We're a laundry list of vision issues, aren't we? Mine are so thick that you can see "through" my head if you look at me straignt on. HOwever, if I take them off, I have maybe 6" where I can see clearly, but in those 6", I have a magnification effect so strong I can see the microprinting on the $20 bill. Great for working on ornary Betas and cleaning heads and so forth.
damn, the pressures' on now! don't have the computer smarts or equipment to inflict a suitable rendering of my countenance upon you poor, unsuspecting innocents presently, but an inevitable upgrade may make it impossible for you to avoid your eventual fate!
I would like to help a cousin turn her Beta wedding video into a DVD - she has never even seen it herself! What would be the best Beta machine to purchase to complete this process? Would we be able to transfer from Beta machine straight to computer or would we need to go Beta to digital video camera to computer? Might there be some particular areas of concern of which we should be aware? Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Wellsince we've all been screwing around off-topic We're all sorta obligated to lend a hand... The best machine will depend on what it was made on... In general any Superebeta 4-head will do the trick, on the off-chance that it's a HiFi tape you'll need a HiFi deck to get the best playback audio. Why transfer to DVD? Once you have a good beta you should be all set, in any transfer you'd loose a generation... Oh, and be prepared to spend between $250-$1000 for a truly good Beta. Sorry but that's just how it is.
i think everyone should send pictures as candid as jesse and brenda - 'ceptin me, of course!
dvd is a more durable medium.for playback the slhf 900 and slhf 2100 provide playback a notch above most.
Yes. The 900 is a very good choice, I've never seen a 2100 but I don't doubt it.
_@_¼¼-sigh... i wish i hadn't gone and told ennybody about my home page then we wouldn't have everyone so worked up about spoiling the fun of not knowing what we all looked like...
by the way I think that Beta player might not be a PAL unit as it RF-outs to channels 2 or 3...
what do you mean, olive? It's fun knowing who you're talking to! Brenda LOL, you're not ugly. Flying monitor glass like in Final Destination? This computer monitor explodes and this lady gets a big chunk of it caught in her neck.... Yak! Hee hee... Joel well for sure there must be a pencil sketch of you or something.... Or a painting. ;) Should I go check my local museum? I gotta develop my rolls of film, and I'll post more piccies of myself. Maybe even some with Betamie!
BTW madness you look like a rocker or something. Wish I could have hair like that! It'd just automatically grow into a 'fro, though. LOL... Now, if only you were one that had a PCM -F1 or whatever it was, that thing that makes the 2000mie record PCM! ;) OK I'll work on that piccy sometime today. Then I'll post it on that page. I really should get a new pic of myself though
ok, try that link I posted earlier for my piccy and madness' fixed pic is on there. Goodness gracious that IS a lot of hair! BTW also I reconditioned betamie's batty, so I'm gonna take LOTS of video at the rodeo! ;) I was watching some video from band camp, and I'm sure the 300 was being driven deaf because the metres were pegged right near the red (the green bar just before red). The betamie colour is sooo great! Too bad Sony didn't make betamie able to see better in the dark. Well Sean yes, but I want a roaster that has the glass trays like the nice lady in the instruction book had. "It's so easy to make a church supper, just cook it in your Westinghouse Roaster Oven and take it in the car to go! Your Westinghouse Roaster Oven is portable, to make things easy for you!"
eh loe pada ngomongin apa sich........ngense doangan.ini tempatnya Betamax.......
yang gaa ngomongin betamax ,bapak moyanng nya monyet
anyone could help about the replacement parts of SL HF 950 rotary head replacement ??????????????
Franny:
I was thinking the same thing on that ßeta player.. all the PAL units I've seen have a variable UHF output on them. I know the UK doesn't even use VHF television anymore.
Never saw final destination, but monitor glass is VERY bad to get cut with because of the chemicals used in the tube. I don't think anything is spoiled by knowing what anyone looks like. And that Beta player DOES look suspiscious... I'll look for roaster ovens tomorrow and take pictures if any... You need a Chip Betamovie, they have good light ratings, down to 15 lux, I think.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
Franny, I looked at that unit and it does seem to have a PAL label on it (you gotta squint even in blow up).
Saw a Marantz Unit with a bizzarely kludged eject button...

Isn't working. Probably a belt problem...
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
Well Jesse I see now Geocities won't even let you visit your own pages without slamming more of their suckass 'interrupt' pages.
They include a feedback survey form too so I filled it out.
Q: "how do you feel about this ad"
A "the ad sucks. the ad's momma sucks. the ad's sister woulda sucked but I didn't have a bus token and a food stamp on me"
Hi. I'm looking to buy a Betamax player, preferably a half decent model, and Sony only. I am interested in the SL-HF450, SL-HF750, SL-HF1000, EDV-7500, SL-340, SL-HF2100, SL-HF860D, SL-HF450, SL-HF550 models. I am looking to pay between 30 -120 dollars CANADIAN. if there are any canadian buyers that would be good. you must list the model number and price (please state if you would like tax included. tax over here in canada is 15%. also add S&H costs). please also state where you are from and have your price convewrted to canadian dollars. you can either email or post on this chat page. thanks :)
I've got an SL-340, but it might need some minor work on the basket. What is that doing among all those nice units? don't expect to get anything better than the 340 for those prices, either
Got the timer. Looks like it will handle the SLO-260 once it is fixed.
Forgot the linkhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2154459193
Actually, I do have a PCM -F1. It's like a perfect companion to the SL-/TT-2000 package. Might've been designed specifically for that deck (although it'll work w/ any beta). I'm gonna get me a nice digital camera soon, I'll get some pics of it all, then.
In fact, here's a picture of it. I'd say it's mated here w/ the SL-F1 here (being this a European page), but it seems that Sony gave the PAL & NTSC versions the exact same model number: http://www.liebrand.nl/la/f1.html
Notice the little cups on top of it that would mean it is designed to have the SL-F1 /SL-2000 sit on top of it. Just like the TT-2000. There was also a Power supply that hadno place to charge a battery in case you wanted to use the PCM -F1 or SL-2000 only in a stationary fashion, I'm not sure of its model number.
well all I know that its user manual only had two lines: "Donate to the Wards Home in San Antonio, Texas. Contact [email protected] for more details!"
Mnagoda-
Good luck finding a working hifi machine in that price range. If you look at eBay (probably the best market barometer around), virtually every hifi Beta sells for more than US$100. 750's, 900's and 1000's START at US$350 and go up from there. The 2100 and ED-Beta machines go for even more. Not trying to dissuade you from your search, but hoping to inject a little reality into it.
That having been said, if you can find some Sony hifi machines in your price range, pick a couple up for me, as well...my 1000 needs companionship...
We're talking "half-decent" models such as HF750, 1000, 2100, EDV-7500...
What's a decent beta ?
Sony SL HF 1000D Betamax NTSC for sale in a very good shape (linear skate loading model)Aluminum front deckk .Original manufacturer Japanese version 110 Volts.Hi Band Beta Hifi 6.o Mhz B1s .Da pro 4 Head for superior quality throuhput.Digital Picture. What else..........??????????????????????????
SL HF 150S rotary head can also be used in SL HF 77K, hueheuheuhelove U ..........
Well, Mr. Boby, I came within an inch of putting my foot in my mouth, but I hceck Betamax.to and there is such a VCR. I call it first, let's deal. take everything after ".com" off my email and contact me ASAP. IN case you can't figgure it out, I'll send you a message.
The problem is I live in ASIA........Indonesia (BALI)so.........?
Only problem for ME now is that I'll have to beat brenda off of it with a stick. (Brenda lives in Korea, you see. I dont' care, I've got that thing in my sights. Lemme know!
Hate to say this, Sean (and yes, I would love to buy that machine), but the shipping and import duties from Indonesia will eat you alive. Figure if you go with UPS or FedEx, shipping alone will run you around $ 200, and your import duties (customs) would be around half of the cost of the machine. I'm fortunate in that at an APO, I don't have to pay duty on foreign goods.. I would personally have it shipped via Air Parcel Post or whatever Indonesia has, would cost a bit less for shipping.
Well I'll work it all out... Worse comes to worse I'll turn the deal over to you...
Thanks.. I hope you know by now, I'm not the type to steal a deal out from under you. :)
Good luck.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - eeeee! That SL-HF 1000D sounds like an excellent prospect for the Olive E Thomas Home for Wayward Betamaxes.
not in a museum, jesse.try about 10km north of the nile ,the fourth glyph to the left inside the main chamber of the great pyramid.like i said before this hit the fan i don't even have a cd burner, let alone any type of scanner....yet. a tempered glass monitor wouldn't be required to view any of you guys i've seen so far. sorry i opened my big mouth ,franny. not an impossible stretch from your jennycam to your webshot. did i really expect a woman to purposely select an unflattering pic for her website? duh!!
Approx 100 used beta tapes with films recorded off air. London E4 area. Offers
Goverment wipe out import duties for such elektronics appliances recently........
Anyone knew about the price of a sealed Japanese TDK Beta Tapes L500 (high contact)
(((A Betacam player cost about 13000 U$ bucks......? well well well.......)))
I work for a sony franchise and i have had a request by one of my customers to see if i can find out where i can obtain a betamax machine!! The model/s he is looking for is an SL-C5UB machine or the C7 model can anyone please help me in finding a source for this machine, if they can i will be very grateful!!
Saw a C-7 on E-bay today if that helps...
Well I was in a camera and photo shop, and it was just my lucky day. Came away with a body cap for my Nikon, a couple audio adapters and a SOny RF switcher because I have to split the RF chain of my VCRs because I have too many as it is and I use RF only for "convenience", I use the baseband for my real recordings and playback...I saw another one of those adapter boxes that go on the side of the SL-B5 and maybe I will be picking it up, along with an ancient NP-11 that the lady said, that , since I have a charger, I can have for half price if it charges since she can't test it... all in all a good day.
SL-HF1000D? Is that like a HF705/750 w/ digital effects like the US HF800D-series? Funny how they use some of the same or near similar model numbers for the US & Japanese decks but they're completely different. Case-in-point, there's an SL-HF500 in Japan that looks more like the US HF550 but w/ wooden sidepanels. Completely different from ours! S'on betamax.to somewgere in the gallery.
hmm....... well like olive's said a betamiecam recorder is free if you can run fast enough, Boby!
ROTFLMAO!!!!
forgot to tell Sean ,it has a user ajustable digital flash motion ,seems all function works fine......
well its true, isnt it?
few Brand new japanese TDK BETAMAX tapes 30 $ @ 10 pcs.........
cheaper for more..hihihihihihihihi
madness:note the slhf1000d features 6.0 mhz b1s while the slhf 750 only offers 5.6 mhz b1s. wonder if it has flying erase heads also.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v -eeee! They removed the 'My Betamax' section of Betamax. To!
hopefully it's a one time thing....
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - which makes me wonder if maybe the owners of PALsite could do a "My Betamax" page for owners of PAL (and maybe SECAM/NTSC?) Beta VCRs...
FOR SALE - PCM F1 with F1 VCR and TTf1 Tuner unit. ALL comes with instruction manuals and the PCM unit has original box. All in working order. Please email me with offers, Please note that I am in England/Essex. I already have an offer of £ 200 for this lot but I paid more than that. I thought I would try on here for a week, then I will ebay it. Cheers
Eurk Viruses..... :(
hi can you believe this i actualy maneged to fit a new video head onto my c5 and it being tracked perfectly !
_@_¼¼-The 'My Betamax' page is still there. They just moved it to a sub page...
look for this link -> http://www.betamax.to/w/souko.shtml
That page still links to the My Betamax page
well you know, why don't we start an NTSCsite or something?
That would be a nice idea, actually. we could have out own chat page and maybe even a special forum for Snail ASCII art with an explaination of the orrigins of the "snail" metaphor (a derisive term for an unscrupulous or overpriced dealer). Nice listings of the NTSC models and a comparison of features among the top four or five models (SL-HF-1000, SL-HF-2100, SL-HF-750, SL-HF-900, what have you...)
daniel:not surprised at all. sony would have you think its a lot more difficult than it actually is. dihedral is factory adjusted . just remember haste makes waste!
Once upon a time the user had to install and replace his own video heads. every 1000 hours or so of use. not too awful hard, although I've never done it...
replacing heads is a breeze if you're nearsighted..... and don't have parkinson's.
Yes, 1/2 the reason I'm not interrested in laser surgery is I don't want to forfeit my "Macro-vision". Extremely useful for electronics and other delicate work.
yup, heads are delicate, but not unreasonably so. slow, deliberate motion is highly recommended as a precaution, primarily due to the expense involved. how's the slhf1000d coming?
The guy wants a turntable in exchange for it since I can find nice ones. Not too bad, eh? I even have a 117-100 volt stepdown in case it needs it. The guy (boby) seems to be a nice enough guy to trade with, I look forward to hapilly closing this deal...
haven't seen many turntables lately,'cept for the dj 1200 mk2's.if that beta works properly, you'll be the envy of the neighborhood! SUPER hi-band 6.0mhz b1s with digital fx!plus linear skate. are there flying erase heads too?
Heya Jesse? Get the Rowe label? Anyone want scnas of the label that went on the Video tape recorder in a Rowe Video Jukebox? "Do not attempt to service video cassette recorder" and so on.
Indonesia is 220V 50Hz power.. that's where you will run into a problem with a turntable..
Well, if it *is* a Technics SL-1200MK2, the hz won't be a problem as it's compatible w/ both 50 and 60hz. It uses a quartz lock and a DC direct-drive motor, so the AC frequency won't affect it's speed. The only difference is which set of dots on the platter you use to see the speed since the neon lamp *is* AC. And, btw, the 1200MK2 rocks. Don't know how I lived before I got mine.
Sean, you getting that 1000D? Get a ton of pictures if ya do, eh? Our HF1000 records in 6.0 SHB, too. But I was just picturing the "D" deck looking like the HF750, whatwith the linear-loading and all. I don't see one on betamax.to at all.
Madness... try this link..
http://www.tokiya.jp/page140.html
when i tried to access betamax.to tonite the screen said forbidden! but brenda's link worked.and i accessed it a few nites ago. wassup????
Betamax. To only lets you access pages through the 'front door' of http://www.betamax.to
Brenda's page looks to be an independent webpage unrelated to Betamax. To
The record level slide no longer works on my SL-HF600, and it is set at 7.5. Is there any practical way to return the record level to 5.0? Apparently the faceplate must be removed, but is that a hazardous process? I have visions of little springs and pieces of plastic all over my worktable. harrym
http://www.tokiya.jp/page140.html
thanks to Brenda it also detecs various Formats in one tape while playing....e.g Beta I II and III
i look foward for a nice Turntable (wish with a needle)the fluorecent display is very bright Sean...........
the're many Buttons inside the SHB HiBand Tape can Marked Indexed and erased.still playing while the Tape tray is out ,this is very common in linear loading.
what can chalengge SL-HF 1000D ~ BI/II/III.........
Looks to me the Rotary Head % is larger than the Drum itself........heuheuheuhuhe
Anybody interested with a Karaoke Betamax (PAL/SECAM ost)with a virgin Rotary Head........
I am working on finding you a nice turntable, boby. All that turned up was a mediocre Aiwa. I can probably get you a good one, and, if it needs it, I will even put a new needle in it.
Yup ......just been busy.Havent ask for Delivery.....maybe nex week i'll inform you.......my icq UIN is 54668324
I hate Aiwa...
that's exactly the the link that failed me half dozen times last nite.it worked flawlessly fom your posting though! thanx!
harry:hazardous? only if you don't unplug it first . a 600 service manual is the best investment you could make .if not for today's problem , then for future snags. my book shows nothing intimidating, but manuals have saved me from myself more than once!
excuse me while i bite my toungue sean! let me try my other foot!...mmfffggg...
harry:just re-checked exploded view of 600. do not attempt without service manual! there are enough small plastic parts and at least 6 springs to confuse a novice. it can be done without the book ,but why look for trouble?
I'm not about to undercut Joel wiht the manual, but when I took the front panel off my 600 it didn't go "Kaflooey", but, still having the manual would be nice touch. Those sliders can be a problem. They are a pain especially on the SLO-1400.
Hi Carol,, How are you?
Email me Okay
That's a nice looking deck, that 1000D. I'd consider it, but Sean called first and I don't even wanna imagine what the shipping cost would be from...Indonesia?
If you take the front panel off, easiest to remove to bottom (or at least the two screws in the front). But be very careful of the springy plastic clips holding it on the sides; they break very easily. Put the slider switch itself all the way to the far right or left and match up the thing on the panel.
I too am having a problem with my SL-HF600, that's showed up just in the last six months or so. Although it has otherwise excellent picture quality, there is a faint wavy line that always shows up toward the left side of the picture when playing a tape on it. The line wiggles back and forth a little bit, and is especially perceptible in darker scenes. It is somewhat distracting when watching tapes. The line always shows up when playing any tape on the HF600, and tapes recorded by the HF600 play back without the problem on my other Beta machines. Does anyone know what causes the problem and how to correct it?
Well, yes. Your deck is suffering from low morale. The problem can be cured by sending it to the new Wards Home in Texas. :)
the ite-bay post was in reference to my 1200 mk2 mention.
Andy did you mover your beta to a new spot with magnetic interference? did you get new speakers or move speakers next to the Beta?
or is it just sad that its not in Texas?
had the front off all my units except the 600 because it has less than 100 hours on it. when you can't buy a brand new replacement for an intricate machine you really enjoy, the more info you got, the safer you are . sony also prints operation manuals for the 900 and 750 which are totally different from the owners manuals. they show the exact position every moving part should be to properly execute each mode [ff,rew, slow, play, etc] and the purpose of each circuit is concisely explained. these manuals are at least as valuable as service manuals in saving your machine from the shop.
andy- how many hours on your control head?
