Hi All,
Before I bin this VCR I want to post it on this site.
The VCR is a Philips VR2025/02. Originally a Grundig rebrand.
If someone is located in the northern part of the Netherlands the VCR can be picked up.
The brakes for the reels are disintegrated.
So, most likely for parts.
Looking for portable video 2000 Brand PYE 2100/2200. Originally sold by Dixons.
Just to let everyone know, V2000 PALsite has just been fully updated to work better on mobile devices

Hello co-pallers.
I've a V2000 machine but not that much tapes.
Two tapes have bad video lints, they're rotten and damaged.
Has anyone tried to take the lint out of it and replace it with one from a VHS tape?
Did that work ?
I have a vp1000 in mint condition with the original case with it. What do they sell for?
Hi, does anyone have Martin Potters contact details, thanks, Steve
Hi, does anyone have Martin Potters contact details, thanks, Steve
Richard Warner sounds like the mains filter capacitor you are talking about the machine will work with our that however you can get the values off it and put another in. However the switching off/on shutting down etc is common you will need to replace a lot of capacitors in the power supply section
Hello,
I have a Philips V2000 VR2340 in a good general condition.
I have some issue with the mecanism that became lazy with the years.
Sometimes it's strong enough to run tape sometimes not.
I'm looking for a person who can repair this kind of video recorder.
I live in Belgium (people in the Netherlands or in France are ok toi).
Thanks in advance for any help
Kind regards
Chrisbati

Paul Todd,I have splice a VHS cleaning cassette into a V2000 cassette,it works great, use 1/2" PROPER splicing tape that does not ooze,my kit was bought at Tandy 20 years ago, trim the edges with scissors to bring it back to 1/2",I dribble panel wipe What paint sprayers use to remove skin oils)Then play for 10 seconds, then leave 10 seconds, then play a tape,it works every time,in the past I have use top quality REAL Scotch tape to splice, and then trim, just keep the splices away from the heads, otherwise the oozing may be a problem,Hope this helps,Regards,Ray
Hello all,I have a Canon microfiche reader printer machine, and would like to borrow the Grundig microfiche that has the Grundig video stuff on it,it has the machines before the V2000 machines, and the V2000 machines, the FAC cameras, and the short lived small CVC format machines called the VP 100,maybe I can borrow,or buy,or maybe some kind person can connect me with a past or present Grundig dealer,I have been using the V2000 and VP 100 and FAC camera stuff since 1982,and I also have a few of the V2000 portable tuner/Timers from Philips and Pye brand,Thanks,RSVP,Regards,Ray
Also if anyone has any V2000 tapes with old recordings on that they are willing to post to me for a reasonable price I will pay. Of course I pay for postage too, but must accept PayPal payment. Thanks 😊 07510100022
Hi Im interested in paying for anyone who has a used or new but either way in fair condition wet cleaning tape for a V2000 please? I have a working unit here that I bought off a good seller in Netherlands however I dont want to take it apart for head cleans each time also it has been sealed and is there is some guarantee I would rather not break the screw seals opening it up. I have looked for one for some time but find nothing. I was thinking of dismantling a couple of old V2000 cassettes and winding on a VHS wet cleaning tape to the spools then simply drilling a hole for the application of cleaning fluid. Is anyone willing to sell me such a tape cleaner for a reasonable price? Or willing to make me one in the above manner or similar? If not I will attempt making one myself, so if anyone has any tips or anything that is a wet V2000 tape cleaner get in touch. 07510100022
Please can you help... I have a Philips VR 2340 which is the same as the VR 2334 'video 2000' system video recorder which
I use in the UK.
Over Christmas had problems ... While playing or recording the machine would
switch off and back on clicking after about 10 seconds to continue playing or recording.
The main cause is the following...
I've checked the main access point where the electric cable is plugged into on the machine... It looks like this part is damaged and been on its way out for some time and expanded becoming
damaged. *
*Can you suggest a replacement which I can solder on to replace the damaged
one. **
Does any one have parts stripped out of an old VCR, The circuit board that I require is about the size of a 'thick finger' the main electric lead plugs into then two brown wires solder onto main transformer.... This circuit board capacitor is what I require.
I do have pictures of the item required
Yours
Richard
I have a Phillips V2000 video recorder bought in 1982 which needed repairs in 1986 and has been stored in its original packaging ever since. Deciding to have a clear out over the weekend I almost took it down to my local recycling centre but had second thoughts. If anyone would like it free of charge they are welcome to come and collect. You never know one of you boffins might be able to get it working again or use it as a donor unit. I live in the South Croydon area, Coulsdon
Hi JohnH,
I'm working on a total of 4 of these machines at the moment which I've had in storage for 10 years or so. One thing i have found with one of them is the magnetic material on the capstan flywheel had become unstuck and had swelled slightly too. This was causing the flywheel to foul the board slightly giving a similar issue to you. On mine I had to re-glue it and then file it down slightly and it now works perfectly although the head rotary transformer also had a similar issue where some slight over-spill of glue was causing the head disk assembly to slightly foul it. Again I very carefull removed the glue and it's now working well.
Hope this helps but if I find anything else as I work on these, I will let you know.
Another thing I have also just thought of - have you swapped out all of the capacitors in the power supply? Makes a huge difference...
I have a Grundig 2x4 Plus which has a servo fault that I've been trying to fix for the last 30 odd years! Playback of recordings done before the fault appeared are OK, so obviously the servos in playback are OK, as are the heads and motors.
Now, when a recording is done, it plays back with severe tracking errors every few seconds. (If it was VHS, I'd say it was control pulses not being recorded, but obviously there's no such thing with V2000).
My conclusion is the capstan servo is the problem, because if I put the machine in pause when the picture is clear, it stays clear - so the head servo must be OK.
All the waveforms are there, although I cannot adjust the APB preset to centre the reference pulse on the ramp, it wants to stay up one end. If I try to change it, it loses lock. So phase problem?
I think the DTF is working, since there's the waveform being fed into one actuator during record, although the fixed voltage fed into the other actuator is about half what the manual says - not sure if that's important or not.
I realise there's hardly any Grundig 2x4 machines in use, let alone anyone that is familiar with them, but here's hoping someone might be able to help.
I'd really like another machine to swap modules from, but here in Australia, I can't see that happening.
If this is the unit for sale on Ebay then you'll have to check all solder joints on the psu board. Make sure the back up battery is changed if it won't hold charge as a defective battery can cause all sorts of problems with these vcrs. Also check the condition of the pinch roller before you attempt to play any tapes. The unit can be put into play without a tapes present.
Cheers
Rich.
VR2220 & VR2120 error code 1696
Hi can anyone help with the error code for the combo unit VR2220 & VR2120 error code 1696
Thanks In Advance Mark
Hi Marco.
Just a suggestion = Research the magnetic tape that can be purchased on ebay.
It comes in all sizes and thicknesses.
I used it for flexible car signs it can be cut with a craft knife and seems the same as you need.
The magnet may be stronger so may cause overload and other problems so do the research.
Hi Tom!
Thank you so much! Unfortunately the magnet is incomplete...two large pieces and the rest is just crumbles, it's impossible to stick them together!
Happy new year!
Marco
Hi Marco
If your problem is not solved and magnet is complete Run super glue into all cracks on magnet. When dry replace capstan plate turn a few times by hand remove plate high spots will show .Scrape down with sharp blade replace plate turn by hand and repeat until it turns freely. Can take along time but works for me.
Hi everybody!
I'm having some trouble with a Grundig 2280,
The magnetic plate underneath the capstan wheel is cooked and got thicker and flaky. Now it touches the sensor below, making the capsan unable to turn. If i completely remove the magnet, there is obviously no control of capstan speed and it runs at its max speed. Is there a way to fit a new magnetic ring, or shall I look for a whole capstan? (Where?)
Cheers!
Marco
Hi Dave,
Suggest you first look at Colin's video on this machine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWjLNalBU2c&t=234s ). He is pretty much spot on with the issues on this.
As a general rule the Gold-coloured capacitors in the power supply board need replacing (with modern equivalents) and if you're lucky this will bring the thing back to life. If you don't hear a "click" from the power supply solenoids when you take the machine out of standby then the clear-plastic solenoids are likely corroded or gunky. A spray of servisol sometimes fixes this one.
As Colin's video shows - sometimes - it's a fault on the front (keys) panel that is the cause, but I have found this to be quite rare.
Hope this helps
Rob
I have a Grundig 2 x 4 Super video 2000 with a faulty power board. Does anyone know where i can get hold of either a working power board, a service manual for this machine, or perhaps just a circuit diagram of the power board?
Thanks
Hi,
Has anyone got a new or very good condition video head for a Philips VR2022 they'd like to sell please?
Thanks
Rich.
Hi all.
I have a problem with my Philips vr2022 whereby the solenoid between the supply and take up reels keeps clicking very fast when I press the tape transport functions. Even when I press power it clicks. It doesn't click when I power on if the cassette lid is in the open position.
I've changed the battery and taken out that usual capacitor that goes up in smoke on the small power cable PCB (because it did actually blow).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks again
Have you double checked that all of the plug in connectors are seated correctly?
Hi!
I can't figure out what is up with my Grundig 2280! It keeps spinning take up reel. Sometimes starts clicking, loosing led display, etc. Weird. Anyone familiar with this issue on this model?
Hi! I have a Grundig 2280 that enters fast forward as soon as I insert a cassette. It will not stop when buttons pressed. Any ideas why anyone.
Hi! I have a Grundig 2280 I picked up from a friend that wasn't accepting tapes. Turned out to be a foreign object in the machine and a C-clip came off one of the tape threading arms. I fixed these but there is no sign of power on the machine. Checked the fuse in the mains. It was still good. Is there another fuse for the mains? I hope to get this deck up and running.
Hi Rob
I've managed to get rid of most of the white lines after adjusting the DOC but now I've got some ghosting on the picture.
I guess I'll have to change the caps. D'oh!
Rich.
Rob,
Thank you. I shall proceed with caution and let you know.
Regards
Rich.
Rich,
The DOC pot could be the one you said, but you need to check the manual as my memory is good - but not that good. I recall you can just get to it while the tape deck is playing (if you position it right). There is another one in a similar place - different colour - which should NOT be touched . So make sure you have the right one.
Rob
Hi Rob.
Thank you for that explanation.
I'll see if I can get hold of the service manual somehow online and look up those caps and the drop out compensator.
The dropout compensator pot....is it the yellow pot that is at the rear top, approx halfway along the rear pcb (showing through the metal head can)?
Thanks again, much appreciated.
Rich.
Hi Rich,
I'm away at the moment so this is from memory. I used the service manual for the vr2324 that can be found on the web - albeit in Dutch or German I recall.
I believe the board is called a160 but is the one where the video heads and loads of other things plug into underneath the tape deck. The sound board is mounted vertically on the back of the tape deck and underneath there are two boards separated. It's the one with the most plugs!
I was told to suspect the smaller electrolytic capacitors which can dry out over time. I think I just replaced all of them - about 20 or so.
Also, your heads may be newish but the tapes can deteriorate quite badly over time. I have had to change the dropout compensator setting - also on the a160 - to deal with 35 yo tapes. It's a pot near the top of the board - ie near the back of the tape deck when in situ. The service manual shows you which one. I think it's marked 'doc'. But if course be careful and mark it's current setting before changing anything.
And remember you have the extra long play version so the board will be different to the 2324
Good luck.
Rob
Rob,
Many thanks for that suggestion. It's worse on some tapes than others. I thought it might be the DTF playing up but after I properly cleaned the contacts with ipa and put it all back together it was still there.
It's a very low hours machine which was last serviced in 2004 by a Philips specialist (the chap even stuck little stickers on the metal head shield detailing what's been done and the dates of service from 1990-2004).
So the pcb you're talking about is the one directly under the deck as you lift it out? Do you happen to have some sort of service manual that has the information on what caps are installed please? It'll save me loads of time if I know which ones to order etc.
By the way, have you done a follow up video on YouTube of your new Philips n1700?
Many thanks Rob.
Rich.
Rich,
I haven't worked on your model but have seen these dropout like symptoms on other mark 2 Philips such as the vr2324 and the earlier portable - the vr2220/21 I think it was.
It turned out to be bad caps on the video board. The one underneath the tape deck a160? I recapped most of the small caps and that fixed it. I didn't have an esr meter in those days so couldn't tell you which one was the culprit.
Rob
Hi all,
I've just acquired a boxed Philips vr2840 and everything seems to work fine apart from some picture interference. There are horizontal white lines on the screen which look like lots of tape drop-outs but the tapes I'm using are NOS. I've cleaned the tape path, heads and DTF section carefully and fitted a new pinch roller to no effect.
Does anyone have a clue as to what it could be please?
Thanks
Rich.
Anyone know where the end of tape sensor connector plugs into in a Grundig 808 2x4 Stereo? I figured out all the others. Swapped in a reconditioned transport mechanism.
No, the Grundig 2280 is different model than the 1600. It features DTF and lacks tracking control nob. It is more similar to the 2200 model but features "long play" mode like the Phillips VR2840.
Hi all,
Has anyone got that black plastic ring that goes on top of the video head for a Philips vr2340 for sale please?
I think it controls the DTF? It has a piece of raised plastic which spins through a slot on the white plastic DTF assembly that sits on top of the video head.
Thanks
Rich.
Hi.
Could be tape end sensor but if the model is the one I think m it is - the stereo versiono of the '1600' then i recall grundig added an idler to drive the appropriate reel spool. These idlers were very fragile and the cogs often split. That might be your issue?
Hi
Got the Grundig 2280 to load tapes. Replaced belts and capstan belt. Deck is stuck in fast forward. Could a bad end of tape sensor cause this?
I got a Grundig 2280 from a fellow. It will not accept video cassettes however. I am curious if this is common issue with this model. Is there a loading belt on these models?
Ok danke! I also picked up a mint Grundig 2280 in original box. It will not accept video cassettes however. I am curious if this is common issue with this model. They will not drop down into the chassis. I am suspecting faulty contact switches or something. The recorder does power on. I had a Sony BVW-75 with a cassette tray issue that I couldn't resolved, so I swapped in entire tray to cure the issue. Will look at the 2280 later this week.
Hi Steven Tutty,
From experience, ensure you replace the mains suppression capacitors in the power board. There are two. They WILL smoke, then explode if you don't, causing panic and a bad smell!
Other than that, replace the capstan belt to avoid excessive wow-and-flutter and check all the daft plugs for splits which cause loose connections. You will no-doubt be super-gluing some on the motor board behind the main head drum.
Good luck!
Rob
I picked up a Grundig 2x4 stereo model 808 yesterday. It laces the tape up in "C" pattern verses my Philips VR2840 which uses the "M" pattern. Doing a complete inspection on it today and cleaning. Anyone familiar with any quirks this model is likely to have. It is heavy and built like a tank!
Ah brilliant!
Enjoy it 😜
I got it from a friend who returned from Germany to Canada. He lived there for some time in Lahr. It was hardly used.
Out of curiosity, where did you find your v2000 vcr as I've been after that model for ages. Lol
Rich.
Either really.
Cheers
Rich.
Thanks for advice Rich. Should the tuner numbers read "00" or just "0" to select external A/V input?
Hi Steven.
You have to connect the v2000 to a tv using the rf out and then connect an external source to the scart socket in order to record from an external source.
Also if you connect the v2000 directly to the tv using a fully wired scart lead you can record whatever channel you're watching. The only downside to this is that you can't change channels or turn the tv off whilst recording otherwise you'll just record a blank screen.
Regards
Richard.
I picked up a Philips V2840. I am impressed but confused about how to record from another VCR or DVD player. The format is new to me. I have always owned/serviced U-Matic/Beta/VHS decks in the past. How does one record audio/video from an external source? My manual is in Danish and I cannot follow the procedure to switch over from tuner to A/V in. Thanks
Hi,
Can anyone find Martin Potter please?
He has VCR tapes of mine and cannot contact him.
Thanks,
Jules.
Hello all
I have a few V200 machines and would like to have them checked out. Can anyone recommend a repair man around the Huddersfield area?
Thanks
Neil
Hi all.
Just to add to the post below is that I've noticed that the sound is out of sync with the picture with the picture approx 1 second behind the sound.
Could it be that the video heads aren't spinning fast enough and if so is there an adjustment on the vcr that changes the speed of the drum.
Recordings made on it playback perfect on it but picture rolls and out of sync sound on any other v2000 get.
Thanks
Rich.
Hi everyone.
I just acquired a Pye VR2022. After a thorough cleaning and oiling/greasing it actually works but I've got a constant rolling picture. I've cleaned the tape path and video heads (the correct way), cleaned the capstan shaft and cleaned and treated the pinch roller to rubber renue and it's still the same.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks
Rich.
David - have sent you an email.
Hello,
I have a number of V2000 cassettes to dispose of. There are 10 pre-recorded films, some seem to be ex hire.
There are 16 approx. home recorded cassettes of various lengths. According to the labels, some are pop music related.
The pre=recorded titles include:-
Southern Comfort
The Howling
Under Capricorn
Phantasm
Your ticket is no longer valid
Kansas City Bomber
Willie and Phil
Death on the Nile
Murder on the Orient Express
All That Jazz
No way of testing them, so as seen.
If anyone is interested, please let me know. I don't want much / anything for them but postage could be an issue with the weight. If anyone can collect from North Lancashire it would be preferable.
Seems a shame to dump them if they are of use to someone.
Hi.
Does anyone have a nos pinch roller for a Pye 20vr23 for sale please?
Thanks
Rich.
Martin Potter.
Hi Martin, please contact me.

Hi all.
Does anyone know where I can get a pinch roller for an Aristona (Philips VR2340)23VR40 from please?
Many thanks.
Rich.
Hi Loes,
I can only answer for the Philips VCR VR2025. (1st generation Video 2000 - Grundig clone)
This was a Philips copy of the "Grundig 2x4 Super". I actually bought one for spares last week ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152875377595 ). Many consider this model unreliable.
There are a few of the Grundigs about and tend to SELL for £10-£40. There are a few on ebay at the moment for more, but unless your one is fully working, I doubt you will get much more than the £ 30.
Of course, if it were boxed with original instructions etc, that may push it more toward £40-50 (untested/not working) or ~£100 ( fully working).
Rob
oh i forgot to tell that my grandfather was working for philips from his 18th till he stoped working, so maybe some items are prototypes?
Hello,
When my grandfather (87 years, worked from his 18th at Philips!) moved to a nursing home 2 years ago, he asked me if i want to sell all of his Philips stuff for the most beautifull price so he can give a nice cheque to a little girl who only can live her life after some therapy in another country.
Maybe someone can help me with what i can ask for this stuff.
*Philips VCR VR2025
*Philips Videopac G7400
*Philips CDI
Im NOT looking for people who wants it for re-sell, but asking for a honestly answer from someone who know's what this is worth.
Thanks allot (also from grandfather & little girl)

Hi AVR2.
Only just seen your post. If you are still looking for help transferring V2000 tapes to DVD/MP4, please get in touch - [email protected]
Rob
Hi everybody,
I'm looking for a working V2000 that I could use to transfer a large box of tapes. Does anybody have one for sale? I'd prefer one with AV line output.
I'm in Colchester, Essex, but willing to travel to collect the right machine.
Thanks!
Irecently purchased a Philips V2840 and new to this format. Always lived in Canada before moving to Germany. Very foreign to me for I have always owned/serviced U-Matic/Beta/VHS decks in the past. It seems impressive for its era. Does anyone know where one can source some good blank tapes, new or used.
Thanks
Hi all. I still have the Pye v2000 vcr (I'm sure it's a 20vr23 with add on remote control sensor) and loads of tapes for offer. I've just given the tape path, heads and video head drum a proper clean (yes I did do it correctly before the video head police get on my case). All working fine and as it should.
It will all need to be collected from Rogiet in Monmouthshire as it's all too heavy to post.
Any questions just ask.
Rich.
I have a quantity of previously recorded V2000 tapes which I want to go to a good home. They are a mixture of 2 x 120, 2 x 180 and 2 x 240, Grundig, Philips and BASF. They currently hold various films and programmes recorded during the 1980s. I have no working machine so cannot check what is what. Any sensible offer considered.
I also have a Grundig v2000 2x4 machine which is available for spares or repair, and a similar v2000 2x4 Super. Offers for either of these also considered.
hi there i am selling a philips v2000 machine in working order model no vr 2020 on ebay

Hi everyone,
New to Video restoration, but have acquired a massive collection of N1500/1700, Beta and V2000 tapes and want to transfer many of the contents to digital myself.
Managed to get a Philips VR 2324 very cheap and after a quick internal clean, loads, laces and plays/fwd/rwd cassettes without any issues. However, I am finding there is no video signal on either SCART or UHF modulator out.
Can anyone advise on what to check/common faults?
The video head seems to be somewhat difficult to access but from what I can see, doesn't look in bad shape.
Any ideas?
Rob
Hi all.
I have a Pye 20vr23 vcr and quite a number of cassettes I will be selling. The vcr was serviced a few years ago and some new components fitted. I tried it the other day and it still works but one tape I used shed some oxide onto the heads and transport. I can't be bothered to take the 4 big screws out from underneath and fart around finding all of my cleaning equipment. If anyone is interested in the whole lot send me a message with an offer and we'll go from there. Collection only as it's all too heavy to post.
Monmouthshire.
Richard.
I think the cheapest and easiest way is to purchase a HDD+DVD Panasonic recorder on Ebay, since PC video cards doing this job are not reliable. Regards.
