mm step up adapter. I would appreciate it if someone could advise me if the closeup with adapter would work or should I get a new closeup lens. Thanx, [email protected]
I'm trying to become a betaphile, but the join column is down, and I don't have a credit card to join. I'm also wondering if you have any SL-5800 model decks, because I hate front loaders. If you don't where can I find one? I'm to the point where my VHS decks have gone to crap, and I can't find Betamax anywhere. Help Me.
NNILS, the URL for the German Guy for the S-Video mods is: http://home.t.online.de/home/340054418855-0001/betamax/ . I know it's long but that what the location bar shows when I go there. Later. Pepse.
Have a problem with my 900 again. Does anyone have any insight on the workings of the "Control S out" function? I'm using two units. One Sl-HF750 as the recorder and the HF900 as the player. I've set up the play back scenes on the 900 using the "Edit play" function. Then placed the HF750 in Rec/pause mode. The mini jack cable is conected in the "contol S" of the HF750 and the other end is connected in the "contol S out" of the HF900. When everthing is ready I press "Edit Start" on the 900 and then it goes through the automatic steps of playing back the desired portions. Unfortunatley the HF750 just sits there in Rec/pause mode when recording should be active. I've replaced the 900 "player" with my HF860 and the HF750 begins recording using the 860s synchro Edit function. "Control S out" on the 900 is activated by a system contol IC on the SS-53 board. Between the mini jack and the IC there appears to be a transistor circuit stage I suppose for switching to get the correct signal to the mini jack. Anyway I'm more suspicious of this circuit being at fault than of the actual contol IC since everthing else on the 900 is working fine. And Yes I'm using the right 1/8" mini jack cable. If anyone out there has had a similar problem and has solved it please let me know.
To Bill: An SL-HF 900 and and SL-HF 750? And an SL-HF 860d?!? Lucky you...
I think that the SL-HF 750 was staying in pause because it's the one that's supposed to be in control of the editing process since it was being used as the record deck. Check your instruction manuals. I don't think there's anything wrong with your SL-HF 900 but to be on the safe side why not donate it to the Olive E. Thomas Home for Wayward Betamaxes.... ;-)
To Olive: http://communities.msn.com/
To Anonymous (re: Yahoo! Japan): I just took alook @ that page converted to English w/ Babelfish. It doesn't look like any of the sellers for the beta decks currently listed will ship overseas. It says this (in Japanese) near the bottom:
* Overseas it does not dispatch. (Seller will not ship internationally.)
Kinda stinks, cuz I mighta been able to snag a few cheap decks. Those two SL-HF66's looked enticing, as did an SL-HF701D, SL-HF95D, & an SL-HF3000. :) That is, of course, if I didn't get killed on shipping & duty charges!
I've decided to try MSN communities so if anyone want to have a look it's at URL http://communities.msn.com/TheBetamaxVideographer/
Good one Olive but I think I'll keep my 900 for the next few decades. I'm pretty sure I can keep these units running for long long time and so can everyone else. There's no limit to how far you can take this hobby. The HF750 manual shows the unit configured as the recorder and is hooked up to a 900 which is to be used as the playback unit. When I configure them as shown in the manual the 900 plays the the selected scenes but again the 750 does not engage. It just stays in rec/pause mode. I've taken a deeper look inside the 900 with the help of the service manual and I'm going to try a few measurements on the switching circuit between the mini jack and the system control IC. I guess I'll start with the output voltage(if any)of the Control S out.
I may be wrong here but I seem to recall that the control S is not exactly the same as a mini plug. I do know that the one can use the mini pulgs to contect a couple of 900s via the remote pause connectors, suscpect the same thing will happen between a 900 and a 750.
To madness:I think that you could negociate with someone, cos I think the message you say is by deffect and feel free to ask to the sellers. If you can't ask because it requires you an ID please tell me and I'll open you a new ID.
Reagrds to all in this chat,An.
I am still questioning the integrity of my SL-5800. Just Needed to know if I was the only one who had one out there. The Tape Keeps getting stuck on the capistan. Still, I wonder if anyone out there has a SL-5800 For sale? I need another one. Can someone finally respond to my messages? Thanks. Later, ED.
I've have an SL-5400 and I've had an SL-5800 Sony changed the mechanicals between then. Ended up pulling usable parts from the 5800 to maintain the 5400 because the 5400 runs better. It does now anyway.
If it's getting stuck on the casptan it may be that the rubber on the pinch roller and/or the idler tire is decayed. Sanding the top surface a bit might keep it going long enough to get a replacement one from http://www.iglou.com/studiosound/index.htm#video which sell 'tune up kits' for all sorts of VCR Beta/8mm/VHS etc.
Control S on the 900 and 750 uses a 1/8" mini jack. The 900 has both control S In and control S Out while the 750 just says Control S so I figure that to be a Input. The 900s Control S out jack is mounted to to T1-4 board where its traces run to CN104 pin 3 (other side of the board). From there the cable runs to the SS-53 board. The problem I'm happy to say is fixed. After some continuity checks looks like there was a poor connection in CN104. After disconnecting and reconnecting CN104 I started getting a pulse from the control S out jack when there was zero before. 2 pulses at about half a volt. One pulse for the playback start point and the other pulse for the playback end point. This function is actually really good to know if you're thinking of doing some editing. Cuts look a lot cleaner with minimal color streaks. Sometimes none at all.
To Bill; In case you don't already have one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1339551568 lists an SL-HF 900 service manual for bid on good old E-beta...
Good hunting...
I'm in search of the Holy Grail.... Does anyone have a poor, lonely, unloved RMT-148 laying about their home? I will give it a good home, and pay you for the privelege. If anyone has such a thing, please contact me by e-mail.Take care, and stay well. :)

Also, I have service manuals for the following Sony machines on microfiche.. and will make them available for only the cost of printing them as soon as I can find someone that can make the hard copies from the 'fiche. Once I have those, I can make fairly cheap photocopies here at home. :)
SL-HF1000 (US/Canada), SL-250/F100/S370/S470/S570 (US/CND/E), SL-340/S500/S505/390 (US/E)
I am also looking for a capstan motor assembly for a SL-HF360D (Pt. #BHF-1921A)
Take care, and stay well.

OOPS!!!! My goof!! Please change the previous post to read the following:

I've done the unthinkable. I've contacted my friend scott at sony, and he tells me that a soon to be closed warehouse has CRAPLOADS of Different model ED-BETAs for sale. By law he can't give me more information, but he's on to a loop-hole. About 10,000 ed betas. 100 bucks a piece. More info when I get it. Ed.
well after what happened to Napster, I wouldn't pput anything past the forces of evil within the RIAA...
As for you Edward The 4th....
[email protected] is my E-mail if you really get in any of those $100 E-beta decks...
I'll take an EDC-55 ED Camera and an EDV-9500 deck. If all you can get are EDW-30fs that's fine, I'll take a couple of them so I can edit video...
I have done the unthinkable! OH NO!! its so unthinkable I contacted my friend! shock horror! I contacted my friend "John Doe" at Sony, and he tells me that a soon to be closed warehouse has CRAPLOADS, thats heaps, of Different model BETAs for sale. By law he can't give me more information (although he didn't tell me why the law states he can't), but he's on to a loop-hole, why its a hole in a loop or there's a loop in the first place doesn't seem to have any relevance. About 10,000 betas, SL-HF950 's and SL-HF1000's for the uk and usa guys. 100 bucks a piece Sony will pay you to take them of their hands because they are taking up to much space. More info when I get it, I have to be careful I think the feds are onto me and my friend I unthinkably contacted. Headless Ed.
Now one has to be realistic, its not in Sony's best interests to keep a warehouse full of top units and not sell them for a fair price when there is clearly some market demand for them, let alone "give" them away for a low sum of $100.
Pull the other one
I realize that I'm probably dreaming, but I'll try anyway...
I just picked up an SL-HF 1000 (for $250!!!), but it does not have a remote. Sony no longer stocks the RMT-148, so I can't order one. Does anyone have a 148 that they are looking to sell? If not, can 1000philes give me an idea of which current (or at least SOMEWHAT available) remote to look for that is comparable to the 148?
Also, I have an SL-HFT7 in perfect working condition that is now available. If anyone is interested, e-mail me with an offer...USA only, unless you have a way of using an NTSC unit overseas...:-)
Dear Betaphiles,
I have to apologize for my ex-friend Scott's pratical joke. He was watching my house for the week, and I went to your site to see that he posted a message about ED-Betas or something like that. He was trying to piss you off. Sorry about that. I thuroughly hit him with a golfclub until he apologized. I wish I could have done something about it. He just wanted to make another huge argument about Beta vs. VHS again. Sorry for the inconvinence.Edward IV

To Phil: I don't own an HF1000 (YET!), but I do own a 750 w/o the OEM remote. I got ahold of (think, but don't have handy) an RMT-V1000TX. It controls a good portion of the 750's functions (prolly does most of the 1000's as well). I haven't seen any on eBay lately, but I did find an RMT-V102 that looks very similar. It has the VTR 1/2/3 command switch & the shuttle dial, so it might work well for the 1000. I'm not 100% sure, however, but it might be worth a try.
Remote: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1338935550
Correction to above: My remote is the RMT-X1000C. Here's it here: http://www.replacementremotes.com/sony/RMT-X1000C.htm Although they were *much* cheaper on eBay!

To Olive & BeefJerky:
Regarding the proposed SSSCA: It is my understanding that besidesthe RIAA, the Movie Industry (In particular the Disney) is also pushingthis crap. As I suspect many of you know - that old asshole himself -Jack Valenti of the MPAA (and the big loser in the famous "BetamaxCase") is pushing this stuff for the movie industry. I guess some peoplenever give up. Quite frankly, I think it is every U.S. reader on this board's dutyto contact both your local Congressman/woman and U.S. Senator and letthem know how you feel about this load of crap. Unless we speak up mostof these people in Congress are pretty much clueless about such things.
Olive: I was just giving an example of the 1000C remote. I know 84 bucks is quite alot considering that I got mine off eBay for a total of about 28 bucks. It's also quite interesting to note that they once had an RMT-143, which, if I'm not mistaken, is the OEM for the HF750.

Hello all,
Does anyone know the Pinouts for the audio connector on the back of a Sanyo VTC 9300? ?
I need 'em to make a scart lead for the old warhorse.
Thanks
Bill
Pepse, your link for the "German Guy" s-video mod doesn't work for me.Can you verify it? Thanks.
Regarding US cable channels above 36 not accessible on Sony Beta tuners, there once was a kind of back-of-set cable adapter for 70's tv sets with old style rotary VHF & UHF tuners. This little gizmo moved all channels up about 450 mHz higher, so all cable channels re-appeared on the UHF band. I recall the item was about the size of a cigarette pack, no buttons or knobs, no remote, just cable in and UHF out. If anyone finds a stash of these lying around it would make taping the Space Channel a lot easier...
I'm looking for a CCD-chip for a Betamovie BMC 500 camcorder.Thanks for help.
Hans
I'm desperate to buy a betamax video recorder, doesn't have to be in mint condition, just so it plays tapes ok ! Could anybody point me in the right direction ????
hi i am looking for a manual or a copy of the manual for sony super beta hifi model sl hf 750 vcr if anybody knows where i can get 1 please contact me at my e-mail addressthank you and take care
From the Babelfish translation of the 'I love Beta' site
Beta-max advantage
* With small cassette tape maximum of 5 hour video recording possibilities (at the time of L-830 use) * Because direct line of the rotary head drum the 74.5mm and it is large, relative speed of the tape and the head 7m/ second is superior fast in signal record quality, is low with jitter high picture quality * With kind U loading in the tape colorful trick play and the quick response actualization
Why you call " beta "?
Because agitation mass record is adopted, interference between the video track/truck was little, there is no guard band which is necessary to that, could improve recording density rapidly. It called this " betta record " and became origin of a word " of beta " (it seems).
So there being a guard band in the beta Is, this assistance buying to high picture quality, don't you think? ? is sarcasm.
As for small cassette size?
Cassette of beta of publisher's series size. This was size of the SONY of that time employee log, (it seems).
As for standard beta I
Only one hour it could videotape the first beta which is sold in 1975 with the L-500 tape and was. Because two hours it could videotape the VHS which next year is sold with the T-120, it opposes to this with beta II of two time mode. This beta II becomes standard afterwards and beta I disappears.
When the VHS sets up long time war with three time mode, it opposes to this with beta III. With the L-500 3 hours, record of maximum of 5 hours becomes possible with the L-830, but with the T-120 of the VHS 6 hours, it does not reach to 8 hours far with the T-160, it influences also the fact that at that time the videotape is expensive, the market means to tilt in the VHS.
this little nugget was most interesting....
As for small cassette size?
Cassette of beta of publisher's series size. This was size of the SONY of that time employee log, (it seems).

Casimir: It looks like this guy is selling a case of twenty-four LS-250 beta tapes. They're probably stock that was meant to be used for prerecorded tapes. These tapes are often prefixed w/ "LS" but they're just L-250's. Good for an hour & 5 minutes in PAL.
nnils: I see by the address I gave I had 2 errors. So try this link: http://home.t-online.de/home/340054418855-0001/Betamax/ . It worked going thru my Bookmark and typing it in by hand. Sorry about that. Hans, I have a Sony BMC 550 and Sanyo VRC 500 that I would sell for parts; package deal. Email me for details.
Peter Steele, email me about the SL-HF 750 manual if no one else has.

I just triple checked the link the the German guys page and it worked for me. Pepse.

Hey hope you guys don't hate my guts. I just got a Sanyo-4010 for $25. Got three tapes too. Where can I find NTSC blank tapes? Ebay doesn't have any. Thnx,ED.
To: Edward The 4th, Radio Shack sells fresh blank beta tapes. Search E-bay with the following URL http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&query=%28Beta%2CBetamax%2CBetamovie%2CBetacord%2CBetavision%29&ebaytag1=ebayreg&ht=1&category0=293&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&sc=1&st=0 for your best shot at various lots of used Beta tape
http://listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/category2286/index.html seems to bring up more of the old rental movies on Beta than anything else
I have posted a message on the video 2000 chat page regarding a large batch of video 2000 tapes ive just found......Can you check out that message so i dont have to type it all out again!! :)
should be of interest to any collectors of old ads and programme IDs and redundant VCR formats!!
Mike
I've just looked into ebay, and using just "Beta tapes" as my search parameters, I find several batches of new tapes available for auction. If I didn't already have plenty of blanks, I would bid them myself. Also, Crutchfield still sells Sony brand Beta tapes.. that's where I bought the ones I have. They have both standard and high grade tapes ($3.99 and $4.99 respectively)
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-pxemPgHETBR/ProdGroup.asp?c=1&g=46600&s=0
Been looking at my beta tapes....Found BBC1 on a close for the night on the tape last recorded last 1980s.Played God save the Queen very nice
:-)
Ooh there's also Telly Addicts, Lord of the Rings cartoon film...The Celtsand Tim Hunkins Secret life of Videos (sadly in poor condition)Tomorrow World.... Eastender (when Cindy was alive!!) I think I have rock and Roll years not sure..:-)
Ooh and a bit of Live aid!!

Damn! That 'Snaling' fellow has been getting bodacious on E-bay with nearly fifty or so Beta VCRs cameras and the like won or bid on in the last 30 days. Nobody can need that many betas for personal use and he bids on almost any piece of crap. Like I said before he's either a dealer or a JVC man...
If you're on this chat page, why not give the rest of us Beta fans a friggin' chance at a Beta HiFi VCR!!! Take a rest, eh?
that's [email protected] by the way...

That Snaling fella must have a ton of dough to throw around if he's snapping up all those betas!
Olive [email protected]
To Franny: Penisonic... good one!
Just out of curiosity, a few weeks ago I did a quick check of Snaling's successful ebay purchases, and found that during the space of about a month this person had purchased something like four SL-HF870Ds, three SL-HF860Ds, six SL-HF900s, three SL-HF450s, three SL-HF300s, five SL-HF400s, two SL-HF600s, one SL-HF840D, and atleast a dozen low-end mono machines. Not sure what he's doing with these units, but he sure has a lot of 'em in his possession. Howard
Reselling them on E-bay to the rest of us at ridiculous prices? Face it folks, there are a lot of Betaphiles out there that will pay top dollar for a working machine, especially the SL HF stuff. This guy's probably taking advantage of that fact. :(
On the other hand, Andy Sanchez has another happy customer. I sent him my SL HF-1000 for repairs, and he has already got it back in working order very quickly for me, without "padding" his bill, or putting in parts that were not needed. I am VERY impressed with Andy's expertise and integrity.. not a lot of that in the repair business anymore. Thanks Andy.... I'll send more work your way. :)
I've checked his seller list and he has yet to sell anything. Maybe this is where Absolute Beta http://videos.net/betamax/ gets their stuff. Have you seen THEIR prices for Betas?
Hi, I have a Betamax X2 Model 8600 unit for sale. Anyone interested let me know. Best Regards Ray

To Franny; If Snaling is from Absolute Beta that would explain their ridiculous price list... http://www.eis.net/lib/start.cgi/absolute/pricing.html
$600 Bux for an SL-2000/TT-2000 !?! $500 Bux for an SL-5600 top loader !?!
As Al Capone once said "...I'm in the wrong racket!"
For whatever it's worth, I don't think "Snaling" is an ebay cover for Absolute Beta. In the two years I have been following ebay, I have noticed Absolute Beta bidding periodically on Beta VCRs, and it has always bidded under its own ebay moniker of, what else, "AbsoluteBeta". "AbsoluteBeta"'s m.o. on ebay is to high-bid beta items at the very last second, without any prior warning. "Snaling"'s ebay m.o. seems to be to bid early and bid high, and hold off everyone else with a high initial bid; two different bidding m.o.'s. I do agree that Absolute Beta's prices are, too put it mildly, rather high. Howard
I am thinking about selling my Sony SL-HFR70 & my matching HFP -200. I amthe original owner of both units; and have the original shipping cartonsand packaging, the original remote control, and the operation manual -all in excellent shape. Both the SL-HFR70 & the HFP -200 are in excellentcosmetic and operating condition. There is some very light scuffing onthe top of the VCR unit and the lettering has rubbed off of the "Eject"button. Other than that, the units are in great shape. All doors andopening panels are in great shape. The VCR also just had a check up atmy Sony Broadcast dealer two weeks ago - ans works perfectly. I am selling mostly because I have now transferred most of my homeBeta and SuperBeta tapes to DVD. I an NOT giving up on Beta - just havetoo many commercial SuperBeta units at work to justify keeping a unitat home that I rarely use. Will consider SERIOUS offers from the LOWER48 STATES ONLY. Thanks for reading.
Maybe Elvis is buying Betas for his alien friends...
Olive [email protected]
To Howard: Snaling is just as much a 'sniper' as Absolute Beta even more so as he's taking more shots than somebody in a Texas clock-tower - and hitting most of them. It seems Absolute Beta is more the Lee Oswald type sniper in taking fewrer shots (4 bids this month) and going after Pro equipment this month. Betacam U-matic...
But one still wonders where all the Betas Snaling gets are going. Hopefully they're turned around and go to loving homes but I remember reading where Elvis would buy up old houses around Memphis just for the fun of tearing them down...
Now if we see Snaling bidding on a wood chipper....
Olive [email protected]
For the record I'd meant to imply that maybe Snaling might be some crank with money buying up Betas to destroy them not that Snaling is Elvis...
But wouldn't that be an interesting story...
Hi! This a great site, i own a Sony SLC6AS betamax VCR which i picked up for $50 a few years ago, it works fantasticly well and i use it to transfer from Beta To VHS for friends who want a rare movie on beta that i have
My collection is about 3,000 with 1,000 of the Beta'sLast month i had to replace some of the tape path belts as the tape would not load, but it cost me stuff all and i am enjoying watching BETA
The superior tape loading path of BETA prevents tape breakage and the machines last longer before needing service (in my experience) I have another Beta which is an older Sanyo top loader which i use to wind the tapes after use so i don't wear out tme sony.
The sound from the C6 machine is really good, it sounds like hifi but its not.If you check out my photo album on yahoo, you will see my video shed with movies and the and duplicating gear

i just stumbled on this site and its great

To Mathew; nice gear mate. Maybe you could hook up with the other bloke in Oz with, what has to be the largest collection of Beta decks down under - or anywhere short of Snaling's basement - and see if you can get him to part with a spare SL-C9. If you like your SL-C6 you'll really love having a C9 which is almost completely beltless in operation - the only belt being the loader ejector belt. The C9 also has linear stereo which is something the US version the SL-2500 didn't have. The C9 also let you hook up a K-connecter equiped video camera as well as some trick play features and audio dub capability. All in all a pretty sweet unit to go for.
The SL-C6 by the way was sold as the SL-5000 in the states and was later modified to have HiFi recording capability and sold as the SL-5200. No HiFi C6s were sold in the PAL format though. PAL users had to wait for the US SL-HF 400 to come out to get the PAL SL-HF 100 variant.
You mentioned being able to dub tapes to VHS. The funny thing is, for me, I usually do it the other way around and dub VHS tape I borrow or rent to Beta. Which is the was thing ought to be... heh heh.
Olive [email protected]
That should've said 'the way things ought to be'...
By the way I couldn't help but notice that bodaciuos Commodore 128FD. Sweet! I used to have the C64 and C128 for a while till I switched over to a Macintosh and apart from that annoying 'load*,8,1' business I loved using them. Had the Geos64 program and some great '80s video games like Zaxxon (kickass!) and a bunch of other ones whose names elude me right now...

I just heard the English Queen 'mum' has just died at 101 years.
Just checking in.
Just checking in.
Franny: The Queen's death has been all over the news even here in the US. How long did she rule? Since like the 50's?
Olive: Rentals to beta. That's the way it should be and always will be if I have anything to do w/ it! I particularly like recording from digital sources (DVD or Direct TV) on my HF750 @ ßII w/ betacam tapes and have never been disappointed! The thing that blows me away mostly is the sound! A beta hifi done from digital is just breathtaking. Especially when sourced from DVD. Set the DVD audio option to "Dolby Surround" or "Dolby 2.0" (whichever is available) and ya get a nice Pro Logic ready beta! Video does a pretty good job @ recording animorphic or 16:9 widescreen too!
Finally: For anyone looking for a good supply of cheap blanks, keep an eye on this dude from eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1342056300
He must have a ton of betacams cuz he almost always has an auction up for 30 -lots. And you can get more than one lot of 30 if you want (I just bought 2). Just thought I drop in that 2¢ in reply to a few earlier posts regarding blanks.
To Madness. Queen Elizabeth not being a blood heir never ruled the UK and was offically a 'Queen Consort'. Her husband King George VI took the throne after the abdication of Edward VIII. Upon his death in 1952, the crown passed to Elizabeth II (Elizabeth I's daughter). Queen Elizabeth II's husband Philip not being a blood relation isn't known as a king but is merely a prince.
Well coverage of her passing IS going on one of my Beta tapes...
Madness, as for the tapes, have you got them in your possesion?? I have been thinking about bidding on some but have been curious if it worth the $24.00?? Later. Ppese.
does anyone know where on the web I can buy a Beta VCR Head Cleaning Tape?, I can't find any cleaners in local stores eitherplease send me a e-mail if you know, Thanks
