Hey Olive.. I was at school. I heard about it first from people who had drafting class first period because they'd been listening to the radio. My 2nd period teacher turned on the TV and the first thing we saw was the one WTC tower that was still standing with smoke belching out of it...there was a collective "ohh no"...Bill, thanks for the info. My 600 needs new heads.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1380090603Seems to be just the thing to "Buddy" with an older betamax with no cable channels or MTS>
My sept. 11 story has an unusually "funny" element to it... I had the misfortune of going to a rule-happy catholic school, and they had bough huge tube televisions for each room... they wouldn't let us watch it. One kid, who was usually the joker, stood up, and said to the teacher "You, and all your generation remembers right where you were when Kennedy was shot. And now we will all remember where we were, and that you wouldn't let us put on the tellevision" Of course we did eventually find out what happened, and people were saying it was another Pearl Harbor... And that's where I was.

Franny's probably asleep by now. It's 4 in the morning in Germany...
Nonsense. She's been awake at this hour before. She beats even me for being a Nigh-owl! (watch, she'll post tomorrow morning like this: "What were you doing posting for me at that insane hour" or something like that...)

I went to that BMC-100P seller's webpage and found he had a BMC-500P with batteries listed on the same page as the BMC-100P but it's not on an auction or at least there's no link to one. Grrrrr!
heeeerrreee vidimajix!!! You can have a nice home here with me.... Come out come out whereeeverrr yoouuu arree!
Hello...hoping one of you can help me out. I am into digital video editing and have done lots of projects converting 8mm and vhs to mini dv so that I can import into my computer. My family had a betamax camera in the late 70's or so, and all of my childhood footage is trapped on betamax. How much can I expect to pay for a player with outputs (so that I can hook my minidv camcorder up to it to transfer the footage) they are going on ebay for over $100....is that normal? Any advice appreciated.
Since your family's 'trapped' home movies are (more likely than not) in monaural sound, there's no need to try for a HiFi Betamax which are the big ticket items. Sanyo units go fairly cheap - $10 bux and shipping is not unheard of - but you have to make sure they're functional unless you don't mind having to spend extra time and money buying a new belt kit (which is what ails most Sanyo units). A VCR-4400 or it's derivatives (VCR-3900 or VCR-4000) is more than enough VCR for the job required.
If you want Beta from the master Beta... maker, a Sony SL-2300/2400 will do the job reasonably well enough for your needs and they're pretty common. Bear in mind that Sony used an RCA plug for the video outs and a headphone plug for the audio in those units so you will be heading to 'The Shack' for adapter cables...
not that that's a bad thing...
By the way as long as you're transfering footage to your computer, why not skip the middleman (the DV camera) and pop for an A/V input card or one of those blobby USB/A/V adapter thingies you can park next to your computer. You won't lose a generation of video (and the resultant degradation) and you won't put so much wear and tear on the DV cam.
Not that I really care about the fate of crappy little DV cameras. Shaking out my BMC-220, I think a couple mangled DV cam carcasses dropped out from behind the head drum...
To Aaron: Sorry my post about shipping died yesterday...(Don't you justLOVE computers!). Anyway - I had mentioned that I thought the Post Officewas a poor way to ship electronics. Aside from their poor handlingprctices, their claim procedures are VERY slow and cumbersome. That isassuming they are even willing to take responsibility for their mistake. While I KNOW some people on this board hate both UPS and FedEx, at leastthey have an efficient method of tracking packages, as well as a reason-ably efficient claims procedure. (Yes folks - I've had UPS pay off BIGTIME several times when they screwed up!) If at all possible, try to haveyour seller have both of your 750s professionally packaged by Mail BoxesEtc. or some similar outfit. At a minimum, your equipment should have adouble layer of bubble wrap applied to all surfaces, and be tightly packedwith foam peanuts and foam blocks so the VCRs don't shift around duringshipping. Also, if possible, have the 750s tape drawers taped shut, so they don't open during shipping.
Over the weekend I picked up an old SL-HFR90 (along with RMT-319 remote and manual) from a person who lives in the other side of town for 45 dollars. The deck tested out okay, and I decided to do some editing with this unit just as a fun experiment to compare its editing capability with that of the SL-HF450, SL-HF750, and SL-HF900 which I normally use for editing. I hooked up the SL-HFR90 to an HFP-100 hi-fi processor and proceeded to do about four hours of editing from a JVC S-VHS source deck. The results are as follows: The experiment went well, the SL-HFR90/HFP-100 combo performed without any problems at BIII recording speed; the regular betamax picture resolution is obviously not as sharp as that of superbeta hi-fi, but it held up fairly well nevertheless, and still outstrips VHS HQ by a mile, even in SP speed. Since I'm used to superbeta, the regular beta picture is a tad grainy, but still looks good. The SL-HFR90/HFP-100's editing points and edit transitions are on a rough par with that of the SL-HF450, but is not as sharp or as moire-free as that of the SL-HF750 or SL-HF900. For a 1984 pre-superbeta unit, its editing sharpness still outstrips even the consumer S-VHS units sold today, 18 years later. Happy with the success of the experiment, I will now relegate my SL-HFR90 to my vintage beta collection, but it's good to know its editing prowess is right up there with the big-boy superbeta hi-fi units in case I need to edit with it in a pinch. Howard
Hi Everyone! - I have a three brand new Betacam Oxide tapes left overfrom a duplication job I would like to sell. These tapes are Fuji 30 minute H321E Betacam Oxide tapes (which would be the equivalent of anL-750 when used in a Betamax VCR). They are brand new and come in a hardshell plastic case. The quality of these tapes is well above the typicalBetamax High Grade tapes you may be using. Great for taping that specialevent or movie this fall! I am asking only $12.00 for all three tapes;and will pay for the mailing to any location in the lower 48 states. And yes - I can accept all major credit cards - if you care to pay thatway. (Please note that the wholesale price on these tapes is usually$4.00 to $5.00 - so this is a good deal by any measure!)
Well, I got my SL-HF750 today! What an awesome VCR it is too! Pretty beat up outside, but darn near pristine inside. When I opened it to clean it up I almost fell out of my chair seeing how clean it was. Great picture, even better than my SL-HF860D! Now, on to a question regarding BIs playback. In FF/Rew the bars don't stay steady like they do in BII/BIII, and, when I hit x2 speed, the light above it lights but it's still playing at normal speed? I have a feeling this is normal but want to confirm. Thanks!
nah... sounds like a fatal defect. Give it to meee..... I'll give it a good home! __@_¼¼ :)
One more question, regarding the on-screen display this model has. When I press the display button the tape counter comes up as it should. Is there any other information that I can get it to pull up on screen, and does it require the remote to do it? Thanks!
Oh yes that VCR is definately no good. Might as well toss it out...
or send it to the Olive E Thomas Home for Wayward Betas...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1379291100&rd=1My little friend. I have one of those cameras that has no handle and no tripod socket. I will use it for something, probably a security camera or stick it on the back deck of my car or something. The power supply is good to have, and the batteries, which are probably solid lumps of crystal by now, can at least provide pigtails, voltage and amperage reatings for the replacements. The porta-brace type case is nice. I now have an SLO-340 I do not need. it has some sort of voltage problem or something, it seems to draw all the current it wants until the power supply auto-shutoffs. Even a laptop supply with MASSIVE amounts of amps at its disposal will auto-off. If anyone wants this, it's yours for shipping. Oh, and Andy, if you still want to send me another, that is fine. If not, that's fine too, but now you don't have to screw with a power supply.
Sean
OK franny, you've got me here. Who are Monika and Erika Mankewitz? What am I missing? Is this a refference to something in the German media? or just my own failure to see something....
Thanks!Sean
Andy: I still want the SLO-340, it's now for a friend who had his eyes on the one I just won. I am being nice. Also, I am giving him my broken one as a parts beast, so it is no longer available, but it doesn't matter, only a tech like Andy or Brenda could have done ANYTHING with it at all, and they are painfully common, so sorry to anyone who wanted it.

I see. Personally I Think you look much better and more mature looking in your raincoat (the last photo you posted. You looked like a news reporter) as opposed to these two... Anyhow, good luck getting another BMC-500P. .. was there a 600???
Sean
Hrm, they look too cute to be evil spawns of Satan.
Well it looks asif VHS may be on its way out just like Beta, maybe JVC thought being out of production was a new feature they should have also. I was in the Target store a few days ago to pick up some VHS tapes for a transfer job nad saw that they had almost all of them on the clearance rack-- they had T-180s @ 3 for $4.20-- which come in handy for PAL>> NTSC transfers. T-120s could be had @ 9 for $6.90! They still yave a feww types around but most were being cleared out. The same thing happened about 8 years ago when they cleared out all their Scotch L-750's for $2.00 each, I am guessing at some point they did it to Sony since they no longer carry them and for some time I was in a Target free zone.
Careful Beefjerky, they're not 'legal' yet...
And Sony never released a 600 model in the EU
LOL. Don't worry, I'm way over here in the states anyhow. Hrm, but no-one's actually answered my HF750 questions. Guess I'll have to wait for Andy or someone to drop in.
Well I wish I could help you with the Sl-HF 750 but our 950 only has the one speed so I can't really do a feature comparison...
I really is so sad how Sony deprived you PAL people of more than one speed. My condelences to you.
Does anyone in this group know of a source for betamax VCR manuals? I've got a Sony SL-HF300 and need the manual. Looked on the Sony website but couldnn't find one.Thanks,F.Flynn
Beef Jerky, just got home from work and seen your posts. As for B1s, just to make sure we're on the same plane, I went and recorded something and played it back; in FF and then REW and the only thing I noticed is the bars are much thinner than same situation in BII and BIII. So, if anything B1s gives a cleaner FF and REW. As for the X2 speed and lites on and nothing changes that is normal because when in BII or BIII and you FF or REW the unit kicks in to BI speed. Hence, X2 is useless in BI. Now as for the OSD. the only things that the OSD has is tape counter and timer settings. Oh yeah, when you use OSD for the timer settings everthing is in military time. Don't know what Sony was thinking but it is normal. The remote functions are the same as what's on the face of your vtr except the remote does NOT have locking FF. Bummer. I don't have the original remote but I picked up a Sony RMT-V373 a few years ago and it works great with the HF750. Go to http://www.replacementremotes.com and check thru his Sony remotes. The last time I was there he had the same type RMT-V373 and IIRC a couple similar ones fer sale. They have the jog/shuttle like the RMT-143. Or, occasionally the RMT-V373 comes up on Ebay.
Later. Pepse.
Okay, that answers my question on the OSD, and now I know what Ray Glasser's site was referring to with the military time. Also, the non-existent x2 in BIs makes sense too I guess. Though, I'm sure Sony could've put in the functionality should they have wanted to. Now as to the FF and Rew in BIs let me clarify. While the lines are thinner as you said, that wasn't what I was referring to. In BII/BIII the horizontal lines stay in pretty much the same position on the screen while FF and Rew, but in BIs they move around in the same way they would on a 2head model. Also, I don't get good still frame in BIs (though, it's beautiful in BII/BIII) which I didn't expect. What I've read somewhere at one time, was that on the 750/900(mod) both those FF/Rew and Still oddities are normal due to the special effects only being optimized for BII/BIII. I guess I just wanted to confirm :) Now, I can say this, BIs gives a BEAUTIFUL picture! And, even though my 860D can't record, it does still play them very nicely even if not quite as sharp. But, overall, the 750 does give better record and playback results at all speeds than the 860D, which was still better than the other beta's I've used ( HF300, Sanyo 7250, Toshiba V-S54, V-M41).
Beef, I guess I understood it but I had to go back and check it again, and you're right it is kinda wavy in BI, but when I paused it in BI I thought the pic was fairly sharp. Don't know if it matters much but I record alot of my stuff off of "C" Band Satellite, which gives a bit better pic than cable, mini dish or over the air as my link is direct and the others are second hand.
As for replacementremotes.com go to page 4 and you will see the V-373 and some others. The main thing to look for in a universal remote is the VTR1,2 and 3 switch. In this way you can use your 860D for VTR1 and the HF750 for VTR2. There is a switch under the top cover for VTR1 and VTR2. The HF900 and HF1000 have it too. And VTR3 is for the other format. Oh yeah, VTR2 is also for Sony HI8.
Later. Pepse.
Frank Flynn, go to http://www.absolutebeta.com and at the top of the page is a phone number and email address. He was selling copies of manuals for $10.00.
Later. Pepse.
Happy Friday the 13th everbody. And remember: Don't step onna crack or you'll break yer mum's back. And don't step under any cats or don't let them black ladders cross in front of you. AH-HA-HA-HA-HA. I love this day.
Cheers. Pepse.
Beef, I'm gonna check out for the nite, it's 2:30AM CDT and I think I'll try for some extra ZZZZZZ's for a change.
Later. Pepse.
Well... I think the Wards Home For Wayward Electronic Equipment may be getting a new arrival. I've all about convinced my gram to give me an old Sony TV from I guess the early 80s. It looks cooool.. except for the big tuner-dials. The last time it was on I remember it had a very red picture... I guess I will have to turn down the red drive or something. Andy, do you fix TVs?
Ah, yes.. Also. Well, the two "evilspawn" don't look all that evil. In fact.. they look like the type I'd spend a day at the mall with! Hey Beef but remember if it ever does die I asked for it first! :) ___@_¼¼ [== ¼¼¼¼O] ¼¼_@____

Pepse: For a remote, I'm using a touch-screen universal, so I think I'm all set :) The command set switch was helpful for me, since I have 3 sony's (860D, 750 and a VHS). Anyhow, thanks much for the help!
If the SL-200D can record BIs you could find the way to modify the hf2000 to record BIs as the hf900. What do you think about that, Andy?
Just a thought. Regards to all,
Casimir
I don't think so, Casimir, since the SL-200D is a four-head model and the poor old SL-HF2000 is only a two-head model. The difference in number of heads make conversion of SL-HF2000s to record B1s an impossibility, the way I understand it. Howard
Speaking of the SL-200D, the news on the site's homepage caught my eye! Looks like Sony is finally banging the nail into beta's coffin in Japan? I had once hoped that maybe someday I'd take a trip to Japan and come home w/ a couple of shiny new SL-200D's. Let's go to their world HQ and fling DV tapes and memory sticks at them for killing our beloved format; for killing their brainchild. Who will get the very last beta deck that rolls off the line> It'll prolly be a machine w/ a history!
And as for VHS dying, good riddance I say. I've read several articles about DVD overtaking it. Amazing how history repeats itself. CD's did it to LP's & cassettes about 13 years ago; DVD is doing it now! To me, DVD is nothing but superfine source material for beta dupes!
Madneß ;)
DVD... BAH! DVD is pure evil. You trade dropouts and static for pixelization and more "artifacts" than king tut's tomb. Oh, yeah, there's region coeds (WTF is up with that? there is no point to it whatsoever!) and, of course, macrovision! I will not own a DVD player for just that reason. LaserDisc is my movie format, Beta my common recording format, and VHS is used, well, if someone wants a VHS tape. When I get my Umatic decks, it will be my edit format, alongside beta.
Sean
Madness, I'm sure the last Beta unit will be acquired by Sony's Museum/Archives Division to be displayed in their corporate museum, probably alongside the very first SL-6300 that was ever manufactured in 1975. On getting a new Japanese domestic Beta, it would be my feeling that some brand new units will be around for the next year or so, especially in the smaller mom and pop electronic stores in Akihabara in downtown Tokyo, as they try to sell off what's left of their Beta inventory. I would think that the next six months or so would be an excellent time to head to Japan to pick up a few brand new units before the new units are completely extinct. Howard
Well, here's my view on DVD. Sure, there are some badly mastered discs out there with a lot of pixelation and artifacts. But, most of them (at least from major studios) seem to be well mastered, and very little, if any, noticable artifacting or pixelation. At least from my and friends experience. So, as for me, DVD is good. Just get a player that you can disable region and macrovision. Personally I can't wait for a "standard" recordable DVD format and affordable recorders. Now, OTOH, DV/MiniDV isn't all that great, they didn't give it a high enough bitrate, and it pixelates way to much in high movement scenes. But, I do like DVD.
Hey all, sent out the money today. The SL-HF 750's will be on their way as soon as the money gets to the shipper. Life is good. Even better, I can still get new blank Betamax tapes at the local Radio Shack. :)
Why dont you people leave Andy alone to repair Sean's 900. Does Andy repar TV, PLEASE !!!Next you will be asking him to return the betas.
But if you need to get a hold of old Andy, I can get him on this page like A SHOT . BETA INFORMER BACK ISSUES ..LOL
For christ sakes Sean , he only has your unit for 9 month , stop trolling for Andy!!!!!!! Just kidding
To Beef Jerky: I deffinately agree with you that anyone that isn'tusing DVD for their video is really missing the boat. My company got it'sfirst DVD recorder - a commercial Panasonic DMR-T2020 - back in earlyJanuary and we've been busy with DVD work ever since. We now have twoPanasonic units, a Pioneer commercial recorder, and a DVD duplicationsystem that can easily produce 70-80 discs a day with ease. The qualityof most tape material that we transfer to DVD is every bit as good asthe source material. In fact, the DVD recorders have a median filterthat actually removes noise from the video signal; allowing us to burnDVD copies that in some cases actually look a bit better than the originalsource material. While I'm sure that many people will have complaintsabout some of the recorded DVD movies and such out there; I think itshould also be mentioned that if you have a "cheapie" DVD player you WILLNOT be seeing or hearing the same quality video that a higher grade DVDplayer will produce. I know from experience, that when I replaced myoriginal DVD player - an inexpensive Samsung unit I won as a door prizeback in 2000 - with a middle of the line 2001 Toshiba unit, the improvementin video quality was quite visible. So before you go and badmouth DVDquality, consider the player you are using for playback.
He;s got it in the mail, he's done. Take a look at my new toy. This will give me the most oddball, unique outfit wiht my SLO-340.

I have an SL F1 with all accessories and camera. Unfortunately the power supply has gone out. Our local repair man says that he can't fix it. I need advice. Should I find some one else to try to repair it? Buy a new player to retrieve family films? Sell my stuff? Just give up? I'm new to this site, so I am not familiar with what's out there. Thanx. BK
Speaking of snails and snipers, I've been keeping an eye on a HF450 like what I got a week ago and this one is up to $335.00 with about 14 hours to go. Supposedly less than 50 hours use and it has the remote and manual, $335.00 and probably more?? That's nuts. And the bidders are 0, or 1 or 2 rated. IMO, $335.00 or more is more like the "D" series or the HF750, or maybe the HF900.
Well this Sun. I'm off to the big Catholic church auction in a neighboring town. In the 6 years I've been going still no Betas, but I don't give up. The nice thing about this auction is that 90% of the items are won with low bids, unless you get some people that gotta have it. Everthing is donated so there really is no minimum. Usually enough stuff to completely furnish 2 or 3 large homes, including a TV in every room. I'm still hoping that the TV/Appliance store in town decides to donate some Beta vcrs. I bought my first Beta from him 18 years ago and when I was last in his shop about 4 years ago he still had a few new never sold Betas, mostly Sony's IIRC. I can always hope.
Later. Pepse.

About that SL-F1. I tried posting a while ago but they're not going through for some reason. Is the broken power supply off of the TT -F1 tuner module or were you using an AC-1 adapter/charger unit? Finding a spare AC-1 adapter should be reasonably achievable or at least a DC-12V power supply can be adapted to power your SL-F1.
I have owned and loved Pal betamax recorders for more years than i can remember. Sadly, I no longer have a serviceable Pal betamax machine and am looking to buy a new or good as new one. Can anyone out there help?
They stopped making PAL Betas in the late 80s-early 90s. Try this Dutch website if you're looking for 'good as new' PAL Betas.

'Nother PAL betamovie, Franny.
On that 2700 up for auction, (1381082295), that description sure left me dizzy.
Re: The 2700: Sounds to me like the seller made a contradiction. One the one hand, he issued the classic, "it powers up, but I have no tape(s) to test it." But on the other, he states that it "has a beautiful still frame picture" and "I've played w/ it the last week and all functions work great." How could he verify the latter two if he has no tapes???
I NEED to buy a betamax video recorder. If you've got one, or where I can get one PLEASE PLEASE contact me.

Happy hunting!!!!!
The thing I didn't mention: I got back from an estate sale a few towns over just a few hours ago. I scored two more beta decks!!!! An HF500 that plays but seems to have a weak loading system. The tape sometimes loads properly and other times fails and is spit back out. Other than that, it does play well when it loads (haven't tested record yet). And a bigger shock, an SL-5200 that works perfectly (no slowdowns or anything on this one!)! I tested both playback and record and this baby is flawless all the way! The lady hosting the sale told me her late husband was a video nut and these machines were his. The sale also included a box of commercial tapes; and homemade one's that look like they were recorded off HBO and AMC in the 80's (the one's that I've watched segments of).
Madness: Get a tube of VCR lube from Radio Shack and lube the loading mech of the SL-HF-550. That should help it load up better. Good for you, getting those. What do you have now?

Good Beta hunting Madness...

That is good, Franny, it is sad that you do not have one anymore and yet you have all these pictures from yours.

Well an SL-F1 and a camera is not the worst thing in the world to have...
IS THERE ANYBODY OUTTHERE WHO HAS A SL-F25 SONY BETAMAX VIDEO RECORDER FOR SALE AS I CANNOT GET THE PART ANY MORE FOR THE ONE I HAVE PLEASE CONTACT ME.THANKS JOHN GLANVILL
What seems to be wrong with you SL-F25? Maybe there's an equivent part of the American SL-100 which it looks to be a 'clone' of. You can find lots of SL-100 on the US e-bay as it was common over there.
It was funny, I brought the decks home and my boyfriend is like, "More beta recorders??? You're already drowing in beta cassettes!" I guess it's just a passion.
But anyhow, it wasn't a bad score. I'm thinking possibly that the previous owner of this particular SL-5200 might've had it repaired or "tuned-up" a short while ago. Has none of the other issues previous one's that came into my possesion had. I've also always been amazed at the loading system. Not only is the cassette well on the other side, but the tape loads around the drum in a counter-clockwise direction (more like a betacam machine).
hehe-hahaha!!!! That 22-year old Sony TV I got from Gram is now perfect. Except for the off-colour any TV would have after being in closet nearly a year, this TV is perfect!!!! Shockingly accurate and vivid colours for being so old. I just had to adjust the FOCUS to max... It was kind of blurry, and lines would distort. It took a great deal of courage to adjust the FOCUS, as it was very near the CRT leads.. In fact it was on that board at the end of the tube itself. Oh well. I wanted this tv because it goes with my betas better, it's a Sony and it's older than they are.. It and the SL-2000 are probably chatting it up right about now. The only bad thing is it only has the rabbit-ear connections, NO rf in or line in. I hafta use one of those adaptor thingies.. Heh heh heh. I want to tweak it some more but am afraid of breaking it since it is so old. Why is it that when TVs get older their brightness seems to get higher and higher? The TVs brightness is at the minimum but the picture is still kind of 'white.' Me no like brightness.. me like sharpnesssssssss
DEAR FRANNY-MY SOUND HEAD DRUM HAS GONE AND I NEED THE KIT WHICH PUSHES OUT THE CASSETTE FROM THE FRON OF THE VIDEO- HAVE YOU GOT ANY ADDRESS IN AMERICA WHERE I CAN PURCHASE A SL-100 FROM , THANKS FOR YOU HELP,REGARDS JOHNGLANVILL
Your best bet would be American Ebay. I don't know what Farnny could realy do for you, since you need an American or UK model and she's in Germany. Franny is just very clever, I doubt if she will really be able to help you get one, given the whole geographic situation going here. Now that I think about it, I know where there was an SL-100 but it is almost certanily gone by now. Like I said, American Ebay. if you have patience you will find a cheap one, since it is not a really great VCR that would get $500 or anything, but sometimes people will pay $100 for one, so just get a cheap one.

I have Sony Beta Model SL-HF400. Everything works fine, but suddenly when I press PLAY button the unit clicks of and stops the tape. Can anyone help me? Knows why? What's wrong with it? Thanks.Jeff
The loading mech could've jumped the gears. Getting it back properly isn't something I'd have you do yourself. ASk Andy Sanchez, who posts here regularly. I am getting my VCR back from him soon and I will be able to reccomend him with 100% percent confidence as soon as I get it back. Since he gave me a tracking number, I can say with 100% confidence now that he doesn't steal VCRs! Lots of other people like him, and, it takes him a hwile to fix stuff, but the prices beat the sh*t out of the competition (that is, if you can even find someone willing to touch your machine!), so it's more than worth the wait. IN other words, talk to Andy.

You gotta love the way this seller 'pops the top' of his betas so you can get a look at the innards...

Greetings loyal Betamites,
I'm looking for a semi-high Sony, something in the realm of an SL-HF1000 down to a SL-HF550, emphasizing SuperBeta and special effects, where does an SL-HF860D or 870D fit into the picture? What was the "D" series anyhow?
I was traveling today and missed out on a SL-HF1000 with editor for about $520( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1380540897 ) Did ares-lucy steal that or am I missing something? Another HF1000 went about the same time for about $812, without the editing unit!!!!
I did, however, get outbid on a remote for my HL-SF300 at the last minute by both snaling and mrbetamax. I feel like I've hit the bigtime now bidding against these guys, or at least that I've been run over by the snail express.
