marvelous rack...........
Sorry too much post

_@_v - you call that a 'rack' (in Paul Hogan voice)
_@_v - now that's a rack!

depressing images......
Jesse: Loaded, gaurenteed GCS-1 with case, three batteries, (Working) tripple charger, wall-wart adapter (Tripple charger has no power facilities) handle, and strap cost me $113 plus shipping from the Ebay seller "jstele". He knows his stuff so if he says it works it does.
Jesse, Betacam vs. prom?? Take the Betacam as your date.
I gotta say, Jesse, when presented wth the choice of something effemeral over something lasting, take something lasting. You buy a betacam/pro-betamovie/whatever, you will always have it. You go to the prom, you might be dissapinted. there is no refund and when it's done it's done...
Madness, I didn't know you made movies!!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2511764489&category=305
I'd watch em... eee hee hee ;) :D :P
ugh..... I've already invested $99 in a tux. I'm not rolling back my decision because then that would really piss off the grrl I'm gonna take. I'd rather take both, my date and betamie SR.
I've found, unfortunately, that taking a videocorder of any sort to a social function makes you unpopular... better to take a nice still camera... SLR type... Nikon...
Consider yourself lucky Jesse...at least you HAVE a date for the prom. Say, do you have a Betacam deck already or does that unit play back its own tapes, unlike the Betamovie line?
Ja go for the Betamie Sr. Every time I read JD Salinger's "The Laughing Man" I think of my prom date leaning in for a kiss...
not a pleasant association cuz then I want to read "A Perfect Day For Banana Fish" and join Seymour Glass in an Ortgies 7.65...
Well I never read either of those, Franny, but I do know that Salinger is as mad as a hatter (or was? perhaps he's dead? who knows?)... at least you got a date at all... I'm so hopeless I didn't even try, not that I care in retrospect, from what I heard from people who were there it would have been a waste of an L-750 and a few hour's charge on an NP-11...
see toldja u were a meanie :) LOL. Well im only taking her because I'd be sent to the counselor's office for "moral guidance" the following Monday if I took the friend I had really wanted to take. What I wouldn't give to take Betamie SR to the prom. Or to senior ski trip!
What kind of school won't let you take a video camera to the prom :)
not a video camera; my friend henry, LOL! accourse I can take my betamie!
This is a pretty hard. Girl or Betacam??? Once in a lifetime shot. (no pun intended) If I had to pick, hmmm. Well I didn't go to my prom so I would pick the girl. However "IF" the girl picked someone else....the Betacam.
Ah, NOW I see... so THAT'S why you'd watch movies Madness made! Makes sense all of a sudden... I personally think Franny and I would make a cute couple (Now she'll hate me) but video standards (Never mind an ocean!) keep us apart...
Yes... THAT's why I'd watch movies with madness in them, LOL!!!! Awww!!!! Cute!
took you long enough! dammit... I dont want to sell the other 300 I sleeched. I think I might have 2 though if I want enuff $.
OK jesse... well, anyway, moving right along. How much do you want for a 300? I'm short on $$$ but WTH, you're not a snail and the 300 isn't what I think of as a costly machine...
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - amazingly this SL-HF 300 hasn't been sleeched...

NEC portabeta! with an HVC-2800...
I"ve never seen one of those either... Wish I had some money or I'd go for it since it has the external mic and the hard case for the trinicon.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
While New York State does has a very few minor tremors (there was once was a "chimney dropper" up in Messina back in 1948) we're not what you would even come close to considering earthquake country Boby.
We seem to miss most of the major disaster weather the rest of America gets...
Tornados, if they happen barely get on the Fuijita index.
Hurricane's are mostly spent by the time they get here.
All we ever seem to get whalloped with is snow...
uh.... snow is like, little flakes of frozen water Boby... ;o)
Someone grab that 300 before the snails do! I'd grab it but I'm a bit short of cash right now (whatwith upgrading my 'puter and all). I'm awfully surprised the flipdown panel survived a thrift store enviroment as they usually throw all the stuff in those canvas bins. And what's all over it, white-out?
In MA it's only a little worse... we do get the hurricanes and the very rare and mild tornado (But the happen!) as well as the also infrequent earthquake, although we've had several in my lifetime I've slept through ALL of them!!! so I don't know what one is like! We do get the snow like you'd never believe... I've got some beta tape of the kind of snow we get... it's raining right now and hopefully cutting some of that snow out of the parking lot I have to use on tuesday....
No liquid paper on it, Madness, unfortuantely that's what the display crystal looks like when it gets hit with something. fortuately that part should be easy to awuire from any similar dead unit.

This was the last major damaging storm that hit my neighborhood back in August...

Power was restored later that evening. The phone lines never went down at my house but the cable TV was out for the weekend...

I think you can get a scratch and crack eliminator at any well stocked scale model hobbyists store. They make it for patching goofs on the windshields of little scale model cars...
I've heard that stuff for airplane windscreen maintenance works fine on laserdiscs, too, so something like that might work if that crack would even bother you... it wouldn't bother me... but I don't have the money for that deck...

SL-HF 2100... but with a broken touch screen!
what evil sack of JVC could do that to a defenseless Beta!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah.... the Trinicon camera. I have on of those, minus the deck. It's all one unit and cannot add any decks on the camera. It's a tube camera. It has a multipin connector to go to Sony decks/portapacks. It gets its power from either a PSU or a deck when connected. Both via multipin. It has white balance and all. The viewfinder has meters to read the luminosity levels. Although, I think I have the older model becuase mine is all black and has a different case. It's a plastic black mold. The manufacture sticker says 1981.
For sale one Sony VO8800P hi band SP portable recorder in very good condition. Low usage comes with kangaroo bag £ 200 or nearest offer.
Jesse: I wonder what could be all over your 300? *SNORT* nope, no idea. Excuse me, I'm going to run DasImperator's things over to his house....
For Andy
The model Sony VO-8800P is U-matic in chat page of the Betamax, but that chat page of the U-matic!

HI, I just picked up a betamax portable recorder, the one that stacks. The outside is in pretty good shape and the inside looks good. My problem is that when I press play it starts to play but it cliks back off right away. FFD and RWD both work seamless.
I need help so I you can drop me a line.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3011253394&category=15099 to my knowledge, every HF400 including mine said SuperBetaHi-Fi on the door, not Betamax... frankenstein had his way with this one
Jakob, it sounds like your VCR is going into emergency stop mode.
Take off its cover and start playback and see what happens. Chances are the take-up reel is not turning fast enough and a slack is created.
This is a common issue mostly caused by reel table wear, which can be corrected by increasing Forward Torque.
I think he mentioned his was a 'stackable' portabeta like SL-F1 or SL-2000 which have direct reel drives.

bah that boogity 300 has a messed up VU metre driver. Going on ebay so a snail will slap his pod on it. Hey chat page owners is it ok if we designate friday as off topic day?
??? which 300? The one you're selling, the one covered in the odd poweder? (It didn't belong to Mr. Delorean, did it?) or some other one mentioned on Ebay?
It's a little late but since we're comparing video setups, here is mine as it stands now...http://uk.geocities.com/redoctober7000/rack.jpg I like the warm tones of my digital camera without the flash. Sorry it's a little out of focus but I wanted all those displays to be seen... I'll re-do it later with a tripod or something...

Franny:; That's the funniest thing I've seen all day... I can think of several more jokes but I don't want to get my posts removed
Free SL-HF900 for the one who will pick it up in Montreal.
There was liquid spilled through the top. The board beneath the mechanical chassis is ruined and its heads have already found a new life in another machine. Otherwise the VCR is in decent shape, most of its parts are usable, its even got the sticker on top.
Would you consider shipping it? I'd like to have a parts machine (I stil need a couple incidentals) and I'd throw in a few dollars for your troubles...
grrrrrrr. Yes Sean the 300 with white powder all over it. Trade it for shipping and a couple packs of film for my snaileroid camera (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=itemlist&sid=104681862621963211&cat1=Film&cat2=Instant%20%20Film) [type 667].
Eh? 667 Coaterless peel-apart? I need some of that myself and I know where I can get it... (What camera do you have?) I'll go friday (The machine works otherwise?) and we can do this. Sounds good... Can you perhaps send a picture? you still have the e-mail from the rowe label, send it there...
Yes I'll be honest. I haven't given it the total path-cleaning and stuff that I normally do when I bring a new deck into the fleet because I know I'm getting rid of it. I've the Lande Camera 320. The 300 works perfectly (as far as I've worked with it) except for the retarded level metre LED panel. They light up sometimes when they want, though. It sounds a bit laboured when it tries to eject a tape (no build and then a "pop" as it spits it out). Probably because the belt is too tight. Gets moderately warm when used. Eee hee Sean how many ru gonna get? I need lotsa piccies for the senior trip LOL.
O ya can u get enny 75 or 3000 speed colour film?
No such thing as 3000 ASA color, unfortunately... I can get ASA 75 color but it's twics as much as the B&W so only one pack for the 300??? Take your pick! I'd ahve the 300 done over by my local tech, the LEDs might just be a bad solder... what color is he? Flipper door intact?
tried jiggling and stuff, no avail. Shes a black one with no flipper door. Some scratches and scuffs from being tossed about at illwill. How much is the colour film? the B/W film at the net store is $7,95. Fine fine dual pax B/W will be fine :) lol.
I think that there's something wrong with the bus that the LED panel plugs into. This one is boogity, sometimes when its' ffwding and I press ffwd again to get the skip-scan it stops and ejects. Only did it when it was first turned on. Nothing major; deck works fine.
I can fix it... If you can get a pack of B&W film for $7.9 I might have to sting YOU for some!!! nope, I'll get you the film and ship it out...
Jeez, boby, you had me going all nostalgic for Franny's sweeping snail-o-grams of yore... and it was only a mistake!
upss
I'm looking for Sony RMT3000anyone can help....
now let's see how fast it takes to get that (or this) post removed. Once again chat page owners can we have an off-topic day (like Fridays)?
WHy do we need an off-topic day? we go off-topic plenty of times... besides, you still haven't thought about hw we're spread out over the world and friday is a pretty much meaningless concept... and, anyway, if we had to go back "On-topic" on saturday, would we be forbidden to answer some guy's question about his caror whatever? I like it how it is...
seems like no one can help with Sony RMT3000i supposed.welle welle welle
I looked on E-bay but didn't find one. I have another place to try for you, go look at http://www.broadcastexchange.com/index.html for all your video needs...
I would agree with Sean that we really don't need an off topic day. We do go off topic almost daily anyway and it seems to be okay with the moderators. I guess as long as we stay away from polyticks and religion we'd be alright, and when we are off topic as long as we come back to reality (Beta) in a reasonable manner that seems to suffice.
Speaking of off topic I will state that after about a week and a half of owning a DVD system I can say that I am not really that impressed. Oh sure, it's adequate and I suppose being that DVD'ds are thinner than tape it's good storage-wise but that's about it. It's annoying that it takes awhile to load because it has to check region codes and other stuff and you don't get a time elasped and/or time remaining counter. As for pix quality so far it doesn't look any better than my HF750 when I record in SuperBeta. Just so you know my tv is brand new and matches (brand-wise) the DVD system.I definately won't be giving up on my Beta.
Later. Pepse.
I agree about the un-neccessary crap on DVD, like how you HAve to watch the FBI warning.. if you think that stops pirates, you're DILUSIONAL. Pirates go into pirating with the INTENT of breaking the law. re-stating it won't help. I like my LaserDiscs the best but DVD has some nice features and it's REAL hard to get newer movies on LD. I'm not giving up anything. I don't think there's a perfect video format, if I had to have only one I know it would be Beta, though...
http://www.replacementremotes.com/sony/
Replacement Remotes in the US has several Sony Remotes. If not the RMT -3000 then perhaps an adequate replacement. I don't know if they'll ship to Asia. (was it Indonesia or Malaysia where you are?)
They do have a lot of remotes there. I wonder if they sell used remtoes? A lot of the pictures show remotes that are kind of beat to $#!^. I also wonder if they'll EVER have the RNT-143 although ince I got the 424 I dont' care
yes gimme good old analog any day. I hate the MPEG-giness of some DVDs, especially the ones with fast action scenes. I also hate the way the player checks for region codes, etc; and the stupid way it forces you to watch the moronic intros and stuff.
olive_e_thomas@yah¿¿.n¿spam.c¿m
_@_v - at least that FBI warning thing and all the other crap at the start is good for killing the first few minutes of the beta tape that you want to record on. Since the first few minutes of any tape are the first to go bad you won't miss any of the movie you've just copied to DVD...
Well, I like DVD. To me, it's a lot better than beta in picture quality. Higher resolution, less noise, etc. Not to mention, instant access to a particular portion of the disc. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up on beta anytime soon, DVD recorders are still way out of my price range. When they do come down, I will start converting over. Lets face it, tapes don't last forever, DVD's have a much longer life span.
I don't like DVD or CD recorders because I think it's terrible that the companies sold out and you have to buy expensive "Music" CDs to use a home deck-type burner... "We have this revolutionary technology taht will let you use inexpensive medai and make high-quality recordings in your home but we're sucking up to the record companies because we mustn't piss them off... so it will cost a whole helluva lot..." I really hate record companies for doing that...
Sean you don't HAVE to use the "Music" CD media. Buy the 50pk spindle. I use the data/music generic brand from squall mart. Is there any difference between the "Music" packaged CDROM and the "data or music" cd roms? Just be glad you dont have to use the $40 a 5 pack DVD Forgetorex recordables from Crap Buy "VIDEO - SPECAILLY FORMATTED FOR HOME VIDEO USE." Can we compare this in any way to the Beta blanks when they were released? Well duh I know that when any format's released its blank media's gonna be expensive but that's ridculous. $40 for 5? No thanks.
If you have the home deck type recorder you have to use the music type of CD. I have the computer type. So no problem there. It's a silly arrangement because if people want to flat dub a CD they will use the cheaper comptuter burners and discs but if they want to burn a custom CD that you can't buy from a record company they have to use the expensive stuff....
i hate those stupid um... stereo-type CD burners. You know, the non-computer type. How idiotic. How much is the polasnail film from the place ur gettin? b/w & colour prices.
THe legendary Beta to VHS adapter?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3011751493
Drool... Sleech...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3011708025
Jesse: don't know the price of the film packs but it's in my mind a fair price for a working 300.
Franny: Cute, real cute... Beta to VHS adapter yeah right that's the other way around anyway and I have one of those... I guess the guy is just hoping to get a lot of hits, if not bids... The second outfit is nice, but the shipping is almost as much as the bid. Someone has a nice SL-F1UB outfit up complete In Box with goodies... but then you can get loads of F1s should you need them..
Anyone wondering about the problem with my 900 displaying an odd line, it's a problem in the tuner, in the tuning (input) side of it. All that that means is that I have to simply bypass the tuner entirely. Not a big deal. I think the tuners were weak in all SOny hi-end VCRs, it was tuner problems that were in my old SL-HF-1000 back when I had it...
i believe the artifacts jesse objects to in action scenes are the result of internal letterboxing within the dvd player. poor on board letterboxing is quite common, according to sound and vision mag.
internal letterboxing also does a great job of reducing vertical resolution.
Still there are many compression issues realted to DVD, I've heard of compression being so High that the quality looks like VHS. DVD has its merits and problems like any other video system. It is far from perfect but I still have it. Like I said before, If I had to have just one video system, it would be Beta... why? Very good to excellent record quality, stereo sound, plenty of pre-1995 movies available as well as whatever you tape yourself. Tapes take up a small amount of room but hold a lot of material, generally it is good all around... not the spectacular video of laserdisc, the ghee-whiz features of CED and DVD, or the universal acceptance of VHS, but it does nicely in all areas.
there will never be only one system,if history is any indicator....
__ ___ _|_/ =*= ======~ - - - - - - DVD, Blue Ray Disc, AOD and CD are deads!___ OoOoOoO/
There are some poorly mastered DVD's with artifacting from hell, but I haven't had any yet. The "worst" one I have is Cats and Dogs, where you can tell they should've used a bit less compression, but still a far cry from vhs quality, and still a lot better than beta IMHO. And, let's be honest, who here doesn't like instant scene access that DVD's offer? I remember when I got my first CD player, the instant track access was a Godsend. But, I doubt my beta's will be retired anytime soon, *affordable* recordable DVD still seems a way off.
Just bought a box of Cheerios with a decent, artifact-free Salt Lake City Winter Olympics DVD inside. $3.99 Canadian funds (US=$2.75) each, four different DVD's to choose from. Think they lose money on this? Noooo.
So if Disney wants to charge $20 for theirs, I would suggest they at least bundle them in a package of steaks. Their production costs were covered the day the movie hit the theater (that mouse could buy Iraq and both Koreas by now).

Gorgeous painting!
I've been using DVD for a few years now. IMO, the big name releases aren't usually that bad. But it's the indy-label's that often have more artifacts than an Egyptian tomb. This company called "City Heat Productions" is notorious for it's poorly-mastered titles. Too bad, too, cuz they make alot of interesting direct-to-disc films (Pressure, Lightspeed, Brotherhood (II, III), etc.). Even clearly visible when said DVD's are duped over to Beta!
